[Bug 1171451] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 (raring) hangs on minimizing windows

2014-02-19 Thread Derek
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1170483 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170483

This happens to me on a fresh install of 13.10, on a new dell XPS 13.
After changing some settings including hiding desktop icons, the problem
appeared.

Symptoms were a locking of unity/desktop when the last window covering
the desktop was minimized.

Again setting [ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-
icons true ] corrected the problem.

[Bug 384347] Re: _netdev not working

2014-02-19 Thread Stuart Longland
Just discovered this gem trying to mount a Ceph RBD device on boot.
To add insult to injury, this is on a normally headless server, which is
in a difficult spot to get a keyboard and monitor to.

A server that requires me to be physically present to press a S key (and
also as a side-effect, *doesn't* mount volumes that it needs) is
completely useless to me. I need this server to boot automatically,
without intervention. If it's going to need hand-holding, save
yourselves the effort and make the next release of Ubuntu symlink
/sbin/init to /bin/bash and we'll do it ourselves!

Okay… rant over, I needed to get that out of my system.

The system in question is running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS AMD64, installed
yesterday via PXE. According to /etc/lsb-release, it's release 12.04.4.

I have in my /etc/fstab:
/dev/rbd/pool-name/name-of-rbd /local/mountpoint xfs defaults,_netdev 0 0

rbdmap service is configured and set to start at boot. Indeed, when the
machine does boot up, `mount -a` successfully mounts the RBD. However,
I need to do this *before* starting services. Doing so after logging in
is shutting the stable doors long after the horse has bolted.

I need it to do this the moment networking is up. I see I'm not the
only one a bit miffed by this situation:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2131380
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2135891

The former of those threads mentions a kludge. An ugly kludge at that.

Has someone got any ideas as to where to look it fix this problem?

[Bug 1277487] Re: Create Unity Settings Daemon so can remain on old GNOME Settings Daemon version

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-session - 3.9.90-0ubuntu8

gnome-session (3.9.90-0ubuntu8) trusty; urgency=medium

  * Split ubuntu-session out of gnome-session. Make gnome-session temporarily
depend on ubuntu-session so users automatically keep the Ubuntu session

migrated. At the same time we can make ubuntu-session depend on

Re: [Bug 1281793] Re: lxc packaging w/ bridge-utils is confused

2014-02-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Tycho Andersen (tycho.ander...@canonical.com):
Hey, sorry about that, forgot to post:

 CloudFive:~/packages/cloud-installer/tools 1$ sudo cat
 /var/log/upstart/lxc-net.log
iptables: Bad rule (does a matching rule exist in that chain?).

Do you happen to have ufw installed? Did you manually edit your
firewall at any point since the last boot before that failure?

In any case, it seems best to add '|| true' to the end of all the
iptables commands in the post-stop.

[Bug 1282384] [NEW] osmosis can't handle 64-bit way identifiers

2014-02-19 Thread Mike Hicks
Public bug reported:

I am unable to use osmosis 0.40.1+ds1-7 to convert an XML export from
the OpenStreetMap site which I downloaded today. The download includes
some nodes (points) which have identifiers that cannot be represented as
32-bit integers. This has been an issue for just over a year (since
February 2013) when node identifiers in the OpenStreetMap database began
to exceed 2^31 − 1.

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/64-bit_Identifiers

To reproduce

1. Use a web browser to go to http://www.openstreetmap.org
2. Zoom into a relatively small area (perhaps about 1 mile across, for

[Bug 1282364] Re: Add IBus input methods information to keyboard-layouts

2014-02-19 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
On 2014-02-20 04:09, John Kim wrote:
Do you think the Adding Input Methods information (the one present) is
 necessary?
 * Based on my experiences, even if I add Korean in the
Keyboard Layout setting and I switch between the input methods,
   I can't use Korean.

This is what I did:

- Installed ibus-hangul (actually it's installed automatically if you
install Korean from Language Support, so you shouldn't need to
  install it explicitly).

- Logged out and logged in again.

- Added Korean Hangul via Text Entry.

- Clicked the input source indicator and switched to Hangul.

With that I could enter some funny (supposedly Korean) characters. ;-)

 * Super+Space seems broken, as it doesn't even change the keyboard input
   method.

Yes, it's broken. Currently you can make it work by changing to
something else and then back to Super+Space. But that's not good enough.

I have been told it will be fixed, and it really should be. Otherwise
they should change to some default that works (e.g. Ctrl+Shift L).

At least for the Asian user, IBus works far better and is more
practical.

This is not about using Text Entry *or* IBus. Text Entry makes use of
IBus behind the scenes.

Some people dislike the 13.10 and 14.04 implementation of keyboard
layouts and input methods. But from a docs writing POV that's
irrelevant. 14.04, which is a LTS, will be shipped with the Text Entry
GUI, so we should try to fix the docs accordingly.

[Bug 1282392] [NEW] nothing listens to keyringError signal

2014-02-19 Thread Mike McCracken
Public bug reported:

several places in keyring.cpp emit keyringError, which is not listened
to by ssoservice.

It should be listened to and forwarded as an error to the client of
ssoservice.

I noticed this after the following UOA errors:

Note the final CRITICAL line, that comes from keyring.cpp's keyringError
function.

[Bug 1282392] Re: nothing listens to keyringError signal

2014-02-19 Thread Mike McCracken
I have no idea how to reproduce the actual error it got, since I don't
know what caused it.

I did get a notification bubble warning me that applications might not
be able to access my UOA accounts, but that wasn't very helpful.

Also, it was intermittent - when I restarted the scope and tried again,
it worked.

So, I think that just surfacing errors in keyring and making sure you
can start over cleanly is the best we can do here.

[Bug 1169243]

2014-02-19 Thread Ingo Ratsdorf
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound cynical but I have no 16GB RAM, I
have a laptop with 2GB and the reason I use Akonadi and Nepomuk is TO FIND
STUFF FAST, not wait some weeks.
Is that a wrong expectation?

On my system, I now have nepomuk enabled and it seem to work, however the
contact auto completion in KMail is now not working. If I switch nepomuk off,
the autocompletion is working again, but I have no categories in
KAddressbook... Aaahh.
So either Address categories OR address autocompletion.

[Bug 1092091] Re: Need .desktop file

2014-02-19 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
There is dh_install, but I need to rename the desktop file and the icon, and
there is now way to do so otherwise.
I could use dh_installdirs to create the two directories instead of use mkdir
-p in the rules file, but don't use it for 2 reasons: (1) I see a new file in
the debian directory absurd for only 2 lines (2) it easier to ssee and
understand the diff.
So I think it's pointless to use dh for this stuff.

[Bug 1187976] Re: Function Keys - Wireless key does not work on Dell Vostro 5460

2014-02-19 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
It's now on A07, 09/04/2013
Verified with 3.5.0-46, the wireless key still not working.
This probably caused by the non-working wireless driver (bug 1282037), since it
works in later point release

Also note that this system should be 201211-12071 not 201211-12070,
description updated

Wireless key does not work on this system.

Although the wireless is not working on this system (driver needed, see
#1187688)
But by pressling the Wireless key, I can't turn bluetooth off.

Tested with showkey -k, the wireless key is responsive.

I have pretty much the same problem. Once a snapshot is on the volume,
the system fails to boot.

the problem is exactly as described here: http://www.redhat.com/archives
/linux-lvm/2012-February/msg00028.html and the people on the mailing
list suggest broken udev rules.

fstab is pretty normal:

[Bug 221112]

2014-02-19 Thread Remi
For some reason, I found myself using the 'fr oss' layout in Gnome 3.10.
And I must say that finding out that this layout was picked as the
default left me speechless: two keys on my keyboard no longer behave
according to what's *on* the actual key:

 - the right control key, which just says Ctrl, just like its left
counterpart,
 - and the keypad's del/dot key which has an actual dot on it, not a comma

Both of those changes are incomprehensible. Whether *alternative*
layouts exist to provide new mappings is of no issue to me. But a layout
touted as the default layout should respect what's *engraved* on
keyboards.

FTR, the original 'fr' layout also has that keypad dot/comma issue but
not the right control mapped to Level5, but at least there's an
kpdl:dot option to fix the former. So I fumbled through Gnome's ever-
changing control panel and managed to change back to it.

(In reply to comment #46)
For me it does. My keyboard has an Alt Gr label on the AltR key, so it
indeed is expected to behave differently from Alt_L, but my ControlR key is
labeled as Ctrl, just like the ControlL key. And all other keyboards and
OSes I ever used did handle ControlR the same as ControlL, as far as I was
 concerned as a user.

+1, all the French PC keyboards I have owned for the past 15 years have
been like this. I can only add my voice to let it be known that having
to fix my keyboard layout for correct operation was quite upsetting.

Anyhow, thanks to all for looking into it.
