[Bug 1828597] Re: KDump boot fails with nr_cpus=1

2019-09-30 Thread Andrew Cloke
Even though the bionic and disco verifications were successful (thanks
for verifying), these patches were bundled in a single submission with
other patches (from other bugs) which could not be successfully
verified. As a result, all patches have had to be removed.

Next step is to re-upload new version of makedumpfile.

[Bug 1837443] Re: [Power9][Witherspoon dd2.3] unable to set hwclock

2019-09-02 Thread Andrew Cloke
Thanks to Dimitri for pointing out that the comment #2 is not designed
to actually SET the HW Clock from the host, but to ALLOW the HW Clock to
be set with /sbin/hwclock. I had completely missed this.

Next step is to try the sequence described in comment #2 (on the BMC and
also on the host), and then retry using /sbin/hwclock on the host to
change the HW clock time.

[Bug 1752002] Re: [P9, POwer NV][WSP][DD2.1][Ubuntu 1804][Perf fuzzer] : Call trace is seen while running perf fuzzer (perf:)

2019-09-02 Thread Andrew Cloke
@IBM, do the patches that were included in the PPA in comment #14
completely address a discrete issue? Or do we need to wait for further
patches to be identified and upstreamed?

If the patches included in the PPA from comment #14 do address a
concrete issue, then I would suggest re-focusing this bug on that issue,
and raising a new bug for the other issues...

[Bug 1837443] Re: [Power9][Witherspoon dd2.3] unable to set hwclock

2019-07-25 Thread Andrew Cloke
I believe /sbin/hwclock is the default tool for manually setting the
hwclock in Linux. I’m nervous that higher level workloads may depend on
the correct functioning of the /sbin/hwclock tool for their successful
operation.

The /sbin/hwclock tool is shipped with the util-linux package.

Adding util-linux as impacted and assigning to Foundations team to
comment on whether the /sbin/hwclock tool not operating on witherspoon
is a serious issue or not.

[Bug 1827318] Re: ubuntu_blktrace_smoke_test failed on Bionic P9

2019-05-20 Thread Andrew Cloke
Re-assigning to kernel-team, as blktrace is a Universe package.

Po-Hsu Lin, does the kernel-test suite rely on blktrace for it's correct
operation, or is this an issue with the kernel-test suite?

Foundations have asked that you reach out directly to them if you
require blktrace fixed.
