[Bug 2060993] [NEW] Startup applications / gnome-session-properties does not persist between logins
Public bug reported: Having installed Guake I tried adding `/usr/bin/guake --hide` to Startup Applications. However, it was not in the list of startup applications when I next booted. I tested logging off and logging on again and found it wasn't persisting between logins. Data I entered was: Name: Guake Command: /usr/bin/guake --hide Comment: Guake terminal I also tried just command=/usr/bin/guake ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 Package: gnome-startup-applications 46.0-1ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.8.0-22.22-generic 6.8.1 Uname: Linux 6.8.0-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.28.0-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Thu Apr 11 17:22:47 2024 InstallationDate: Installed on 2024-04-09 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS "Noble Numbat" - Beta amd64 (20240409) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash TERM=xterm-256color XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= SourcePackage: gnome-session UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug noble -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060993 Title: Startup applications / gnome-session-properties does not persist between logins To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/2060993/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2060575] Re: gnome-keyring fails to automatically unlock login keyring after recent updates in noble
It seems that the usual password keyring called Login is not automatically created in gnome-keyring. In fact there are no credentials of any kind in there on logging in after a clean install. If you change your password via the control panel, the login keyring is then created. However, when you reboot the Login keyring is not automatically unlocked, as it should be. So, any items you have stored in there are not accessible and you are asked for the password when a service needs credentials from it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060575 Title: gnome-keyring fails to automatically unlock login keyring after recent updates in noble To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/2060575/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2060667] [NEW] No default keyring and does not unlock on login
Public bug reported: On a fresh install of Ubuntu 24.04 numbat, gnome-keyring does not seem to be properly configured. If I attempt to add an online account via settings > online accounts, after authentication with the online account gnome-keyring prompts me to create a default keyring because one does not exist yet, so I cancelled. Opening gnome-keyring reveals there is no entry under Passwords when I think there should be a "Login" password keyring that's automatically unlocked on login. Setting a new password via settings > system > users creates a new Loging keyring. However, this keyring is not automatically unlocked on login. So, whenever I first use an app after login that uses a keyring, such as connecting to Google drive via Nautilus, I'm prompted for the keyring password. [Bug 1876992] Re: X11 session crash on using Gimp or LibreOffice
Reviewing bug 1868519, it certainly matches the situation. Mouse movement is the trigger for the crash. For gimp it's moving the mouse after opening or creating an image. [Bug 1875645] [NEW] Graphics corruption on shell on login screen and session screen
Public bug reported: After upgrading from 19.10 to 20.04 I am seeing blocky green and purple artefacts on icons, background images and text. This is visible on the login screen and once logged in. Only the "shell" is corrupted and any subsequent changes, such as changing the background image, are displayed without corruption. The corruption is random but it is predictable that it will appear on the launcher icons, background image and shell menu icons and text. I've tried swapping between available graphics drivers but it makes no difference. Text corruption in menus is on particular glyphs selected at random. In the screen shots, for example, all upper-case and lower-case 'O's are currupted but on a subsequent reboot the affected glyphs will vary. On filing this bug I also notice that the pop-up modal password requests also displayed the corrupted glyphs. No programms run subsequently will display any problems. [Bug 1829374] [NEW] On slow network connections, users authenticated by LDAP are not assigned to groups
Public bug reported: We have be struggling with intermittent problems with LDAP on users' desktop Ubuntu PCs. When they log in, they are often not added to any groups apart from their matching user group, e.g. "john" would only be assigned to the "john" group but should also be in "adm". We enabled logging in nslcd.conf and observed that user group data was being received, it just wasn't being used. We have separately discovered that those PCs were only connecting to the local network at 100MBits due to a cable problem. This issue has been resolved and now that the PCs connect at 1000MBits, the LDAP groups problem has gone away. I believe there is a race condition bug when user sessions are created. Re: [Bug 1827354] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop reports error on startup
Hi Daniel I can look tonight. David David White From: boun...@canonical.com on behalf of Daniel van Vugt Sent: Friday, May 3, 2019 11:53:54 AM To: dju.wh...@gmail.com Subject: [Bug 1827354] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop reports error on startup When you get the "error" dialog that means something crashed, so... Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1827354 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop reports error on startup Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: david@david-OptiPlex-9010:~$ sudo lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS david@david-OptiPlex-9010:~$ sudo apt-cache policy pulseaudio pulseaudio: Installed: 1:11.1-1ubuntu7.2 Candidate: 1:11.1-1ubuntu7.2 Version table: *** 1:11.1-1ubuntu7.2 500 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:11.1-1ubuntu7 500 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages Error Log: [pulseaudio] bluez5-util.c: GetManagedObjects() failed: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1759300 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1759300 I found a solution. This works for Dell XPS 15 with touchpad with physical click under the touchpad: In Ubuntu Settings > Devices > Mouse and touchpad set "Tap to click" to OFF In Gnome tweaks > Keyboard & Mouse > Mouse click emulation choose "Area". [Bug 1336801] Re: 12.04 guest hangs on a 14.04 host server
Hi Serge. Update on this post. It seems that the problem is the display driver choice in the VM settings. The steps I took in installing were: Click New VM button in virt-manager Type in name and select local install media. Press Forward. Select an ISO image. OS Type Linux. Version Ubuntu 12.04 (this is the template I was referring to). After much experimenting I managed to solve the problem by selecting VGA video mode in the VM's settings. The default causing the problem was Cirrus. Now that I've got network set up on the VM I've just run the it with Cirrus graphics and am seeing the same problems but I can ssh in. So, it would appear that the console freezes rather than the whole VM freezing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1336801 Title: 12.04 guest hangs on a 14.04 host server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1336801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've found this issue happens intermitently on my setup: Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.10) (7u25-2.3.10-1ubuntu0.13.04.2) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode) I get an intermitent crash when decoding JPEGs, decoding in several threads. I get intermitent colour issues with decoded JPEGs where the image is totally mid-green except for areas that are dark which tend to black. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 300802] [NEW] URL support broken or removed?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: eog older versions supported HTTP URLs as [FILE...] argument using eog v2.22.3 on ubuntu hardy (8.04.1) ~$ eog --version GNOME eog 2.22.3 ~$ eog http://chart.finance.yahoo.com/c/1y/m/mvl displays the image (PNG file) as expected using eog v2.24.1 on ubuntu intrepid (8.10) ~$ eog --version GNOME eog 2.24.1 ~$ eog http://chart.finance.yahoo.com/c/1y/m/mvl this displays an error in the eog window: No images found in 'http://chart.finance.yahoo.com/c/1y/m/mvl'. however ~$ wget http://chart.finance.yahoo.com/c/1y/m/mvl -O mvl.png ~$ eog mvl.png works as expected I verified that URLs pointing to jpg or gif images also fail, so it appears to be a general problem with the URL scheme, and not an image format problem. Has URL support been removed or is it just broken? There's nothing in the release notes indicating removal (but maybe I missed it). ** Affects: eog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- URL support broken or removed? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300802 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
