I know that netbook-launcher-efl changed its favorite path as discussed
with Oliver or relied to the netbook-launcher ones. But as there is no
more netbook-launcher favorites, I think they lost them.

Setting to the right package.

[Bug 633490] Re: [MAVERICK/ KWIN]:Impossible to turn on composition

2010-10-05 Thread Jason Scurtu
I think i found out why we are not getting the effects! ( well kind
of, I am close!! :-) )

I did a kwin --replace in the terminal and got this output:

QInotifyFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: inotify_add_watch failed: No such
file or directory
QFileSystemWatcher: failed to add paths: /home/ubuntu/.config/ibus/bus
Bus::open: Can not get ibus-daemon's address.
IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon

So I thought hmmm. Looking at the installed
applications there was ibus-qt4 installed but.. I dunno???..
I looked to see if ibus-daemon is runnung with: ibus-daemon -d
But then the output was telling me that ibus-daemon is not installed and that I
could install it with sudo apt-get install ibus

So, yeah... I did!!!

sudo apt-get install ibus

## This installs some GTK non KDE related stuff! Here is the list:
gconf2 gconf2-common ibus indicator-application libappindicator1 libcroco3
libdbusmenu-gtk1 libgconf2-4 libglade2-0 libibus2 libidl0 libindicator1
libjson-glib-1.0-0 libnotify1 liborbit2 librsvg2-2 librsvg2-common
python-appindicator python-glade2 python-gtk2 python-ibus python-notify

After the Install I loaded the ibus-daemon with ibus-daemon -d went to
systemsettings and tada!! I was able to turn on effects!!!

Now is this a Kwin issue or more a ibus-qt4 issue?? or even a packaging
issue??

Cheers!

Re: [Bug 650998] Re: Battery Status Applet not working properly

2010-10-05 Thread martin
Hi

I started the process but then got as far as Launchpad saying (in
browser)

''Almost finished ...
To finish authorizing the application identified as apport-collect to
access Launchpad on your behalf you should go back to the application
window in which you started the process and inform it that you have
done your part of the process.''

Not quite sure how to 'inform it that you have done your part of the
process.' and complete the report. The Run Application window (Alt F2)
closes automatically once apport-collect 650998 is executed.

When clicking on the battery symbol in the Indicator Applet, instead of

The on-screen pop-up (notify-osd?) when there is a change, like unplugging AC

[Bug 637684] Re: blank=fast operation never finishing (Sony CD-RW)

2010-10-05 Thread Schily
cdrkit is an extremely outdated software. It offers a development state
from September 2004 with additional bugs added by the cdrkit team. The
software did get major enhancements and bug fixes since then, but this
has been completely ignored by Ubuntu.

As Ubuntu does not offer recent legal software in official packages,
there are several private efforts to create up to date cdrtools
packages. These packages usually also take care of removing the buggy
cdrkit software.

[Bug 650539] Re: Launching QT apps such as SpeedCrunch, keepassX, Lucky Backup, Pencil, Stellarium, skype chrashes Xsever

2010-10-05 Thread Alejandro Cuervo
Jonathan, I don't think this is an issue with the Nvidia Drivers. Their
current, their beta and their five prior versions of the Nvidia Drivers
work well and without this issue on 10.04, 9.10 and 9.04

Also, according to the changelog of the Xinerama packages nothing
changed between 10.04 and 10.10. (Xinerama is deprecated so not much
work is going on there.)

So it must be an issue with QT since alot changed in the QT packages from 10.04
to 10.10.
Some change in the QT pakages broke its interaction with xinerama.

[Bug 23046] Re: mkisofs aborts on malformed joliet filenames

2010-10-05 Thread Schily
The original software did never use the broken UTF-8 patch that is the
reason for the buggy behavior of the fork on Ubuntu.

The original software introduced a working UTF-8 solution in Auhust
2006.

I recommend to use the original software (current release is
cdrtools-3.00) as it correctly handles UTF-8

[Bug 654428] Re: pitivi crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_Call()

2010-10-05 Thread Jean-François Fortin Tam
Hi, this is probably related to Bug #327872

Can you provide a sample of that clip?

Furthermore, your stack traces did not have debug symbols in them; make sure
you have the following packages installed to get valid traces:
python-dbg python-gtk2-dbg python-gst0.10-dbg gstreamer0.10-gnonlin-dbg
*gstreamer0.10*-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg python-cairo-dbg

You could also create debug logs by running pitivi like this:
PITIVI_DEBUG=*:5 GST_DEBUG=2 /usr/bin/pitivi  debug.log 21
Then compress and attach the log file to this bug report.

[Bug 654574] Re: qrunner crashed with IOError in _logexc()

2010-10-05 Thread Mathias Gug
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 654956] Re: LIRC generates problematic conf file

2010-10-05 Thread xinix
Yes that is correct. The working conf file was generated using lirc
0.8.3 in ubuntu 8.04; but on 0.8.7 in 10.10 is problematic.

As far as I can tell the remote performs correctly using the conf file
from 0.8.3.

[Bug 653474] Re: Can't do clean remove of Ubuntu

2010-10-05 Thread YannUbuntu
thank you for your answer.

Can you please stop marking random products as affected by this bug?

Sorry if you think I did so, I did not mean to. I wanted to affect
Ubuntu in general but did not find the way to do it, so I chose the
projects which seemed to me the closest to the subject.

No, there's no way that we'll be able to fit in a fix for 10.10 at this
 point
 (...) no need to rush

I did not say so, and I understand there are other priorities at the
moment.

(it likely involves some discussion with GRUB upstream - the question of
 saving the
MBR has come up before there and probably needs to be revisited

Thank you for this information. I will then contact GRUB upstream
concerning technical points. Nevertheless, I believe a bootloader can't
handle the entire Uninstalling Ubuntu process, so IMHO this should be
supervised by Canonical team.

(For people understanding French, we are working on a solution here :
http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=3768409 )

[Bug 403541] Re: Should use GtkBuilder rather than libglade

2010-10-05 Thread Michael Terry
Jonathan, it means that it would be nice to convert the current
libglade-formatted files into gtkbuilder-formatted files. Gtk added
support for such files in 2.12, deprecating the need for libglade. So
we'd like to clean up users of libglade to drop a dependency. I'm
looking at it.

[Bug 330351] Re: mail-notification widget hangs in KDE4 taskbar

2010-10-05 Thread Daniel Eckl
Just as a sidenote: The problem is caused by the function to hide the tray icon
when the counter is 0.
So there is one workaround that is quite hidden: You can let mail-notification
show the icon even when the counter is 0.

To do so, install gconf-editor
Go to desktop - apps - mail-notification and there check the function
always-display-icon.

The freezes are gone then, but you have to live with an additional icon
that eats up tray space even when there is nothing to show.

If this bug has broken a production system, then don't touch the package
(until it is fixed) and just start Apache manually like this:

[Bug 561337] Re: telepathy-butterfly crashed with KeyError in disconnected()

2010-10-05 Thread Kevin Fries
I am getting this bug in Maverick Meekrat. Does not seem to effect
functionality of anything that I use, but the error keeps coming up,
every time the network connects.

So, today...

I was at Starbucks. The network connected, but of course it could not
actually see the network at first because of the trap page. I opened
the web browser, clicked on the I accept the terms of service
agreement. Skype and Dropbox icons indicated that the net was viewable,
and the crash notice came up at that time.

Hope this helps.

Having read the comments in the Wine bug regarding crypt32 native being

to have solved the problem for me, but it seems to break SSL.

[Bug 89381] Re: File Upload dialog has no preview for images

2010-10-05 Thread Fabián Rodríguez
Same problem in Maverick using the latest Adobe Flash for 64-bit.

This seems to be website-specific.

Try to upload an image to Flickr with Flash enabled - no preview

Try to upload an image to your Launchpad profile with Flash enabled -
preview is OK.

It looks like websites can override the OS upload dialog with their own
or something along those lines.

[Bug 655200] [NEW] Radeon driver + DVI + Syncmaster 2232bw = blank screen

2010-10-05 Thread Fanf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hello,

Summary

Using ATI radeon driver leads to a blank screen when my screen is connected
with DVI.
RadeonHD driver used to work perfectly until I switch to Ubuntu 10.10 where it
is no more supported.

Configuration
---

% lspci
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV610 video device
[Radeon HD 2400 PRO]
...

It's a card with a VGA and a DVI output.

My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2232bw. Its native resolution is
1680x1050

Details
--
I just switch to 10.10 and discovered that the radeonhd driver is no more
supported.
Problem: the radeon (or ati, as it's the same) driver does not work well
for me:
- if I use the DVI output, I just get a blank screen
- with the VGA output, I get a really *really* bad image, difficult to
describe: its blurred, or with kinds of waves, as if there was a lot of
interferences. It's almost not usable at 1680x1050, better at lower resolutions

Changing from KMS with radeon.modeset=0 has no consequence.

Trying to not use EDID information (Option IgnoreEDID true) leads to
same result.

Fglrx does not work either, at 1680x1050 I get a flashing image
(screen goes blank every 2 seconds or so), and at lower resolution the
screen is flashing (but less frequently)

Vesa driver works perfectly, both on VGA and DVI, but I can not use
1680x1050 with them, only 1280x1024 (what is expected with vesa driver).

It uses to work perfectly at 1680x1050 with radeonhd driver.

If I switch my screen for my TV (connected in DVI) with the radeon
driver, I get an image in full HD.

So, it seems that there is something wrong with either my card, the
screen, or the combination of the two. But for now, with Ubuntu 10.10, I
have no solution to have a clean display at my screen native resolution.

A kludge that will let the bad apache2.2-common package install is:

1. Open the '/var/lib/dpkg/info/apache2.2-common.postrm' file in a text
editor.

2. Go to line 77 and disable the `a2enmod` command by prefixing it with
a colon character like this:

  if dpkg --compare-versions $2 lt 2.2.15-1~0; then
: a2enmod -q reqtimeout
  fi

3. Run `dpkg --configure -a` and the apache2.2-common installation will
finish.

4. Remember that you applied this change.

[Bug 651134] Re: apache crashes with *** glibc detected *** /usr/sbin/apache2: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x00007f8b5c8fdac0 ***

2010-10-05 Thread James Page
Assuming that you continue to see this issue now that you have upgrade
apache to 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2 you can install the correct version of the
-dbgsym package by running the following command:

sudo apt-get install apache2.2-bin-dbgsym=2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2

This will ensure that the version of -dbgsym matches the installed
binaries.

If the upgrade appears to have resolved the issue please let us know

Thanks

[Bug 617885] Re: gparted crash at start: glibmm-ERROR **

2010-10-05 Thread Curtis Gedak
Thank you Luca and Seth for clarifying the problem for me.

If I understand this correctly, one of the best ways to avoid this
problem is to not use Glib::ustring when reading data directly from the
disk.

Luca,

I will investigate removing the Glib::ustring stuff from the
GParted_Core::get_filesystem() method to avoid this potential problem
for other file system types.

Seth,

I was about to apply the patch from comment #12 but noticed there might
be an undesired side effect. It appears to me that if a match is found
for the BTRFS_SIGNATURE, then the method will exit returning FS_BTRFS,
but that the following line to close the device will not be executed.

Have I interpreted the patch code correctly?

If so, would you like to rework the patch to permit closing of the device?
If not, I can rework the patch. I would still give credit to you though since
you found the underlying problem. :-)

[Bug 647539] Re: No sound after Maverick Meerkat upgrade

2010-10-05 Thread ntomka
Uninstalling pulseaudio is not a solution, workaround maybe. I'm using
alsa output in players, it's working this way but this is just a
workaround also.
