I can confirm what Cokelly says about Intrepid beta. I filed a bug myself, and found other reports of this as well. [Bug 287900] [NEW] Intel video driver doesn't recognize a projector on plug-in, must log out and in
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Hello! I've been trying to use some projectors with my laptop, and with Hardy, it was really easy. I just had to plug in the VGA cable, press the Fn+F8 key (the one that switches CRT/LCD) and that was it. The resolution stayed at 1280x800 in my laptop, and it was projected fine (I think with a 1024x768 resolution). Now, I've installed Intrepid beta, and if I connect the cable to the same projector, the system doesn't recognize it. Pressing Fn+F8 does nothing, and I have to log out and back in. Then, the laptop screen is at 1024x768 and also projected. This is very annoying, since it resizes everything and I have to arrange my panels all over again. Then, when I disconnect the projector, I have to log out again so that the screen goes back to 1280x800. Is there some way to correct this, or make it behave like it did in 8.04? [Bug 286038] [NEW] Several games don't display correctly with compiz enabled, didn't happen in 8.04
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz Hello! I've noticed that several games don't display correctly with compiz enabled, something that didn't happen to me in Ubuntu 8.04. I'm including some screenshots of what I'm talking about. The particular game in the screenshots, Irrlamb, never had any problems in Ubuntu 8.04 with compiz enabled (just some tearing when moving the window, but that was it). Now, in some games (like OpenArena, Tremulous, etc) I can't even read the menu items, so even quiting the game gets really really difficult, I have to guess the menu item that matches with quit or exit. [Bug 209634] Re: firefox + flash video: crash playing second movie
Hi! I've had the same problem for some time now, and it is indeed annoying. I've used a standalone flash player 9, both for linux and for windows, the last one using wine. The curious thing is that the linux version crashes, while the windows version, running under linux, but with wine, doesn't crash! I don't know much about getting these information stacks or anything, but if I can help, please let me know how. It would be really good if we could see a solution different from using gnash. Thanks!
