[Bug 1965800] [NEW] debhelper in focal-backports not usable for i386 package building (missing dependency)
Public bug reported: focal-backports contains debhelper 13.5.2ubuntu1~bpo20.04.1. This is an architecture-independent package, but it depends on debugedit, which is architecture-dependent. The debugedit package exists in focal-universe for amd64, but not for i386. As a result, Launchpad is not able to build PPA packages targeting focal i386 that require debhelper-compat (= 13). This would appear to be an oversight. It does not affect bionic, hirsuite, impish, or jammy; all of these contain the debugedit:i386 package. [Bug 1632183] Re: saned not find scanner that scanimage -L finds
There shouldn't be a problem here. The purpose of saned is to share scanners that are physically attached to the local system, so that remote systems can use them. If the scanner is already accessible over the network, a remote system can connect to it without using saned. > do_bindings: [0] bind failed: Address already in use This seems like you have more than one process listening for an incoming connection to saned. [Bug 1890464] Re: Can not scan as user
Please see the "SETUP" section of /usr/share/libsane1/doc/README.Debian.gz. You must either be logged into a physical console on the system (not an SSH/VNC session) - or if you want to bypass that requirement, you must add the user to the "scanner" group. This is expected behavior. (Adding the user to the "lp" group happens to work because your device is also a printer - but that's technically not the right answer for scanning.) [Bug 543183]
@J.C. Jones Can you kindly undo your recent change to the status of this bug? @David Woodhouse: p11-kit-trust.so only handles CA certificates; it does not pull in the PKCS#11 security module configuration, which is stored in the system-wide NSS database. This is required where smart cards are used (using security modules such as OpenSC, either directly or via the p11-kit-proxy security module). This was part of the issue reported with this bug. As it stands now, the PKCS#11 module configuration still has to be manually added to every Firefox/Thunderbird profile after the application is first launched by the user and the NSS databases are created at that time. Changes to the system-wide NSS database won't propagate (for example, if the system administrator replaces the CoolKey module with OpenSC). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/543183 Title: Updating system certificates requires rebuild To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/543183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 72584] Re: Installing Mozilla-opensc package not enough to use smart cards
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1647285 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647285 Firefox and Thunderbird each use a local NSS database, which is part of the profile in the user's home directory. It is created when the application is launched by the user for the first time. For these applications to automatically load the OpenSC PKCS#11 module, there would need to be a system-wide NSS security module database, in which the OpenSC PKCS#11 module could be installed. This has been done in Fedora but not Ubuntu; see bug #1647285. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72584 Title: Installing Mozilla-opensc package not enough to use smart cards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/opensc/+bug/72584/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
