I concur. The Star Apps feature may be nice, but not so nice that it
takes up a quarter of the screen. A simple icon should do.

[Bug 809928] [NEW] Tests refer to OpenOffice instead of LibreOffice

2011-07-13 Thread DavidBaucum
Public bug reported:

In the tests to see if LibreOffice is properly opening up office documents, the
program is instead referring to OpenOffice. Example:
Now we will attempt to open the file
'/usr/share/checkbox/data/documents/Derivatives_of_Ubuntu.doc' with its default
viewer. After the viewer opens, check out the file that was opened and then
close the application (OpenOffice, Doc Viewer, etc.)

This should read as follows to reflect the default software configuration of
Ubuntu:
Now we will attempt to open the file
'/usr/share/checkbox/data/documents/Derivatives_of_Ubuntu.doc' with its default
viewer. After the viewer opens, check out the file that was opened and then
close the application (LibreOffice, Doc Viewer, etc.)

2010-08-26 Thread DavidBaucum
I got this bug as well when trying to copy a CD. I have the latest brasero and
cdrdao that are in the repos.
i'm not sure why this is marked as Opinion When an application throws an
error in place of doing its proper activity, that is a bug.

[Bug 569543] Re: Could not identify preference: username Could not identify preference: session_key failure yet authed for services

2010-07-30 Thread DavidBaucum
I tried removing Gwibber from the applications list in Facebook. I then
went into Gwibber to try to add it back. After putting in my e-mail
address and password I got back from Facebook An error occurred with
Gwibber. Please try again later. When I click Okay the Broadcast
Accounts window freezes. Nothing shows up on the terminal.

I am having the same problem. This is a headless box that we use XDMCP to get
a graphical login (via Cygwin and other X clients.) Login started giving us a
blank screen after an update that came in over the weekend. X is started, but
gdm won't start.

2010-04-01 Thread DavidBaucum
I just grabbed all the latest updates, kernel and all. Closing the lid
successfully suspends the machine. Opening the lid successfully bring me back
to my desktop.
The only problem is that when it wakes back up there is a slight graphical
glitch in the Date/Time applet. I'm not sure if the glitch is in the applet or
somewhere else.

2010-03-31 Thread DavidBaucum
I have grabbed all the latest updates and tried to reproduce the
problem. Now when I close my lid it goes to sleep. It used to shut
down upon the crash. Now when I open the lid it properly wakes up,
except I'm back at the login screen, not back to my logged in session.
I don't get an xorg crash report.

2010-02-11 Thread DavidBaucum
I have installed the .deb from Debian and it works great. However,
having the app crash is enough to make most users give up on trying at
all. Keeping something broken because Googling and finding a fix that
is beyond what users should be expected to do is not really the kind of
quality people expect from a world class OS.
