Re: [ubuntu-in] grub missing
Just use the livecd to boot into system and in the shell , use grub-install command to install grub into the system . That should work . if the grub-install command complains of anything , post it here .. Re: [ubuntu-in] how to hack wi-fi network in ubantu 10.4?
Well, cracking a wifi network without the owner's permission is not a nice thing to do . But if it is for informational purposes under a controlled environment , you can do that with kismet and aircrack . WEP keys are fairly easy to crack , but not the same for wpa . Re: [ubuntu-in] Upgrading directly to 10.04 LTS from 8.04 LTS
I am not sure whether u can upgrade from 8.04 to 10.04 directly . Anyway all I can say is that YOU CANT UPGRADE YOUR UBUNTU WITH A LIVE CD . You should download the ALTERNATE CD iso image from the site and mount it . The package manager automatically asks if you want to upgrade the distro , once the mount is done . On Sun, May 16, 2010 at 1:15 PM, Danish Lala danish.l...@gmail.com wrote: Hello! Why don't someone suggest a way to upgrade from the CD?? Will be better if someone will guide me through. I run 8.04 and am want to install 10.04. Any help in this regards i sappreciated. Thank you. Ubuntu User, Danish Lala. Re: [ubuntu-in] Two questions about 10.04 (Lucid Lynx)
I upgraded to 10.04 from karmic a few days ago . As of now , I haven't experienced anything special . Everything's as it was (at least most ) . Then , there maybe some new features , like the MeMenu , which i don't use ;) and the Ubuntu One is working fine now. I think the boot time is slightly improved (not sure ) . Overall , I don't think it is any necessary to upgrade to 10.04 unless u are curious or want to try out the latest stuff . Also , the upgrade may fail , in case you may 've to do a lot of work . [ubuntu-in] BSNL Broadband does not work through Network Manager Applet in Ubuntu 9.10
-- Forwarded message -- oops the reply was big , so i cut it off and reply again . hope this is not a problem . the original reply is : Hi . First of all i don't see any reason why you need to configure dsl in network manager . Doesn't your modem auto connect to the internet ??? almost all modems do .. the way most of us connect to dataone (or any other adsl ) is to configure the connection in the modem itself , i.e give the usename , password and other info in the modem and tell it to always remain connected . Then in Ubuntu , the next only step remaining is to give the DNS address in the network manager app . Then , conecerning your problems wid network manager appp like no option to connect and it forgetting the new connections etc , as far as i know it has got some bugs , especially with setting static ip etc . If such anomalies persist in network manager , try WICD . I use wicd instead of network manager ..
