Re: [Bug 1241632] Re: LDAP support auth not working
* Konstantin Khomoutov flatw...@users.sourceforge.net [2013-10-18 17:18:45 CEST]: Looks like you've hit [1] because Saucy has Erlang 16B packaged [2] while Debian Testing (from which this version of ejabberd had supposedly been pulled) has the previous Erlang version packaged, R15B [3] and so the bug is not triggered there. Well, [3] is wheezy (which is stable now), not testing. So the issue also affects Debian testing. :) Given that 2.1.12 does fix the issue, I plan to update to 2.1.13 in the next few days in Debian to fix this issue for Debian. For saucy, we would need to pull in the change to a saucy update given that saucy has been released already. [Bug 993378] Re: pastebinit sould be a dependency
The question is, why be fixated on one specific client? There are multiple clients, and most of the time, handing the URL to a pastebin site instead of asking the users to install yet another software is much more straight forward and helpful. In the channels I hang out often enough a pastebin URL is part of the topic to point people at. I'm not really that much convinced that this is the best approach to the issue. Why not tell users instead the URL to the sites and use the web interface which is capable of what they might need directly? Is it because they might be stuck without a graphical environment? Is it that common of an issue to hook into yet another dependency/recommends/suggests loop. Also, you point out, fedora has something installed by default - that doesn't sound like it's done through a dependency, is it? Just some thoughts. :) Rhonda -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993378 Title: pastebinit sould be a dependency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/993378/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 392750] Re: Ubuntu: Make packages.ubuntu.com translatable in Launchpad
Dear Gabor! * Gabor Kelemen kelem...@gnome.hu [2013-05-24 14:38:57 CEST]: The point of this bug is that Ubuntu translators would like to translate the site as a Launchpad project. That's not what the bug description says, but now I noticed that it's in the bug subject/title, my bad. :) Because it has a web based translation tool, which lowers the barrier of entry to many languages, whose translators find it difficult/inconvenient to work with po files in a VCS. Yes, there are such people out there :). Sure. Then though, I am uncertain about how it could work. The translation should definitely get feeded back into git, I do not want to have the translation just pulled from launchpad on the packages site to have it available there, it should be available for all users of the code base. I know little about launchpad translation in that respect, so if someone who has more insight can notify me about how this could get done, I'm fine with it. :) Enjoy, Rhonda -- Fühlst du dich mutlos, fass endlich Mut, los | Fühlst du dich hilflos, geh raus und hilf, los| Wir sind Helden Fühlst du dich machtlos, geh raus und mach, los | 23.55: Alles auf Anfang Fühlst du dich haltlos, such Halt und lass los| -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392750 Title: Ubuntu: Make packages.ubuntu.com translatable in Launchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+bug/392750/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 392750] Re: Ubuntu: Make packages.ubuntu.com translatable in Launchpad
You can contact me any time in case you need any help with getting translations in. The initial report and still current bug description doesn't make any sense to me because the site currently *is* available in different languages and translated already quite a fair amount of it. The packages.ubuntu.com site has some additional strings, I will have to look into how I can make them available for translating, either directly in the master branch (preferably, to avoid merge troubles on string/code changes), or one can fetch the po file from the ubuntu-master branch which hopefully should contain those additional strings. I can look into it in the next weeks whether the additional strings are in there and if not, bring them in - but please don't hold your breath, I'm currently pretty busy with things ... Thanks for the headsup! And ... I noticed that the package descriptions aren't there anymore at all. It seems like there have been some changes to the Packages files in ubuntu about which I didn't get notified, so I am not aware what exactly was changed there and will have to reverse engineer the issue again. This also might take a fair amount of time until I get to it, and I'm sorry for that, but priorities are priorities, and workload is workload, and I have no sponsor for that work. ;) Enjoy! Just for the record, because Henry Lin did contact me via email, the packages site does display correct information here, the Packages file for quantal contains the Recommends from dkms to linux-headers. [Bug 999378] Re: package wesnoth-1.8-core 1:1.8.5-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Actually, the divert handling in 1.10 has to get dropped. I missed that somehow when 1.10 got stable and didn't have 1.8 and 1.10 installed side-by-side. My bad. :/ I will prepare a patch for that and run it through the stable release process. [Bug 999378] Re: package wesnoth-1.8-core 1:1.8.5-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Actually, from looking closer, I've done it (almost) properly in 1.10 and never fixed the code in 1.8. If you install wesnoth-1.8 *before* you install wesnoth-1.10 (which is the usual flow of things, since wesnoth-1.8 is the older stable release ...) it works and the divert will stay with wesnoth-1.8. If you though install wesnoth-1.10 *before* you install wesnoth-1.8 you stumble into the issue. Installation order is important here, so if you want to have both versions around, first deinstall wesnoth-1.10, then install wesnoth-1.8 first and wesnoth-1.10 second. While I don't really understand why one would install wesnoth-1.8 after installing wesnoth-1.10, the fix for wesnoth-1.10 is like mentioned above dropping the whole divert handling, which I'll prepare within the next few days. It will flow into the soonish to be uploaded 1.10.3 version, and I'll extract that part and run it through the stable update process. Enjoy! Also, the 1.8 stable tree is still supported upstream, some people are still playing it, and it is not possible to play multiplayer games with different stable versions, so having only 1.10 in precise would force others to upgrade too, to continue to be able to play with you. Personally, I am fine with either: precise will be a LTS release, and 1.8 will probably be phased out upstream before precise reaches end of life. I'm fine with whatever gets decided here. I am uncertain myself, otherwise I would have done the decision already. :) So long, Rhonda -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982534 Title: Please remove wesnoth-1.8 from precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wesnoth-1.8/+bug/982534/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 694665] Re: Square blocks shown instead of translated strings in some areas (when language is set to marathi)
One thing to fix this is to disable the language from the selection all together. This though might hinder translators in that language and won't improve the situation to get the translation into better shape. Thus I am setting this bugreport to status won't fix and suggested to upstream translation team to at least also add font information into the translation so that people interested in giving it a try will be able to install the corresponding font and work from there. The competion state of the translation though doesn't warrant any dependency on such a font and thus none is included (and won't be, for the forseeable future). As long as not even the basic wesnoth domain is translated completely it doesn't make sense to have this language fully supported. There is talks going on about potentially having a build switch to disable such languages during the build process, but I'm uncertain whether that might happen (and this is nothing that will happen inside Ubuntu or Debian, this has to happen in the Upstream code). Marathi is one of the languages which isn't translated too well at all, you can see the stats of the translation work of wesnoth here: http://www.wesnoth.org/gettext/ Unfortunately it is even unknown to the developers whether the GUI code would be able to cope with a font for that language. The only way to get this bug fixed for me is thus to disable the language from selection, at all. I'm uncertain if that is really something we should do, though. [Bug 850347] Re: Please sync spl 1.0~pre6-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Thanks for the headsup, Adam. Though, the multiarch patch was added a week after I did request the sync, I'll try to incorporate it in Debian, and I wonder why I missed the mail about that upload (the changelog is also misleading, because the multiarch patch isn't a remaining change, it was added explicitly in the latest upload). ... and I have no clue what the comment with respect to reverse-apply is meant to mean. But then, I don't find anything in the diff that would hint in that direction, I'm just trying to get rid of the need of an ubuntu diff so sync works and no merge effort is needed, at all. Re: [Bug 70296] Re: Can't join official multiplayer games
Hi! * Toni Ruottu toni.ruo...@iki.fi [2011-07-23 21:42:33 CEST]: I have not been following the discussion lately. The problem used to repeat every now and then when the game server and the version in Ubuntu went out of sync. This might be solved, or it might require serious pondering to get right. The Games team is looking for sponsors of a server that will be able to solve this issue for wesnoth and other games properly. Unfortunately noone turned up yet that is willing to do so. Without a dedicated server for that task this won't be solveable, sorry. Though, like written, it's not something to worry now with respect to wesnoth, and I plan to offer backports for major upstream versions that would mean not being compatibility for old clients (but even then, upstreams keeps the old stable release running for a while -- it currently still has 1.6 running) Enjoy! Re: [Bug 70296] Re: Can't join official multiplayer games
* Frederic the wise 70...@bugs.launchpad.net [2011-07-23 14:13:15 CEST]: And it is 2011 and this is still broken. Ought I to move to windows to play open source games? I have waited four years. Actually, I can't follow you. There is no supported Ubuntu release that can *not* connect to the official servers. Can you please be more specific on which version of wesnoth you are speaking about? While saying that, 1.6 servers might go away upstream wise during the lifetime of lucid. I am willing to provide backports of the later stable releases if that would be acceptable to solve this bug. Actually that would be the only option to provide that because the official server won't even host 1.8 stable release forever, and this will happen again for the subsequent releases. Other than this, I fear the Ubuntu project/Canonical is not able/willing to afford to provide a server that would host network games. So running a server on your own to host network games for older releases is the only option you've got. [Bug 677870] Re: Beep not working in 10.10
It's not beep that is not working here, it's the general environment that disabled pc speaker support completely - or claims that it should work through the soundcard now. Please bring this up with the sound drivers you are using that they don't offer the pcspeaker through the sound system but on the other hand blacklisting the module. There is nothing that can be done from the beep package's point of view. People decided to disable the pcspeaker, and that is the facility that beep is using, so we are unfortunately at a dead end here. Feel free to use this bugreport for attaching it to the corresponding packages that blacklist the pcspeaker and discuss it with the responsible people there, or bring it up as new bugreport there. Actually I do play fillets with cursor keys all the time, both in fullscreen and also in windowed mode. Do they work in other SDL based applications for you? Have you maybe upgraded to at least lucid and can you still reproduce the issue there? Thanks for any further additional information in advance. Given that Ivo did ask almost a year ago I plan to close this bugreport as invalid if it doesn't receive further hopefully reproducible information. Thanks for playing fillets! [Bug 684393] Re: $PATH discrepency when ~/bin exists
Hi! Actually I fail to see the security impact of this. If a user creates the bin directory themself and put stuff in there themself then it's on their own intention, not? I really fail to see the security part of the issue. Actually it makes sense to have ~/bin first in PATH to be able to override system tools intentionally. I highly doubt that this will be changed on dubious reasoning and actually wonder why it was forwarded to Debian. To be honest, if a malicious person is able to put an ls program into ~/bin of a user they are also able to change their ~/.profile and put ~/bin first in PATH again, so it gets no additional security, at all. * koanhead 674...@bugs.launchpad.net [2010-11-16 03:05:05 CET]: aptitude search wesnoth: Package: wesnoth State: not installed Version: 1:1.8.5-1~lucid1 It doesn't appear from this that wesnoth-1.6 is available in Ubuntu's repositories. Actually it is available in lucid. See rather apt-cache policy wesnoth. You seem to have enabled lucid-backports and pulled in wesnoth from there because the wesnoth package in lucid actually is at version 1:1.6.5-1. See the version overview on packages.ubuntu.com: http://packages.ubuntu.com/wesnoth You will have to downgrade the wesnoth package explicitly to the version from lucid. Given that you used aptitude search I hope you are familiar with the aptitude interface. When you search for wesnoth in there, press v to view all versions. Then press + on the 1.6.5 version explicitly. It might well be that you'll have to then clear up some broken packages through that move, and I hope it won't mark other packages for removal, but that should be possible to work out without too much trouble. Re: [Bug 674783] Re: Misplaced savegame files after update to 1.8
* koanhead 674...@bugs.launchpad.net [2010-11-13 22:17:59 CET]: Thanks for letting me know, I will try installing wesnoth-old and see how that goes; the update seems to have removed the old version. Right. wesnoth-1.8 now comes with an unversioned package that will always pull in the latest stable release. Unfortunately this removes wesnoth version 1.6 because that one didn't had the versioned packages, so if one wants to keep both wesnoth versions around, the wesnoth package itself needs to stick at 1.6 and wesnoth-1.8 has to get pulled in explicitly through the wesnoth-1.8 package. Unfortunately there isn't a more helpful approach to the switch. At least now it's possible to install them side-by-side, which wasn't possible from 1.4 to 1.6 :) Enjoy! [Bug 674783] Re: Misplaced savegame files after update to 1.8
Please be notified that the wesnoth 1.6 branch and the wesnoth 1.8 branch are incompatible with each other. You can't continue games that were started with 1.6 in 1.8 because of deeper changes to balancing and the campaigns themself. That's the reason why I actually started the approach to make it possible to have the different stable wesnoth releases installable side-by-side. See also the explenation in /usr/share/doc/wesnoth-1.8/NEWS.Debian.gz about this. Either install wesnoth (1.6) back and continue your games in there, or start the campaign from new with 1.8 (and use your knowledge about good approaches to the scenarios ;)). Enjoy! Public bug reported: The stable update of wesnoth-1.8 is mostly a bugfix release and thus would be swell to have it available for older releases, too.
