[Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon
If they Unity designers said The launcher is only for launching -- I might disagree, but I'd understand. It would be viewed like the list of apps in Android or iOS. But when you say the launcher is for launching and spreading applications -- and then it supports quicklists..then the message is The launcher is for launching and controlling application windows. So then allow us to minimize a window from the launcher when there is only one application window open. Especially since spread does not do anything when there is one window openat which point clicking the button does nothing...which is counter-intuitive. Here's me training my wife on this about 4 months ago: me: Here is a button. It's always right there. my wife:Great! me: It is always enabled. my wife: Thats easy. me: When you click on it, something useful happens my wife: I get it! me: Unless the application associated with the button is currently running and has one and only one window open on the current workspace -- in which case clicking on the enabled button will do nothing and provide you with no feedback whatsoever so that you think your computer might by locked up or your mouse button broke...but its not...everything is just fine...just don't do that. my wife: you computer guys suck... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/733349 Title: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/733349/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

However, unless the following conditions are met, I am unable to select a status in the menu -- it always selects Offline. 1) Empathy must be installed (I don't use it, so this was a drag) 2) Empathy must have at least one non-IRC telepathy account enabled (this is also a bummer, but I didn't have one previously) I think that users should be able to select their status at any time regardless of what Unity thinks is installed or configured as their could be many more application that can drive and be driven from that status. [Bug 990002] Re: Slow Dash animation
I have three machines running 12.04 and Dash is extraordinarily slow on 2 of the 3. One of the slow machines is a Dell XPS mlaptop with an nVidia GeForce 7400 Go. The video card is reasonably fast when running all manner of compiz animations, but as soon as I open Dash, my machine starts grinding. am embarrassed to say the problem for me was that I was running unity 2d. I assumed it would run 3d because I always ran compiz in the past. Also, it was difficult to find out which I was running as they look very similar. It turns out my nVidia card was blacklisted because of Unity freezing issues with the latest nvidia driver. http://askubuntu.com/questions/37629/geforce-go-7300-7400-blacklisted- can-i-still-run-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878536 Title: Launcher option Hide launcher in Compiz CSM doesn't work with setting Never To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/878536/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
