Public bug reported: When I tried to drag the file named "estudo_stilingue\O_Espiritismo_de_Chico_Xavier_aos_olhos_da_Intelig├кncia_Artificial_(pesquisa).pdf" from the attached estudo_stilingue.zip to my home directory, the result was a directory named "estudo_stilingue" and a file "O_Espiritismo_de_Chico_Xavier_aos_olhos_da_Intelig├кncia_Artificial_(pesquisa).pdf" inside it. In fact, maybe the correct behaviour would be to show the directory "estudo_stilingue" and the pdf inside it in file-roller itself. Public bug reported: Certain Portuguese words like "Atualizações" or "Preferências" (meaning Updates and Preferences) are shown with the characters "õe" and "ên" overlapping, as they were only one character. To reproduce this bug we need Firefox 47 and Cantarell regular as UI font. My system is a Ubuntu 16.04 which was "converted" to Ubuntu Gnome installing ubuntu-gnome-desktop package. I remember everything was fine with Firefox 46. Switching the UI font to Ubuntu regular fixes the problem as well. I have tried kernel 3.14.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 and then hci0 was finally up and I could connect it to my old wiimote, but since my main goal was to connect to the new Wii U pro controller and it didn't pair, I decided to buy a new bluetooth adapter. This time, I reverted the kernel to the default 3.13. It worked fine and paired with the controller as well. I noticed the top bar gets fixed when I installed cantarell fonts. Something happens when a font package is installed that fixes most of Gnome Shell. The tooltips are still distorted, though. Example: - Open gedit - Notice its window title is Untitled Document 1 - gedit - Type anything and same the document as something.txt - The window title is not updated It should show the name of the file have just saved. Empathy worked with GTalk two days ago, but today GTalk seems to be connected but everybody is shown offline. I know they are online because of the client in GMail. There is nothing wrong with my LG DVD/RW. I've just tested with a Samsung DVD/RW. Same problem. After that, I searched for nVidia MCP61 IDE and found someone with similar problem. I seems that this motherboard doesn't work well with older IDE DVD drives. There are some forums suggesting that this problem is related to a bug in firmware. So I updated it from 1.02 to 1.06. Palimpsest confirms the update. Now I can watch Alias season One, but still can't watch Lord of the Rings. I have no idea why. Solution! (at least for me) I have 3 machines: a notebook, a desktop at home and another desktop at work. All running Ubuntu 10.04. The notebook and work's desktop had Facebook working OK on gwibber, but I couldn't add it in my home's desktop because of the missing Add button. Then I noticed I didn't have my Ubuntu One account configured in my home's desktop. After setting up Ubuntu One, the Add and Cancel buttons appeared after Facebook's authorization. It's working now. I've just tested the code attached here with this option Dave told us. It works. Nothing freezes but the application itself. Thus, it's definitely not a bug in Xorg or any driver. I could only reproduce with JComboBox. I found it because I was debugging an action in a combo box in my project. It does not depend on Thread.sleep at all. Xorg remains frozen not matter what we put inside the action: a sleep, a long CPU intensive computation, I/O or a breakpoint. We can put Thread.sleep in other parts of the code with no effect. This bug only occurs in Intel and ATI boards, as far as I know. Your video board is a nVidia GeForce 8600M GT. Maybe this problem occurs only with Intel drivers. A friend has just confirmed that in another machine with Intel video board, the same bug happens. Forget about Eclipse or SWT. I have just executed the XLock class replacing the breakpoint with a Thread.sleep(5000). I ran it in a terminal with $ java xlock.XLock. [Bug 394753] [NEW] Navigation panel cannot be reopened in Kompare
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kompare I closed the Navigation panel clicking on the X button. It is not possible to reopen it. There is no GUI to do it. Que mané dpkg, rapá. Isso é passado. :) Não discordo que devemos falar de como fazer instalação via terminal, mas isso deveria ser a segunda opção. Basta clicar duas vezes num arquivo deb que o GDebi abre, dá informações sobre o cara, diz se as dependências estão satisfeitas e instala com um clique. No aspecto das dependências, é melhor que usar dpkg. Pois esse último instala o cara com dependências faltantes e deixa o pacote quebrado no sistema, se não me engano. Usar rpm em um sistema derivado do Debian, como o Ubuntu, também é totalmente desrecomendado. O rpm não sabe o que o dpkg instalou e vice-versa. A variável LD_LIBRARY_PATH contém uma lista de diretórios separados por ; onde o sistema irá procurar por determinada biblioteca de carregamento dinâmico. Em Linux, essas bibliotecas são arquivos com extensão .so. São os equivalentes aos arquivos .dll do ruindows. Essa variável funciona de forma semelhante ao PATH que serve pra encontrar arquivos executáveis. Na verdade, quando um programa precisa, digamos, de uma libGL.so (para o OpenGL), o sistema procura esse arquivo nos diretórios listados na LD_LIBRARY_PATH, depois no arquivo /etc/ld.so.cache e por último nos diretórios /usr/lib e /lib. Sobre documentação e, português sobre isso, não encontrei nada muito legal, mas tem isso aqui: http://man.cx/dlopen(3)/pt Outra dica legal é o comando ldd. Ao dar um ldd /bin/ls, ele lista todas as bibliotecas que o executável ls precisa pra rodar. Qualquer galho, avise. Que confusão. Primeiro, existe uma biblioteca em C++ que provê arrays dinâmicos, algoritmos, listas, arrays associativos, etc. Esta se chama Standard Template Library[1]. Não é uma linguagem, é uma biblioteca. Normalmente, se alguém codifica algo em C++, seja pra processamento de imagem ou qualquer outro fim, usa STL. Por outro lado, uma busca na web, me levou à descoberta do Simple Template Language[2]. Esta serve para desenvolvimento web, misturando código Python a página HTML. Não deve ser seu caso, eu acho. Agora, já que você falou em processamento de imagens e Python, lembrei o NumPy[3] que é parte do SciPy[4], se não me engano. Com o NumPy, é possível fazer grandes operações com matrizes de forma bem rápida, da mesma forma que se faz com Matlab (ou Octave[5]). Ajudaria se você desse mais detalhes sobre o que está procurando, incluindo referências. A empresa liberou os fontes dos drivers para Linux e a performance é comparável à uma Nvidia 5700 ou uma ATI 9600. Um pouco mais lenta, em geral. Falando das Nvidias, note que a série 5 faz muito mais do que a série 4. Renderização programável por pixel (pixel shader), por exemplo, só é possível a partir da 5. É compreensível que se desenhe mais rápido, quando se tem um pipeline mais simples. Se um jogo ou aplicativo não usa recursos mais novos, uma 4200 é melhor que uma 5200 sim. Porém, alguns jogos mais modernos, podem ter dois algoritmos, um com pixel shader e outro sem. Este último pode usar recursos antigos para simular o efeito desejado e, nesse caso, a imagem fica pior e a renderização é mais lenta. Seguindo essa linha, pode ser mais interessante comprar uma 6800 do que uma 7200. A boa parte dos jogos não usa ou vive bem sem os recursos da linha 7 e as *800 tem mais processadores do que as *200. Isso é só teoria, mas acho que ajuda na escolha das placas... Ouvi falar que o fabricante da placa em si (e não do chipset que é nvidia) influencia muito. Talvez por isso algumas pessoas sejam tão descontentes com a série 5. No meu caso, quando a minha 5200 queimou, troquei por uma 6200 (que não é turbo cache) com o dobro de memória que não melhorou em nada o desempenho com o Quake 4 ou Doom 3. Talvez as duas sejam ruins, na verdade. Sobre vortex shaders, eu não conheço. Talvez você esteja confundindo com vertex shaders. Estes estão presentes desde a série 4. Agora, pra saber de verdade sobre performance, ajuda muito procurar benchmarks por aí. Eu uso no Edgy e funciona 100%. Para imprimir, basta adicionar a impressora com o driver C3100 em sistema/administração/imprimindo. Para escanear, basta ir em aplicações/gráficos/xsane e ele reconhece sozinho. Para usar o leitor, basta espetar um cartão. Sobre resolução, parece ser 1200dpi. Sobre durabilidade, não sei dizer. Quando eu fiz alguns testes há algum tempo, se o AGP estivesse desligado, a placa aparecia como PCI em alguns lugares, inclusive no nvidia-settings. Nesse caso, a única coisa que você vai perder é em transferência de texturas para a placa. Isso não afeta em nada o desempenho de renderização. É possível jogar Doom 3 sem AGP com essa placa. Comprei um placa GeForce 6200, instalei, configurei, aparentemente tá funcionando direitinho. Só por curiosidade fui prucurar informações sobre ela no sistema. Trata-se de uma placa para barramento AGP, mas tanto no glxinfo, quanto no gerenciador de dispositivo e no nvidia setings aparece PCI. Tá correto isso? Não é nem PCI Express, é PCI mesmo no glxinfo: OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 6200/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! no gerenciador de dispositivos: selecionando Geforce, na aba dispositivo: Tipo de Bar PCI no nvidia setings: Bus Type: PCI até no xorg.conf aparece PCI É paranóia minha ou tá configurado errado mesmo? Ela não parece estar mal configurada. Hoje eu rodei simultaneamente Beryl + Google Earth + Torcs + FlightGear (os dois último são jogos 3d). O computador só começou a lerdar um pouco com o último. Como eu nunca usei uma placa de vídeo, não sei se essa resposta é realmente boa, ou se eu é que estou deslumbrado. Essa minha dúvida é por que eu ouvi que é possível ligar um dispositivo AGP num barramento PCI, o que reduziria sua capacidade. Nas preferências do Streamtuner, em 'aplicações', tem como especificar os programas que são utilizados para cada ação. O Streamripper é utilizador, por padrão, para gravar rádios. Aliás, fica como dica olhar a lista de recomendados e sugeridos dos pacotes. Por exemplo, o Streamripper está na lista de sugeridos do Streamtuner. É possível ver essa lista clicando o botão direito no pacote no Synaptic. Pois é. Eu fiz isso recentemente. Eu costumo testar a nova distro no /dev/hda3 e, quando estou mais seguro, faço a cópia para o /dev/hda2, onde estava a versão anterior. Não que eu recomende essa prática para ninguém. É só uma idéia. Li e estudei o livro completo, li os tutoriais nos sites, instalei no segundo HD do meu computador e ele funcionou maravilhosamente. Por um dia... Parou de iniciar o X no dia seguinte. Refiz a instalação, particionei um espaço menor para o sistema, coloquei o home num partição separada, criei a partição de swap... E nada de dar o boot. Reinstalei com o boot pelo Lilo e não pelo Grub e não deu certo. Rodei o Kubuntu 6.10 pelo Live-Cd e funcionou perfeitamente. Instalei e a tela ficou tão distorcida que nem os controles do monitor conseguiam corrigir. Usei o driver genérico e o da Sansung. Com o da Sansung as opções de resolução aumentaram, mas as distorções continuaram do mesmo jeito. Todas as distros que experimentei, Ubuntu 6.04, Ubuntu 6.10, Kurumin 6.1, Kurumin 7.0, Famelix, Dreamlinux, Mandriva 2007, Knoppix 5, funcionaram muito bem do Live-CD, mas uma vez instaladas, só davam problemas. Tenho um Pentium IV com 1Gb de RAM, placa ATI Radeon 9600, sem acesso à internet ou rede. Usei tanto os drivers opensource quanto os do fabricante da placa de video e nada deu certo. Não instalei o Beryl, mas mesmo assim o X não iniciava no Kurumin ou a tela distorcia no Kubuntu. Porque as distros funcionam tão bem no CD, mas não no HD? Existe solução? O X faz o papel de 'servidor de janelas', ou seja, ele fica esperando requisições dos seus clientes que são os programas, como um gedit, por exemplo. Esses programas, pedem 'abre uma janela', 'desenha um retângulo na cor tal', 'desenha esse texto com a fonte tal', etc e ele repassa pra placa de vídeo. Sacou? O driver da placa de vídeo serve para o X, no nosso caso o X.org. O 'gerenciador de janelas' é mais um cliente do X que tem um papel especial: desenhar as bordas das janelas. O default do Gnome é o Metacity. O Beryl é um carinha novo que aproveita as novas funcionalidades de OpenGL para criar efeitos divertidos. Para isso funcionar, existe uma arquitetura por baixo que traz umas modificações no X para poder usar melhor o OpenGL. Na verdade são duas, o XGL, que surgiu primeiro, e o AIGLX, que parece ser mais legal hoje em dia. Basta ter um driver que tenha suporte e configurar o X para usar composição que o Beryl ou Compiz passam a poder funcionar. O Beryl é um fork do Compiz, ou seja, um pessoal ficou insatisfeito com o andar da carruagem do Compiz e pegou os fontes e criou um projeto novo. Isso é saudável e você pode fazê-lo também, o código é livre. O mesmo ocorreu com o XFree e o X.org, o Sodipodi e o Inkscape, o XMMS e o BMP, etc. Pelo que eu entendi, você já resolveu o problema de instabilidade com o seu micro, não? Se está com medo, é melhor continuar do jeito que está. Beryl é só firula para impressionar os amigos. Não torna a vida mais fácil. E ele ainda é meio beta, então é provável que você experimente alguns bugs. Acho que nada que impeça de usar. Segundo sei, tem muita gente usando direto. Quanto à memória, acho que não gasta muito mais não. Nem processamento. O esperado é que ele use recursos da placa de vídeo para fazer as brincadeiras. O que aliás, para ela é moleza. Por favor, tenha paciência. É difícil entender o que está acontecendo. Só temos a sua descrição para nos guiar. Como você sabe que não é carregado corretamente? O que você vê? Mande os logs do X, o dmesg e talvez alguém possa reconhecer o problema. Você consegue usar o Gnome, mas não tem aceleração 3d? é isso? Ou o X não aparece? Mande também o link do tutorial que você seguiu. Compilar o kernel não é cabeludo, mas não é necessário e não acredito que vá resolver nada. Meu véio, não é pra editar o que está dentro do start e do end DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST. Isso é gerado tomaticamente a partir dos kernels que vc tem instalado no seu ubuntu. Depois do seu end tem só um windows. Põe o mandriva lá. Não sei se é isso que tá dando galho, mas me pareceu um equívoco. Outra coisa: esse kernel e initrd tem que referenciar arquivos que existam no mandriva. Vê lá na partição dele, se eles existem mesmo. Aliás, uma dica, é olhar em /boot/grub/menu.lst do próprio mandriva e copiar o trecho para o final do menu.lst do ubuntu. Deveria haver uma ferramenta gráfica para isso. A boa nova é que o kqemu é GPL agora. O próximo Ubuntu, o Feisty virá com ele e aliás, virá também com o qemu-launcher que facilita um pouco. O kqemu, segundo esse site [1] é mais eficiente do que o virtualbox e o vmware. O vmware é só player, é de código fechado e é o mais devagar dos três. O virtualbox [2] tem performance legalzinha e tem uma GUI fácil de usar. Tem pacote pro Edgy no site deles. Porém tem uns bugs com teclado ABNT e não roda Feisty, por enquanto. Eu baixei os fontes do SVN deles (já roda o Feisty) e corrigi parcialmente o lance do teclado. Assim que lançarem nova versão, deve ficar tudo legal. Qualquer dúvida, mande! Apenas o activex é que dá um galho. E nos comentários, encontrei esse link [2]. Parece um VB para linux. Dá uma olhada. Quanto à escolha da tecnologia, por que migrar para Java? É melhor do VB, por vários motivos, mas existem outras opções mais interessantes em se tratando de Linux, como Python e Gtk+ [3]. Eu já ia dizer que essa página não iria me ajudar, mas resolvi dar uma segunda lida. Não é que resolveu o problema? :) Gente burra merece sofrer mesmo. Bem, recapitulando, o firestarter é uma interface gráfica que facilita a configuração e monitoramento de um firewall. Ele, por trás dos panos, mexe com o iptables. Legal isso. Uso internet através de um dispositivo PPPoE, então configurei o firestarter para filtrar eventos desse cara. A partir daí, ele passou só a olhar para essa interface, a ppp0. E aí funciona direito, bloqueia, libera acessos de acordo com sua vontade. O problema é que tenho outra máquina espetada no hub aqui, acessada via interface eth0. Só que essa interface foi totalmente bloqueada pelo firestarter. Não era possível dar nem um ssh da minha para a outra. O firestarter bloqueou saída também. A solução estava na página que o Joaquim mandou. É possível colocar uns comandos extras no arquivo /etc/firestarter/user-pre para customizar o firestarter. No meu caso, eu pus: $IPT -t filter -A INPUT -i eth0 -j ACCEPT $IPT -t filter -A OUTPUT -o eth0 -j ACCEPT Agora tenho acesso à minha rede local de novo. E já testei o firewall depois disso. Hum. Ao dar boot e instalar, é a mesma coisa. A diferença é que se você, depois de instalado, colocar o DVD no drive, esse disco pode ser adicionado como repositório e, obviamente, tem bem mais pacotes do que o CD. É possível instalar o inkscape assim, por exemplo.
