Great ! Laurent, several ULg people, and (present or former) ULg
students (including Arlon FSUGAr members) are on this list. So I will
post a call there and report any important information on the
ubuntu-be wiki.

I take note of it. But I would like to put a report online so that
things are clear before making appointments. I also have to deal with
some "stuff" for a couple of days.

P.S. Among the new Fédé team, an administrator named André
Vanderschelden comes from HEC too. Maybe you could get in touch with
him to see if he is interested in free software promotion...

See you soon

I just added myself.
I never participated in an ubuntu-be event though, so if someone else
from Liège with more experience (organising material, flyers, posters,
tshirts, etc...) is free that afternoon I'd be happy :)

By the way... how does this work with the flyers? (design, print, ...)

First of all, he can refuse the license.
Secondly he didn't buy the software, so he shouldn't be bound to any

IF they start to argue they have to refund him the original value of the

Well, apart from the "trains station action", there is an event
foreseen for that : the Ubuntu event on ULg campus (see Laurent
Sibilla previous mails). LiLiT (Liege LUG) has been asked to be in
charge of the LIP part : preparing it (room, servers, computers) is

2007-09-23 Thread François Cauwe
I think it's better to avoid the administrative things. It seems also to
be a habit in Ghent and Leuven to give flyers away for party's in train
stations. So I don't see a problem. Just do it, and see how things turn
out. Otherwise you never do something.
I also saw already a bad at the exit of Gent-Sint-Pieters promoting for
the "International Christian Youth Days".

The new Liège Guillemins underground is full of space and wonderful
(sort of JFK airport TWA terminal...) but you'll have to wait 1 more
year or 2 to get access to it ;-))

> Do you need a authorisation to redistribute flyers on the public

For the "Fête de l'internet 2005", our LUG wanted to get max.
visibility by using a room or booth in the very center of Liege
(place Cathédrale : see
http://lilit.be/photos.php?gal=fete-internet). It turned out to be an
administrative nightmare : you have to ask (and maybe to pay taxes) to
the City council, with a 3 months delay(!), to be allowed to have a
booth, to distribute flyers, to be clothed as a pinguin, to put
advertising posters on a window facing the street, to put a network
cable passing even a pedestrian street, etc. Finally, we made an
agreement with the "Médiathèque" asbl and the TEC (to use their bus
stop) because they already had the needed authorisations.

So, as Cédric said and even if things cannot be worse than in Liege,
be careful !

Indeed, this is a legal mention (in France, you have to write also
IPNS (Imprimé par Nos soins).
But
For the projector and the screen, it's a kind of (cultural)
manifestation... a promotionnal event
And it's pretty sure you'll need authorization, either from SNCB (if
you are on their area), either the city.

It's better to ask, than to be moved out by police officers, isn't it ?

I think you have to write in on it "Niet op de openbare weg

Re: [Ubuntu-be] Sell vista for Ubuntu-be.org?

2007-09-23 Thread Cedric Janssens
Are you sure the CLUF of Microsoft give you the rights to sell this box ?
This a big freedom hole, but in most of the MicroLicense, you don't
even the right to resell the product you've "bought"

[Ubuntu-be] Sell vista for Ubuntu-be.org?

2007-09-23 Thread François Cauwe
Hi everybody!

A while ago I received a "Vista Ultimate" and "office ultimate" from
Microsoft, and I promised to test it. But because My laptop has only 512
MB of ram, which is more than enough for me, but not for vista, I had to
tested vista on my mothers new laptop with vista pre-installed, before
removing it to put windows XP on it.

But I still have the sealed "Windows vista ultimate box", and I plan it
to sell it on ebay and give the profit to ubuntu-be.org under the
action: "I have vista, but I can't use it. Luckily I can do all the same
with Ubuntu!"

What do you think of it? Do you have any ideas?

François

[Ubuntu-be] ReleaseActions - Train station actions 21/10/07

2007-09-23 Thread François Cauwe
Hi everybody,
I'm playing around with the following idea:

Ubuntu needs to gain more visibility in Belgium. And it's important that
people hear a couple of time of Ubuntu before they actually try it.
Therefore, the 6 mouth release is ideal to do a "larger scale" action
around Ubuntu.

I'm proposing the following "Train station actions" :

During the Sunday evening there is a massive flow of students that pass
through the train stations of Belgian student city's. It wouldn't be a
big effort to do an action there, compared to the number of people we
can reach. Eg. A train coming from Brussels to Leuven contains more than
600 students. The idea would be to (1) come with a projector, and
project a presentation or a ubuntu desktop on a wall or screen at the
exit. (2) Flyer at the exit of the train station.

But if you have other idea's; please say!

I'm proposing myself to coordinating this for Leuven, but I would
welcome everybody to do the same for other city's like Ghent,
Brussels, ...

I created a wiki page, feel free to add your name and ideas!
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ReleaseActions

Can someone post this on the forums? Thanks!
