[Bug 1309890] Re: Trusty 14.04 No video with hybrid graphics intel Hd4000+ Nvidia 820M

2014-04-22 Thread Aron Monszpart
Saucy+nvidia-319 works with nvidia.modeset=1. Do not add nomodeset.
Saucy+nvidia-319-updates says Validated MetaModes: NULL, and does not work,
similarly to Trusty+nvidia-319-updates or Trusty+nvidia-337 from xorg-edgers.
The xorg.conf files are the ones that nvidia-prime installs. Blacklist nouvaeu
are in place, installed by nvidia-prime as well. Specifying ConnectedMonitor
DFP-0 does not solve the problem.

[Bug 1281058] Re: [UIFe] The system shutdowns when multiple accounts are open

2014-04-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
One issue with doing a SRU there is the new strings that are going to be
displayed in english/non translated in other locales.

One way to deal with that would be to

- upload an updated translation template to launchpad including those strings
- email the translators list to let them know about those strings
- wait a bit for the translations and until we get updated langpacks with those
translations
- then only do the code change/upload

[Bug 1310172] Re: Unable to load scopes with unity-scope-tool

2014-04-22 Thread Michal Hruby
The unity-scope-tool is a development tool, and should be run by the SDK
itself when developing a scope. SDK will know how to launch it so it
works correctly. I think the conclusion here is that we shouldn't be
installing a .desktop file for it, cause it only confuses users.

[Bug 1303167] Re: svn with kerberos-gssapi auth doesn't work

2014-04-22 Thread JancioSz
The answer is libserf, on Ubuntu not compiled with GSSAPI support, in contrast
to Jessie version. Still the same upstream version but missing compilation flag.
Could this be fixed for trusty? There is no excuse, IMHO, that svn sasl2, which
in turn could do krb5 authentication, as we need this in http/https protocols
provided to svn by serf library.

[Bug 1311104] [NEW] nvidia-331 331.38-0ubuntu7: nvidia-331 kernel module failed to build

2014-04-22 Thread Simon Lambourn

[Bug 1310828] Re: The package storageservicemanager should be a dependency of Kmail

2014-04-22 Thread Harald Sitter
I just discussed this with upstream as I don't see the application fit for
global rollout right now:
- not very useful menu name, yet upstream thinks it definitely should be listed
in the menu as it is a general storage manager, and not specific to kmail
- terribad experience as it does not display *anything* if nothing is
configured already, contributing to the bad naming, which ultimately leaves the
user guessing what exactly the application is good for because there is no
explicit information given and when started from the menu it lacks any sort of
context to deduce its use from

There will be some improvements for 4.14, which unfortunately are not
yet done and will need string changes/additions so are not a viable
option for 4.13.

With that in mind I am content to leave the 4.13 packaging as it is (at
least for 14.04 LTS) and have it added as a recommendation of the kmail
package for 14.10 (respectively backported KDE PIM 4.x backports).

[Bug 1311105] [NEW] KDE locks up at startup if window decorations changed from default.

2014-04-22 Thread Kyle
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04, when I logged in to KDE it locked
up after a few seconds of rendering the desktop. I tried logging in a
number of times with the same results.

I renamed my .kde directory and I was able to log into KDE again without
any problems. As soon as I change the window decorations to anything
other than the default (eg. Plastik), KDE locks up again upon logging
in.

I have customized my desktop in other ways and they don't pose a
problem. The only issue seems to be related to the window decorations.

[Bug 1309015] Re: Settings crashed on updates page

2014-04-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for the bug report. That could be the same issue than was
recently fixed in bug #1307608, not easy to say without a backtrace
though. Can you get a backtrace (the files you attached are made to be
sent using apport, not manually attached to bugs, retracing doesn't work
but it could be because versions changed since your report)? Is that
still an issue?

[Bug 1310406] Re: [regression] Trusty kernel doesn't recognize GeForce 8600m GT nor with nouveau or nvidia drivers

2014-04-22 Thread Treviño
Also, i've been running trusty in a very similar laptop to the one I
used for this report (same CPU/Chipset) but using a slightly different
video card, instead: G86M [GeForce 8600M GS].

And that works.

I've noticed they have a different bios version, though:
 - Not working: v1.3804
 - Working: v1.3804

So, I've upgrade this laptop bios to version v1.3818, and magically
things work now.

Then, while I think we're still somewhat regressing in handling that
old-configured-hw, Acer 5920G users should know that they need to
upgrade their bios to have trusty properly running.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

[Bug 1215901] Re: Additional errors message in system update ui

2014-04-22 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Description changed:

The update ui had to deliver additional update messages.

Attention from design will be needed as we had to add some additional
labels in case of multiple errors:

  * if we can't even check if an update is available (like no network
connection), we show display the error message where Checking for
update… was displayed with a Retry button.
+
+ “Connect to the Internet to check for updates.”, automatically retrying
+ a manual check if an Internet connection begins before leaving the
+ screen; * “The update server is not responding. Try again later.” ...
+ (There is no need for a “Retry” button, in the first case because the
+ check will happen automatically when the problem is fixed, and in the
+ others because the check will happen automatically when you returning to
+ the Updates screen and it’s probably a bad idea to try sooner.)

  * If we can't get any estimate for the download time from the message,
the About x seconds remaining become: No estimate for the download

  * The following items are presented in the same spot than the Download
  failed: case:

** If we can't pause a download, the message is:
Pause failed: as primary message and then the reason delivered by the
daemon as a secondary message

** If we can't install and reboot, the message is:
Apply update failed: as primary message and then the reason delivered by
the daemon as a secondary message

** If we can't contact the daemon for any reason, those error messages become
(depending on the case):
Can't apply the current update (can't contact service) when clicking on
install reboot
Can't cancel current request (can't contact service) when retrying from
scratch an update
Can't pause current request (can't contact service) when pausing a download

See also bug 1282499, about how these error messages are presented.

[Bug 1296715] Re: Menu items are greyed out in Libreoffice menu.

2014-04-22 Thread Björn Michaelsen
So looking into this is like following the white rabbit:
The g_lo_action_group and g_lo_menu from
vcl/unx/gtk/window/glo{actiongroup,menu}.cxx seem fine.
The vcl menu from include/vcl/menu.hxx seems fine too.
Neither VCLXMenu from include/toolkit nor the various Menubar classes from
framework/ seem to be the issue
Now at sfx2 using the insert bookmark entry as an example to follow:
- This is provided by the SwTextShell with SlotId:20302
- When leaving the formula mode, a new SwTextShell is instantiated and pushed
on the stack of the SfxDispatcher (but only upon flush() with a timeout
callback to make things more interesting to debug)

So the shell seems to be there, but doesnt claim the slot. Investigating on
from here.

That's not useful. Surely at least one of those components don't need to
be updated to fix this crash?

[Bug 1311128] [NEW] Please incorporate gcc 4.8 revision 209515

2014-04-22 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Public bug reported:

From another, less public, bug:

Text by Bill Schmidt:

A GCC bug was found in the little endian vector API that affects use of
the vec_mergeh and vec_mergel interfaces when VSX is enabled (this is
the default for Power8). These interfaces produce the wrong results for
4x32 vector types (vector int of either signedness, vector float). The
upstream patch fixes this issue.

(bug internally reported by Thierry Fauck; fixed upstream by Bill Schmidt.)

[Bug 1185756] Fwd: Re: [Drbd-dev] drbdsetup legacy utils can't fall back to version 8.3

2014-04-22 Thread Lionel Sausin - Numérigraphe
Linbit's Lars Ellenberg confirmed on the ML that adding /lib/drbd to the
path won't fix drbdsetup in all cases: drbdsetup-83 has to be in the
same directory as the drbdsetup, and it also applies to drbdadmin.

On Tue, Apr 22, 2014 at 01:56:16PM +0200, Lionel Sausin wrote:
 (...)
Is the correct fix to add a symlink from /lib/drbd/drbdsetup-83 to
/sbin, or should drbdsetup be patched to search in /lib/drbd too?

Correct is whatever works for you.
As long as you know what version you are using, use the matching tools.

Note that using explicit path (anything with a '/' in it)
on drbdadm or drbdsetup causes them to expect the respective legacy
binary at that same path, beneath the current executable.
(on purpose).

So if you want to say /sbin/drbdsetup, and expect that to be able to
execvp drbdsetup-83, then yes, you have to make that accesible under
/sbin/drbdsetup-83, adding it to the PATH will not be good enough.

Also, as a heads up, we are in the process on splitting out the DRBD
userland, providing the grand unified drbd utils, so this will all
change again within the next few weeks/month.

[Bug 1261753] Re: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Laptop often suspends once immediately after resume

2014-04-22 Thread Owen Williams
I tried testing again with the newest Ubuntu liveCD, and at least in
that environment it works correctly. And the wifi reconnects much more
quickly too. It's looking more likely that this is some strange quirk
of my system which has been upgraded a few times and may have some bad
config hiding somewhere.

Is there an accepted way to reinstall Ubuntu on top of an existing
installation, preserving at least the home directory? Otherwise I'll
just flatten and reinstall and see if that fixes it.

+ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#presenting-mobile: *
“Connect to the Internet to check for updates.”, automatically retrying
a manual check if an Internet connection begins before leaving the
screen; * “The update server is not responding. Try again later.” ...
(There is no need for a “Retry” button, in the first case because the
check will happen automatically when the problem is fixed, and in the
- others because the check will happen automatically when you returning to
+ others because the check will happen automatically when you return to
the Updates screen and it’s probably a bad idea to try sooner.)

  * If we can't get any estimate for the download time from the message,
the About x seconds remaining become: No estimate for the download
+
+ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#presenting-mobile: (Time
+ remaining should not be shown, because it is too unpredictable on mobile
+ connections.)

[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

2014-04-22 Thread Stefan Bader
Anyone seeing the error message, try the proposed package on the
upgraded server. Those are for Precise (12.04) and you will need only
the one matching your installation (64bit or 32bit).

The UI is supposed to check for available update when open the panel,
the issue there could be on the service side...

[Bug 1310950] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Executing grub-install failed and then the installer crashed

2014-04-22 Thread Phillip Susi
It appears that you have multiple disks and attempted to install grub to
sda, and ubuntu on another disk, but sda is partitioned using gpt, but
has no bios_grub partition. You either need to create a 1 mb bios_grub
partition on sda, or install grub to another disk ( and have your bios
boot from that disk ).

Proposing to fix this by adding the patch in drbdsetup, too. See attached
debdiff. Test packages can be found at

[Bug 1306514] Re: Xfce4 Indicator plugin crashes.

I can confirm this. CopyAgent stopped to display its menu properly when
upgraded to Trusty. In saucy I used the other notification plugin
where CopyAgent worked properly.

Re: [Bug 1310172] Re: Unable to load scopes with unity-scope-tool

michal.hr...@canonical.com wrote:
The unity-scope-tool is a development tool, and should be run by the SDK
itself when developing a scope. SDK will know how to launch it so it
works correctly. I think the conclusion here is that we shouldn't be
installing a .desktop file for it, cause it only confuses users.

Dropping the desktop file might be a good thing, but I didn't even
realize there was one. My end goal was/is to write a scope in Go. I
was trying to get a locally installed scope to show up. Don't assume
that just because someone wants to write a scope, they either know or
care about the underlaying components.

[Bug 1310765] Re: libarchive.so is not symlinked

Hello Dustin Oprea!

You're looking at the wrong package. Development files are in the
libarchive-dev package. Please make sure you have it installed if you
want the development files on your system.
