[Bug 1522256] Re: SMB support
I was going to ask how you're browsing the network, and then I just realised that there's an icon of a folder with a network cable being plugged into it. How did I not notice that? Duh! But... well it's not working for me. At least not as well as for you. I have "Unlock full access" switched on. There's an orange swirly thing and then it just says "No files". My Macbook is able to browse the network fine. I'd like to get things working as well as they are for you because my share doesn't require authentication. So it might be implemented enough for me to get access to my stuff. The first thing to implement is allowing smb:// notation in the "Go" dialog. That would make it at least possible to enter credentials, and get some people up and running without the need for complicated UI work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522256 Title: SMB support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1522256/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1522650] Re: the user namespace in ubuntu 15.04 can not run correctly
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1522650/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1522727] [NEW] X.org crashes intermittently, randomly
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10, X.org crashes intermittently. The screen will suddenly turn black, and after a few seconds, the LightDM login screen appears. All unsaved work is lost of course. A clean install of 15.10 did not help, the problem persists. It happens absolutely randomly. I haven't been able to figure out any pattern related to time or specific user interaction that would cause this, except that I believe the crash is always triggered by some kind of input device action, i.e. mouse click or key press. The system won't crash if I don't actively do any work. A few weeks ago, directly after updating to 15.10, it did seem to work. Apparently this was just luck, because now nothing seems to be restored. [Bug 1470250] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups
@decui Correct, ceteris paribus, the only changes were more of the same (disk space) and some package changes through apt-get update (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS). My guess is that the downgrade is related to one of the two. But I agree, let's postpone this one, until the read-only bug is fixed. Afterwards, I will upgrade my production kernels to the latest stable 4.x kernel with the patch applied (I just read that the HWE kernel for 14.04 is going to 4.x in January anyhow). Then the performance might be different after all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470250 Title: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1470250/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1456612] Re: [coachmarks] The discoverability of 'recent call' tab was poor
** Description changed: The testers would like a stronger visual hint or to be introduced to the bottom tab function in the first time tutorial - UX comment This is not a dialer issue but more of how the bottom edge hint behaves across all apps. ubuntustudio-dev-tools project, and the first tool in it: apt-search
#ubuntustudio-dev-tools I started a new project with a code branch that can be used to put any useful development tools into. ubuntustudio-dev owns the code, and it's our first git repo on launchpad. LP project page: https://launchpad.net/ubuntustudio-dev-tools GIT repo page: https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-dev/ubuntustudio-dev-tools/+git/ubuntustudio-dev-tools # apt-search Been working on a tool for a few weeks, since I couldn't find a nice way to make package searches over several release of a distro, and also not being able to search and compare packages between Debian and Ubuntu. This kind of tool would be very useful for any flavor developer, especially for us, I think. The tool is not finished, but it is already somewhat useful. There are some bugs, and missing features. I'm calling it apt-search. If you want to check it out, get the source from the above link, and read the README.md file for instructions. It can search for packages in any stable release of Debian or Ubuntu, using any of the debian/control fields for filtering, and able to output in html and moin tables, or just the standard output which resembles the debian/control files format. Be warned that searching takes a really long time. I'd like to save the cache in some type of database format in the future, and do db queries instead. Thinking that would increase performance. One possible use for this tool would be to compare an LTS release with following stable releases to see which packages can be backported. Another is to list packages interesting to us for any particular reason, like we did for the freedesktop category stuff, though apt-search does yet not search for files - which is another feature I was planning. Hope this could be of some use to someone. /Kaj -- Ubuntu-release mailing list Ubuntu-release@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-release

[Bug 1522813] [NEW] SteelSeries SRW-S1 wheel steers mouse pointer
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 16.04, but it's the same for 15.04 and 15.10 xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.9.2-1ubuntu1 When I plug in my SteelSeries SRW-S1 game wheel the mouse pointer is constrained horizontally unless I use the wheel, which positions the pointer in the horizontal plane as I steer left or right. It works fine in kubuntu 14.04 The problem is apparent even during installation of 15.10 and 16.04, which made my first attempt a bit tricky, until I realised what was going on. I installed xserver-xorg-input-evdev-dev and xserver-xorg-input- joystick-dev, but no difference (I even tried rebooting). The 16.04 install is just for testing (very impressive. boots from Grub in 7 seconds!!), so I could probably build a kernel to test any patch, or could there be an X configuration workaround? sudo lsusb -v shows: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1038:1410 SteelSeries ApS Device Descriptor: bLength18 bDescriptorType 1 bcdUSB 2.00 bDeviceClass0 (Defined at Interface level) bDeviceSubClass 0 bDeviceProtocol 0 bMaxPacketSize0 8 idVendor 0x1038 SteelSeries ApS idProduct 0x1410 bcdDevice1.00 iManufacturer 1 SteelSeries iProduct2 SRWheel iSerial 4 6900500412031200164 bNumConfigurations 1 Configuration Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 2 wTotalLength 41 bNumInterfaces 1 bConfigurationValue 1 iConfiguration 0 bmAttributes 0x80 (Bus Powered) MaxPower 100mA Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 4 bInterfaceNumber0 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 2 bInterfaceClass 3 Human Interface Device bInterfaceSubClass 0 No Subclass bInterfaceProtocol 0 None iInterface 0 HID Device Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType33 bcdHID 1.11 bCountryCode0 Not supported bNumDescriptors 1 bDescriptorType34 Report wDescriptorLength 115 Report Descriptors: ** UNAVAILABLE ** Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x81 EP 1 IN bmAttributes3 Transfer TypeInterrupt Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 10 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x01 EP 1 OUT bmAttributes3 Transfer TypeInterrupt Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 10 Device Status: 0x0001 Self Powered from /var/log/Xorg.0.log: [26.724] (II) config/udev: Adding input device SteelSeries SRWheel (/dev/input/mouse1) [26.725] (II) No input driver specified, ignoring this device. [ubuntu-studio-devel] ubuntustudio-dev-tools project, and the first tool in it: apt-search
/Kaj -- ubuntu-studio-devel mailing list ubuntu-studio-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-devel

[Bug 1522442] Re: non-free RFC file in qtbase patch
I've checked that the RFC files that are added back in the patch (deleted from the upstream sources in the +dfsg orig tarball) are unmodified from the IETF versions. I'll proceed on checking the options of removing them anyway because it'd be nice to consider getting Debian using the tests too (and because I do value free software purity). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522442 Title: non-free RFC file in qtbase patch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1522442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
