[Bug 1522256] Re: SMB support

2015-12-04 Thread Matthew Exon
I was going to ask how you're browsing the network, and then I just
realised that there's an icon of a folder with a network cable being
plugged into it. How did I not notice that? Duh!

But... well it's not working for me. At least not as well as for you.
I have "Unlock full access" switched on. There's an orange swirly thing
and then it just says "No files". My Macbook is able to browse the
network fine.

I'd like to get things working as well as they are for you because my
share doesn't require authentication. So it might be implemented enough
for me to get access to my stuff.

The first thing to implement is allowing smb:// notation in the "Go"
dialog. That would make it at least possible to enter credentials, and
get some people up and running without the need for complicated UI work.

[Bug 1522725] [NEW] vlc-cache-gen -f broken

2015-12-04 Thread Hanmac
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1522723 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522723

Public bug reported:

something is wrong with "vlc-cache-gen" because for some reason it
doesn’t allow -f parameter any more even if it does say that.

while update it does print:

Trigger for vlc-nox (3.0.0~~git20151203+r62588+34~ubuntu15.10.1) ...
Usage: /usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen [-f]
Generate the LibVLC plugins cache for the specified plugins directory.
WARNING: Regenerating VLC plugin cache failed.
Please run 'vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugins' manually.

testing it:

doesn’t work:
/usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugins
Usage: /usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen [-f]
Generate the LibVLC plugins cache for the specified plugins directory.

does work:
/usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen /usr/lib/vlc/plugins

means either does vlc-cache-gen need to be fixed, or the vlc-nox.postinst
should not use the -f parameter

[Bug 1522650] Re: the user namespace in ubuntu 15.04 can not run correctly

2015-12-04 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1522650/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1522727] [NEW] X.org crashes intermittently, randomly

2015-12-04 Thread Daniel Kraus
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10, X.org crashes intermittently. The
screen will suddenly turn black, and after a few seconds, the LightDM
login screen appears. All unsaved work is lost of course.

A clean install of 15.10 did not help, the problem persists.

It happens absolutely randomly. I haven't been able to figure out any
pattern related to time or specific user interaction that would cause
this, except that I believe the crash is always triggered by some kind
of input device action, i.e. mouse click or key press. The system won't
crash if I don't actively do any work.

[Bug 1240869] Re: nouveau spits errors and hangs when ubuntu search window is openned

2015-12-04 Thread peter swain
I was afflicted by a similar rolling-ttm_validate hang, see bug#1434396
comment#25
Solution in my case was 'apt-get install pam-kwallet5'

If this helps here too, then it might be worth looking at how events
from multiple displays are handled, when they're actually from a common
all-displays client (like the lock screen)

This breaks any system daemon that requires in-band IPMI.

Workaround is to set IPMI_SI="no" in /etc/default/openipmi.

[Bug 1318317] Re: openipmi startup script removes kernel modules

2015-12-04 Thread Jeremy Kerr
We see the same on OpenPower machines. Since we don't use the ipmi_si
interface, the openipmi init script fails, which removes modules which
we do need.

root@g43L:~# grep -B2 IPMI_SI /etc/default/openipmi
# Enable standard hardware interfaces (KCS, BT, SMIC)
# You probably want this enabled.
IPMI_SI=yes
root@g43L:~# modprobe ipmi_devintf

[Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2015-12-04 Thread Mark Nitters
On my system /usr/share/X11/xorg:conf:d/20-intel.conf did not exist.
Creating it with the following content solved the crashes:

me@host:/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d# cat 20-intel.conf
Section "Device"
 Identifier "Card0"
 Driver "Intel"
 Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

Crashes were consistently reproducible when de-maximizing libreoffice
writer

[Bug 1455323] Re: Regression in KDE5 desktop session save / restore

2015-12-04 Thread Pim Klanke
A few weeks ago, directly after updating to 15.10, it did seem to work.
Apparently this was just luck, because now nothing seems to be restored.
When manually restarting Firefox, it tries to restore its windows, but
dumps them all on the current desktop.

[Bug 1470250] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups

2015-12-04 Thread Frederik Bosch
@decui Correct, ceteris paribus, the only changes were more of the same
(disk space) and some package changes through apt-get update (Ubuntu
14.04 LTS). My guess is that the downgrade is related to one of the two.
But I agree, let's postpone this one, until the read-only bug is fixed.
Afterwards, I will upgrade my production kernels to the latest stable
4.x kernel with the patch applied (I just read that the HWE kernel for
14.04 is going to 4.x in January anyhow). Then the performance might be
different after all.

[Bug 1456612] Re: [coachmarks] The discoverability of 'recent call' tab was poor

This is not a dialer issue but more of how the bottom edge hint behaves

[Bug 1522422] Re: PHP5 branch and PHP7 branch

2015-12-04 Thread vinc-q
Just a small clarification, the advantages that the big sites have
obtained using HHVM are ONLY related to performance. Do not insert PHP7
in repository is a big mistake. Certainly you can always compile it,
but why follow this road? What real benefits?

ubuntustudio-dev-tools project, and the first tool in it: apt-search

2015-12-04 Thread Kaj Ailomaa
#ubuntustudio-dev-tools

I started a new project with a code branch that can be used to put any
useful development tools into. ubuntustudio-dev owns the code, and it's
our first git repo on launchpad.

LP project page: https://launchpad.net/ubuntustudio-dev-tools
GIT repo page:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-dev/ubuntustudio-dev-tools/+git/ubuntustudio-dev-tools

# apt-search

Been working on a tool for a few weeks, since I couldn't find a nice way
to make package searches over several release of a distro, and also not
being able to search and compare packages between Debian and Ubuntu.
This kind of tool would be very useful for any flavor developer,
especially for us, I think.

The tool is not finished, but it is already somewhat useful. There are
some bugs, and missing features. I'm calling it apt-search. If you want
to check it out, get the source from the above link, and read the
README.md file for instructions.

It can search for packages in any stable release of Debian or Ubuntu,
using any of the debian/control fields for filtering, and able to output
in html and moin tables, or just the standard output which resembles the
debian/control files format.

Be warned that searching takes a really long time. I'd like to save the
cache in some type of database format in the future, and do db queries
instead. Thinking that would increase performance.

One possible use for this tool would be to compare an LTS release with
following stable releases to see which packages can be backported.
Another is to list packages interesting to us for any particular reason,
like we did for the freedesktop category stuff, though apt-search does
yet not search for files - which is another feature I was planning.

Hope this could be of some use to someone.

/Kaj

[Bug 1522813] [NEW] SteelSeries SRW-S1 wheel steers mouse pointer

2015-12-04 Thread John Murphy
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04, but it's the same for 15.04 and 15.10

xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.9.2-1ubuntu1

When I plug in my SteelSeries SRW-S1 game wheel the mouse pointer is
constrained horizontally unless I use the wheel, which positions the
pointer in the horizontal plane as I steer left or right.

It works fine in kubuntu 14.04

The problem is apparent even during installation of 15.10 and 16.04,
which made my first attempt a bit tricky, until I realised what was
going on.

I installed xserver-xorg-input-evdev-dev and xserver-xorg-input-
joystick-dev, but no difference (I even tried rebooting).

The 16.04 install is just for testing (very impressive. boots from Grub
in 7 seconds!!), so I could probably build a kernel to test any patch,
or could there be an X configuration workaround?

[Bug 1519677] Re: add lxd backend

2015-12-04 Thread Martin Pitt
Parking the work in progress here, to avoid it getting lost. This now
works for some basic use cases, but more complex ones and most of the
tests currently fail due to 'lxc exec' not maintaining stdout+stderr and
mangling line endings.

[Bug 1522772] [NEW] logrotate config file matches the wrong files

Since Kilo the glance-api and glance-registry logfiles have ben renamed

[ubuntu-studio-devel] ubuntustudio-dev-tools project, and the first tool in it: apt-search

/Kaj

I am seeing the same as well, including the observation in comment #18.
Fedora 22 and 23 both display the problem, 22 is using NVIDIA 340 driver, 23 is
using nouveau.
Also my F22 and F23 virtual box machines have no problem at all.
All systems are current updates against the base and updates repositories, no
testing repo's.

[Bug 1516010] Re: "[Warning] TIMESTAMP with implicit DEFAULT value" on install

2015-12-04 Thread Lars Tangvald
The cause is that MySQL used to only support implicit timestamp default
value, which is not according to the SQL spec. When this was fixed, it
was decided to keep the old behavior for historical reasons, but add a
deprecation warning.

Adding the suggested value to the config would remove the warning, but
we'd be changing the default behavior of the server.

[Bug 1500242] Re: Bluetooth devices (Jabra BT250, Audi A3 car kit) can not be connected with BQ Aquaris 4.5

2015-12-04 Thread Uranicus
@Simon:

I will retest with the debugging bluetooth tips.

Abou the A3 issue. I wrote:

-
Audi A3, car kit:

I have tested the rc-propsed version with my Car kit Audi A3 2012 model. There
has been no significant change with this set-up. I can pair the phone with the
car kit but can not establish a connection between the two. So there is not
much to report here
-

So it is not yet fixed! I will roll back to rc-proposed and follow the
above mentioned steps hopefully during the weekend. I hope to give you
then a good feedback.

@Tony & Simon:

I did the test with the following rc-proposed version:

[Bug 1511538] Re: 1/2 screen on external monitor

2015-12-04 Thread Alan Griffiths
This sounds like the cumulative effect of a number of Mir bugs in the
display configuration handling that resulted in the surfaces composited
by a nested server appearing in the wrong place.

It is plausible that the fixes landed up to -r3056 have resolved this
(they certainly address Mir issues in this area) - but I was waiting for
the 0.18 release to test with the full stack.

[Bug 1522150] Re: Cut off messages

2015-12-04 Thread Krzysztof Tataradziński
@Michał, I've got two problems: one that message is cut off. Second is related
to diacritics.
About first one: could anyone test that with sending message by entered by
Swype keyboard (and add some emoticons from it)?
I think that second problem isn't related to Hangouts/Swype or even android.
Sometimes I receive with diacritics, sometimes not.
@Tiago, that logs are really big. How can I find some personal info and hide
them?

[Bug 1098566] Re: SST fails with innodb_data_home_dir/innodb_log_home_dir

2015-12-04 Thread Krunal Bauskar
Case-1:

5.6.26 (latest one from trunk)
2.2.12 (Xtrabackup)

What I observed
* on node#2 with datadir and innodb_data_home_dir all files except ibdata1 is
created in datadir and ibdata1 is created in innodb_data_home_dir. Server
starts perfectly fine. No issue on that front.

Case-2:

5.6.26 (latest one from trunk)
2.3.2 (Xtrabackup)

What I observed

* on node#2 with datadir and innodb_data_home_dir all files are created in
datadir and so when server try to consult innodb_data_home_dir for the said
ibdata1 file it doesn't find it and so it trigger creation of new ibdata1 and
then eventually fails.
(Creation of new ibdata1 files set the mode of create_new_db which then also
try to create iblogfiles* but iblogfiles* are created in datadir where they
already exist and so finally server then aborts with error).

[Bug 1522442] Re: non-free RFC file in qtbase patch

2015-12-04 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I've checked that the RFC files that are added back in the patch
(deleted from the upstream sources in the +dfsg orig tarball) are
unmodified from the IETF versions.

I'll proceed on checking the options of removing them anyway because
it'd be nice to consider getting Debian using the tests too (and because
I do value free software purity).
