[Bug 394500] Re: [Karmic] processes holding /dev/dsp* or /dev/snd/pcm* cause pulseaudio: card not found - Null Output / Dummy Output

2009-10-24 Thread Khorne
After clean install (I did it yesterday so it's RC with newest updates)
I have no sound at all too. I tried workaround from comment #40 but it
didn't help.

When I was on Karmic but the one updated from Jaunty there was no
problem at all.

Codec: Realtek ALC861
Codec: LSI Si3054

Sorry, now I red this workaround once again and removed sl-modem-daemon
then removed .purple and killed pulseaudio. Now sound works fine so
workaround is ok.

[Bug 364194] [NEW] usplash switching to text mode when laptop plugged into AC adapter

2009-04-20 Thread Khorne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

When my laptop is starting up and it's plugged into AC adapter usplash
disappears in 1/3 of system boot (it's switching to text mode so I can
see loading modules, processes etc. It's always near checking disks).
When laptop is not plugged into AC adapter (is using it's own battery)
it does not happen at all.

- System: Jaunty with all updates
- usplash version: 0.5.31
- laptop: Toshiba Sattellite a105 s4074 with newest phoenix BIOS.

If you need any further details please let me know. As far as I remember it's

[Bug 127520] Re: Gnome-power-manager doesn't see AC power is disconnected

2008-03-07 Thread Khorne
Hardy Alpha 5

Power Manager doesn't show tray icon when AC is disconnected even if
such option is enabled in settings. What's more, even if always show
icon is enabled it does not show if battery is unloading or how much
power is left. Everything is ok when cable is plugged in. Tray shows
that battery is loading and it also shows level of power (in %).

[Bug 127520] Re: Gnome-power-manager doesn't see AC power is disconnected

2008-03-07 Thread Khorne
I've already realised that level of power (in %) freezes when plugging in a
cable. It's not correct like I've previously posted. So, if I want to have
correct values I must unplug and then plug cable.
It may be connected with these two options:
Reduce backlight brightness
Dim display when idle
I'm not 100% sure but I think that when they're unchecked this bug appears.

No that was previous one. Today I've made dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Unfortunately vertical scroll still does not work for me.

I've tried to remove xorg.conf so it was rewritten but it doesn't solve
the problem. Current xorg is oldest one (this one before rewrite).

Yes, You're right, I had not enough space because of other (older)

Temporary but simple workaround. Now I can print and don't have any

2008-01-10 Thread Khorne
The same situation in Hardy Alpha on up-to-date kernel on Toshiba
Satellite A105 S4074. I guess that system does not resume after longer
suspend. If i suspend and resume almost immediately everything is ok.
What's more, after this fast resume my Fn-keys start to work (I've
created another bug report for this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+bug/181660)

Re: [Bug 128320] Re: [gutsy] special keys on laptop don't work on Toshiba Satellite A105

2008-01-09 Thread Khorne

On Śr, 2008-01-09 at 23:33 +, Leann Ogasawara wrote:

For the keys which still do not work for the newer release, please
 provide the information outlined here:
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch

Ok, situation now looks a bit different. Some changes were made by
KeyTouch. I purged it so I could test clean Ubuntu install (now I have
everything up to date with Hardy Release Schedule)

So keys:

## Play/Pause ##
- Should do: Play music in default music player (or open this MP and
then play music)it should also pause music.
- code that is generated: XF86AudioPause

The problem is that it's not generating Play code but only Pause

## Open WWW/Multimedia Player ## - Only LEFT side is OK!
- Left side should do: Open default www browser (ok)
- code that is generated: XF86WWW

- Right side should do: Open default multimedia (video) player (NOT OK -
does nothing)
- code that is generated: does NOT generate any code

## Fn + F1 ##
It locks screen and it works ok only when is manually assigned.
- code that is generated: Super_L

## Fn + F2 ##
- Should do: In Windows it switches between different power management
(presentation, performance, Long Life, etc.)
- code that is generated: does NOT generate any code

maybe it's ok due to Ubuntu philosophy

## Fn + F3 ##
Ok - It suspends laptop

## Fn + F4 ##
It should hibernate system but does nothing
- code that is generated: does NOT generate any code

## Fn + F5 ##
Ok? - It should enable external monitor port and I think it does. The
problem is that it causes a crash (reload) of QT (I have reportet it in
another bug)
- code that is generated: XF86Display

## Fn + F6 ##
Ok - Brightness down - works fine

## Fn + F7 ##
Ok - Brightness up - works fine

## Fn + F8 ##
It should enable/disable wireless card (connection) - not working
- code that is generated: does NOT generate any code

## Fn + F9 ##
It should enable/disable touchpad - not working
- code that is generated: does NOT generate any code

## Fn + F10 ##
Ok - Enables numeric keyboard - works fine

## Fn + Space key ##
Should Zoom Desktop - not working
- code that is generated: does NOT generate any code

##

Ok, I'm going to open new bug because keys (including some I've listed
above) start to work only after resume.

If you need some more info or more detailed please let me know. I'll
surely help of course when I could do that.

Thanks for cooperation ;)
At least, I'm going to sleep,
goodnight :)

I've got the same problem but on Hardy alpha 2 with 2.6.24-3 kernel. As
I noticed my CPU Fan doesn't work anymore on Haardy but works on other
systems.

from log:

What's the most important: My laptop (Toshiba Satellite A105) overheats

[Bug 118745] Re: Font sizes in Gutsy are affected by bad X.org DPI detection

2007-10-20 Thread Khorne
Well, today I've made a clean install of 7.10. Even on Live CD install
,window title bar fonts were extremely huge. After install I could see
the same huge font on login screen and, like on Live CD, on tittle bars.
Font on tittle bars has changed after switching to non-default metacity
theme but remained the same (huge) on login screen.

I didn't have this problem when I was working on Feisty and even when I
updated from Feisty to Gutsy by updating repositories.

2007-10-07 Thread Khorne
Same problem with Gutsy working on my Toshiba Satellite A105 - S4074.
kernel: 2.6.22-13-generic

As far as I remember most of keys were working on 7.04 and after update
to 7.10 but stopped to work after next updates of 7.10. To make some of
keys working on 7.04 (especially multimedia keys such as play/pause,
stop, forward, backward or open browser, brightness up,
brightness down and switch video output) I had to update my Phoenix
BIOS. Unfortunately the rest of keys wasn't working even then.

Keys that were working could have been configured with KeyTouch. Now it
doesn't solve the problem too.

I think that is not a duplicate of bug #129029. I occurred the same
problem. When i log into the gnome there is no gnome splash a there is
no login sound. When I log off the gnome there is no sound too. I
investigated that it may be connected with at-spi, becouse when I get
message that no supporting technologies are used, check if you have
at-spi installed (translated form polish so I don't know if it sounds
the same, but sense is not missed) then i can hear sound when logging
into gnome.

I have a question for afonic: Do you use Compiz Fusion? (especially from
Trevino repository - not officially supported)

I asked about C-F becouse I thought that the problem is connected with

random action and I can't find what causes it. I also use compiz-fusion
from Trevino repo.

I had to change Polish repo to generic. Now update is available and new
package, including flashplugin-nonfree, works fine.

Re: [Bug 93859] Re: [Feisty] Very low volume on Toshiba satellite a100-155

Dnia 10-04-2007, wto o godzinie 13:13 +, tomcat napisał(a):
Solved(?) this problem on another Toshiba Staellite A100-SK4 (PSAA8C-SK400E)
by following most of the directions here:

 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto

However, contrary to that document, this is the entry that I appended to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base to get the sound to work properly:

 options snd-hda-intel model=auto

The sound now seems to be working. At least it has over the past
 two reboots.

It works on Toshiba Satellite A105-S4074. There is no even need to
perform steps described in howto. This option (options snd-hda-intel
model=auto) works really fine.
