[ubuntu-uk] Video/Audio Sync Problems
Hi Over the last week or so I've noticed that, when playing any kind of video files, the audio track seems to lag around 0.25 - 0.5 seconds behind the video. It's the same whether I'm reading from a DVD, a file on my hard disk or a file on a USB memory stick. There never used to be a problem, so I'm sure it's not my hardware, particularly as it's the same on each of my 3 laptops, which all run Xubuntu 11.04. I assume that it must be something in a recent update that's at the bottom of this. Does anybody have any ideas how to rectify this? Good evening, I haven't heard much in the way of feedback about our LoCo Re-Approval page [0] so I assume that means I've just done a really good job of filling it in. If anyone has anything else to add please either add it in yourself or shoot it to the mailing list if you're not sure if it should be included or not. I will be submitting the application on Friday this week assuming all goes to plan an no major issues are identified. Good work on the last 12 months of effort, lets hope it leads to a re-approval. Anderson, Obrigado pela ajuda, Fiz os testes de acordo com as instruções mas não obtive sucesso. Não creio que o problema possa ser o sinal, estou agora num shopping com antenas das 4 operadoras sinal no máximo coloquei o modem no note da minha esposa com Windows 7 e funciona muito bem (3Mbs medidos no speedtest.net). No meu com Ubuntu 11.04 (atualizado) nada. :( A configuração da conexão TIM alternativa eu copiei do aplicativo instalado no Windows, mas mesmo assim nada. Ok... vamos tentar encontrar onde pode estar o problema. Para esses modens 3G, o Ubuntu usa o usb_modeswitch para criar os dispositivos de modem e de cartão de memoria usb, anulando o dispositivo CD-ROM que contém o(s) drivers e programa de instalação do discador Windows. O que pode estar acontecendo é uma incorreta configuração do seu modem pelo usb_modeswitch. No terminal, digite: #$ lsusb E poste a saída do comando. Instale o linux-firmware-nonfree: #$ sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree E refaça os testes. Se não tiver net, baixe-o em: http://mirror.corbina.net/ubuntu/pool/multiverse/l/linux-firmware-nonfree/linux-firmware-nonfree_1.9_all.deb Poste o modelo do seu ZTE ( vamos ver se a identificação do lsusb bate com a capa dele). PS.: Alguns modens VIVO contém drivers e programa de instalação para Linux, inclusive em .deb . O problema é achar esses na internet. Já rodei mas não achei. Gleidson comprei um netbook com o sistema operacional megalinux, o qual atualizei até onde pude, mas este apresentava-me incompatibilidade várias, as quais me fez tomar a decisão de atualizar via root o sistema para o ubuntu 11.04 ou Parece-me que o Megalinux eh baseado no Ubuntu 8.04. Creio que *nao* da para subir direto da 8.04 para a 11.04, pode tentar subir instalando o ** update-manager **. Como eh Netbook, pode ter drivers ( privativos da Megaware ), de uma conferida nisso. Tem quanto de RAM ? Digo isso porque comprei para minha afilhada um com 512MB e rodava interface Hildon, ** nao** aguenta o Gnome. Agora estou meio atarefado mas daqui a pouco devo estar fazendo o mesmo, subindo um Uba 9.04 para o 11.04. Isso é um bug confirmado Trata-se de atualização de uma versão para a versão 11.04 segundo o site indicava fazer: sudo ln -s /usr/share/vte/termcap-0.0/xterm /usr/share/vte/termcap/xterm faça isso e veja se resolve, senão faça uma nova instalação do Ubuntu do início. responda se deu certo para ficarmos sabendo. julio, agradeço-te pelo contato. Pessoal, instalei a pouco tempo num note o 11.04 e ate entao nao tinha notado nenhum problema...quando fui ver um video, tanto no VLC quanto no Totem, dao um lag terrivel!!! Caros, Em Assessórios, tenho o Editor de textos - Gedit. Mas por que não renomeá-lo apenas para Gedit? O menu de contexto, mostrou-me as opções: adicionar este lançador na área de trabalho, no painel, no painel como menu e no painel como gaveta. Renomear? Não, isto não consegui. Mas a questão não pára por aí. Inadvertidamente, apaguei uma pasta. Fui encontrar a lixeira em /home/luciano/.local/trash/files. Criei um link simbólico e coloquei-o em /home/luciano/Área de trabalho. A questão ficou resolvida. Um link simbólico não é um lançador, mas produziu o mesmo efeito. E se desejo que um link simbólico execute um comando personalizado, em propriedades, na página abrir com,, aparentemente, posso refinar o meu comando. Então, estou satisfeito com os links simbólicos. Ainda assim, permanece a curiosidade. Como criar e editar lançadores? Em que medida lançadores são mais eficazes do que links simbólicos? Estranho que ele detectou no lsusb os dois modems do mesmo modo, mesmo depois do pacote linux-firmware-nonfree instalado. Outra alternativa é criar o lançador na área de trabalho e então arrastá-lo para o painel do Gnome (como estou usando o Unity, não tenho como testar se funcionaria arrastar diretamente para um menu - mas tenho quase certeza que sim) Quanto a diferença entre um link simbólico e um lançador ela fica por conta do caminho em que a aplicação será iniciada e ainda da necessidade de usar ou não parâmetros. Por exemplo: * Um atalho que abra o Nautilus, como root, na pasta /etc só é possível com lançador * Um atalho para abrir o Nautilus em uma pasta qualquer, um link simbólico é válido * Um atalho para uma iniciar o gedit um link símbólico atende a demanda * Um atalho para uma iniciar o gedit e abrir o arquivo /home/fulano/listas de compras.txt já precisa de um lançador Neste último exemplo poderia-se também criar um link simbólico diretamente para o arquivo listas de compras.txt, mas seria necessário que o gedit estivesse configurado para ler arquivos .txt. Ok, por padrão ele já está, mas e se fosse uma extensão diferente? Já tenho a solução: http://www.ubuntero.com.br/2011/06/modem-onda-msa190up-no-ubuntu-natty-11-04/ é só seguir os passos e fazer direitinho que funciona (acabei de testar no modem de um amigo aqui idêntico). Note a linha do arquivo 19d2:2000:uPr=ONDA_WCDMA_Technologies_MSM : TargetProductList=0001,0002,0015,0016,0017,0031,0037,0052,0055,0063,0064,0091,0108,0128,0091,0092 Por essa linha, dá-se a entender que todos os modens 19d2 com o final dessa linha ( como o 0001 do MF622) devem funcionar com essas regras do usb_modeswitch. Então testa ae. Cria os dois arquivos e tenta conectar os modens para ver se funciona. E não esquece de avisar se deu certo ou não, ok? Inté. Ateh o momento estou com os seguintes problemas: - conflito entre o mouse e o touch-pad - quando conecto o mouse o apontador nao desloca continuamente ou, algumas vezes fica perdido, quando uso apenas o touch-pad, em geral, funciona corretamente; - quando dou shut down o Ubuntu sistematicamente nao desliga - aparece o nome UBUNTU, os pontos sob este nome vao acendendendo ateh faltarem 2 pontos, neste ponto a maquina para (congela); - nao consigo instalar o icone que indica carga e descarga da bateria do computador. Em um outro computador Vaio com processador INTEL i3 instalei a mesma versao do UBUNTU e nao tive qualquer problema! Agradeco qualquer ajuda. Atenciosamente, FCDart O suporte ao Sony Vaio melhorou muito, mas ainda há problemas. Sugiro tentar Ubuntu 11.04. Para mim somente funcionou com a instalação desta versão (64 bits), mas o meu é um Vaio VPCF13 Há algumas configurações necessárias pós-instalação para resolver certos issues. Ouch. The behaviour has changed. I tested extensively prior to submitting, however, after making the following two changes things seem to be working again: 1. Close VMWare Player (suspending Windows VM) and restart (resuming VM). 2. Suspend laptop overnight. Now, everything appears to work OK, noting as Julian did above, the gnome-terminal funny stuff. I beleive the problem indeed was due to the Ubuntu change:
- Drop debug-symbols-directly-in-usr-lib-debug from binaries-general.
you probably removed it because it caused the following FTBFS in i386

I tried to find out why debug-symbols-directly-in-usr-lib-debug error
isn't triggered, so I created a package for the binaries-general test
(attached), and built it, here are my findings:
* In lintian, the checks/binaries has the following:

* After building the 'basic' package, I ran:
$ file debian/basic/usr/lib/debug/basic
debian/basic/usr/lib/debug/basic: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386,
version 1 (SYSV), statically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15,
not stripped
* Please note: statically linked, although the Makefile builds 'basic'
with:
gcc -o basic basic.c -pg -Wl,--rpath,/usr/local/lib
So, I decided to check the built 'basic' binary:
$ file basic
basic: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically
linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15, not stripped
So, the culprit turned to be:
objcopy --only-keep-debug basic $(DESTDIR)/usr/lib/debug/basic
This 'objcopy' causes the resulting binary to be statically linked.
What I would like you to do is to build the package I have attached, and
check if debian/basic/usr/lib/debug/basic would be statically linked or
not.

I beleive the problem indeed was due to the Ubuntu change:
- Drop debug-symbols-directly-in-usr-lib-debug from binaries-general.
you probably removed it because it caused the following FTBFS in i386
arch:
-E: binaries-general: debug-symbols-directly-in-usr-lib-debug
usr/lib/debug/basic
I tried to find out why debug-symbols-directly-in-usr-lib-debug error
isn't triggered, so I created a package for the binaries-general test
(attached), and built it, here are my findings:
* In lintian, the checks/binaries has the following:

not stripped
* Please note: statically linked, although the Makefile builds 'basic'
with:
gcc -o basic basic.c -pg -Wl,--rpath,/usr/local/lib
So, I decided to check the built 'basic' binary:
$ file basic
basic: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically
linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.15, not stripped
So, the culprit turned to be:
objcopy --only-keep-debug basic $(DESTDIR)/usr/lib/debug/basic
This 'objcopy' causes the resulting binary to be statically linked.
What I would like you to do is to build the package I have attached, and
check if debian/basic/usr/lib/debug/basic would be statically linked or
not.

FWIW, I did need to restart the iBus daemon (right-click on the keyboard icon, select Restart from the menu) after installing the compose IME using apt-get install compose-ime-table. Yep, noticed the return of the problems, too. Firefox 5.0 very often loses keyboard focus if I have more than one Firefox window opened (no matter how many tabs I opened within the windows). Interestingly, the problems are now more grave than before. When I lose the keyboard focus, the old tricks do not work anymore. When I change to another virtual desktop/workspace and then change back to the one on which I have opened the window the problem still exists and I still have no focus. Btw.: I noticed a second before that I do not only lose the keyboard focus, but also I cannot click on any flash video (like, for instance, those on youtube). There is no reaction to mouseclicks. There are only two possible workaround to regain keyboard focus (or a correctly working Firefox Window ): 1) Close Firefox completely and then reopen the windows. So I let sessionmanger handle this and I have to hope that all windows, on which I had been working, will open correctly. 2) The second solution is somewhat strange. I can open a new Firefox window, in addition to those which I have already opened. This new window will -- certainly -- get the keyboard focus. But then I can change to the original Firefox window which displayed the focus issues and there the keyboard focus works again as well. It should be said that in all cases I recently encountered I lost the focus in ONE of the Firefox windows not in all of them. Yes, I can reproduce this crash with some kde workspace applications that use the soprano library (kactivitymanagerd, akonadi_nepomuk_contact_feeder, nepomukserver).
