Does anyone know something more about this problem? I can see that there
are several reports towards this issue, but no solutions.

Thanks!

[Bug 234915] Re: OpenGL rendered transitions extension crashes Impress

2008-10-23 Thread Luis Jorge
I can confirm what Cokelly says about Intrepid beta. I filed a bug
myself, and found other reports of this as well. I tried installing the
first version of the package openoffice.org-ogltrans from Hardy, and
Impress doesn't crash, but doesn't display the transitions either. I'm
using a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics
Controller. I also run Compiz, glxgears and opengl screensavers
correctly. I've tried disabling Compiz when using impress and these
transitions, but the result is the same. Also, the effects worked
perfectly fine under Hardy.

[Bug 287900] [NEW] Intel video driver doesn't recognize a projector on plug-in, must log out and in

2008-10-22 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hello! I've been trying to use some projectors with my laptop, and with Hardy,
it was really easy. I just had to plug in the VGA cable, press the Fn+F8 key
(the one that switches CRT/LCD) and that was it. The resolution stayed at
1280x800 in my laptop, and it was projected fine (I think with a 1024x768
resolution).
Now, I've installed Intrepid beta, and if I connect the cable to the same
projector, the system doesn't recognize it. Pressing Fn+F8 does nothing, and I
have to log out and back in. Then, the laptop screen is at 1024x768 and also
projected. This is very annoying, since it resizes everything and I have to
arrange my panels all over again. Then, when I disconnect the projector, I have
to log out again so that the screen goes back to 1280x800.
Is there some way to correct this, or make it behave like it did in 8.04?
Using a Dell Inspiron 1525.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 287923] [NEW] OpenOffice ogltrans doesn't display opengl transitions

2008-10-22 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-ogltrans

Hi! I just realized that the OpenGL slide transitions for OpenOffice.org
Impress don't work in Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 beta. The animations don't
play, not in previews or the actual slide show. This didn't happen in
Ubuntu 8.04, with the same hardware (using a Dell Inspiron 1525). Tried
disabling Compiz, but the result is the same. I've also tried re-
installing the package, and still the same.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 286038] [NEW] Several games don't display correctly with compiz enabled, didn't happen in 8.04

2008-10-19 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Hello! I've noticed that several games don't display correctly with compiz
enabled, something that didn't happen to me in Ubuntu 8.04. I'm including some
screenshots of what I'm talking about. The particular game in the screenshots,
Irrlamb, never had any problems in Ubuntu 8.04 with compiz enabled (just some
tearing when moving the window, but that was it).
Now, in some games (like OpenArena, Tremulous, etc) I can't even read the menu
items, so even quiting the game gets really really difficult, I have to guess
the menu item that matches with quit or exit.
Is there any way to fix this? I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid beta, on a Dell
Inspiron 1525. I'm also attaching my compiz settings file, in case it's useful.

Thanks in advance!

Tremulous and several other games don't display text and menu graphics
correctly. Usage of this games is impossible, due to unreadable menu items.

[Bug 284800] [NEW] Recording doesn't work in Ubuntu 8.10

2008-10-17 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Recording doesn't work in any application of Ubuntu 8.10 beta. Using the Sound
Recorder from Applications--Sound Video, isn't possible. I'm using the
microphone embedded in my laptop to test this, and it is properly recognized,
as I can see the volume being modified if I speak or tap near the microphone
using the PulseAudio Volume Meter (Capture) from the applications menu. If I
try to record anything using the Sound Recorder, it doesn't record anything,
and it says 52 minutes of recording after REALLY recording for 10 seconds.
Also, the file generated of this recording doesn't have anything recorded. I
can't use Ekiga either, because it just won't record anything from the
microphone.

[Bug 282029] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 freezes at boot

2008-10-16 Thread Luis Jorge
** Summary changed:

- ubuntu freezes when disk check is forced at boot
+ Ubuntu 8.10 freezes at boot

** Description changed:

- After today's updates in the morning, and after rebooting the system, the
ubuntu logo and bar appeared as with any other boot, but then everything froze
with some colored horizontal stripes. Then, I tried it again, but pressed
Ctrl+Alt+F1 to see the command line, and I realized the system froze when a
disk check was being forced. I don't know how to reproduce this, since I don't
know how to schedule a disk check. I don't know which package could be
affected, but I do remember some xserver and xorg updates involved.
- I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 beta 32-bit, in a Dell Inspiron 1525. I think
it might be related to the orange text that used to appear in Hardy when the
disk was checked at boot, but I'm not sure. When the freeze occurs, there's no
HD activity (or any other activity), so it seems it's the whole system, and not
just the gui.
+ After last week's updates, there are random freezes at boot, involving
horizontal color stripes when the ubuntu logo and load bar appear. Probably
related to the checking battery state step of the boot, since it happens at
the beginning. After this, a hard reset must be done so that ubuntu boots
properly.
+ I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 beta 32-bit, in a Dell Inspiron 1525. When the
freeze occurs, there's no HD activity (or any other activity), so it seems it's

[Bug 282376] [NEW] compiz window previews not displaying properly

2008-10-12 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz-extra

When enabled, the shadow of the window previews in the panel's window list
doesn't display correctly. Sometimes it does, but it shows inconsistent
behavior. When this error happens, the shadows are completely transparent, with
drawing errors in each edge (I don't know how to describe them, I'm including a

ubuntu logo and bar appeared as with any other boot, but then everything froze
with some colored horizontal stripes.
I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 beta 32-bit, in a Dell Inspiron 1525. I think it
might be related to the orange text that used to appear in Hardy when the disk
was checked at boot, but I'm not sure. When the freeze occurs, there's no HD
activity (or any other activity), so it seems it's the whole system, and not
just the gui.

Thanks in advance!

Luis Jorge.

[Bug 280953] [NEW] No system sounds in Intrepid beta

2008-10-09 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Hello! I'm testing Ubuntu 8.10 beta, and I've been trying to configure
the system sounds. Sound everywhere else is fine, but the system sounds
don't play. The only one that works is the login music.

[Bug 221595] Re: keyboard shortcuts don't match with functions in Impress

2008-07-06 Thread Luis Jorge
Hello! Thanks, Kent! That solved the problem completely. I still don't
know why those settings were configured in the first place, but at least
they're gone.

Thanks!

[Bug 221595] Re: keyboard shortcuts don't match with functions in Impress

2008-05-15 Thread Luis Jorge
Hello! I'm very sorry for taking so long to respond. As you suggested, I
renamed the ~/.openoffice.org2 directory, but the shortcuts don't work fine
yet. It's very strange, because I've only seen this behavior in Impress, not in
Writer, or Calc.
Is there a file that stores all the key bindings for openoffice? Or a way to
configure them?

Thanks in advance, and sorry again for taking so long.

Luis Jorge

[Bug 230948] [NEW] System freeze when pressing ESC on screensaver

2008-05-15 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xscreensaver

If the system is locked with CTRL+ALT+L, the screensaver appears, and the
screen locks. If I stop the screensaver by moving the mouse, it's fine. But if
I press ESC at any moment, the system freezes, with no response to CTRL+ALT+DEL
or CTRL+ALT+F1, so a hard reboot is required.
I have reproduced this with several screensavers.
Using Ubuntu 8.04.

[Bug 221595] Re: keyboard shortcuts don't match with functions in Impress

2008-04-25 Thread Luis Jorge
Hi! Well, I changed it under the Language options in Impress. There's an
option to change the locale, but it seems it didn't change it... Also,
if it is configured to en_US, the keyboard shortcuts that Impress reacts
to are consistent with a spanish locale, not english. Is there another
way to change the locale settings?

Thanks!

[Bug 221595] [NEW] keyboard shortcuts don't match with functions in Impress

2008-04-24 Thread Luis Jorge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hello! I just noticed that, in Impress, the shortcuts don't match with the ones
from the menus. For example, in the menu says Ctrl+S to save, but if I press
that, it doesn't work. I have to press Ctrl+G to save, which would be in
spanish, but my localization is set to English UK. I haven't noticed this
behaviour in any other OpenOffice.org application.
I'm using OOo 2.4.0 in Ubuntu Hardy beta.

If there is more information you need, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Luis Jorge.

[Bug 209634] Re: firefox + flash video: crash playing second movie

2008-04-12 Thread Luis Jorge
Hi! I've had the same problem for some time now, and it is indeed
annoying. I've used a standalone flash player 9, both for linux and for
windows, the last one using wine. The curious thing is that the linux
version crashes, while the windows version, running under linux, but
with wine, doesn't crash! I don't know much about getting these
information stacks or anything, but if I can help, please let me know
how. It would be really good if we could see a solution different from
using gnash.

Thanks!

Luis Jorge.
