[Bug 1850103] Re: gnome-tweak-tool window keeps flickering on cursor hovering
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1847524 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1847524 I tried the workaround, and that did help, but only once. After that, the flickering returned even after uninstalling and reinstalling the Tweaks app. Rebooting after uninstalling and before reinstalling also did not help. Workaround: I discovered that widening the app window by dragging on the right side stopped the Flickering. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1850103 Title: gnome-tweak-tool window keeps flickering on cursor hovering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-tweaks/+bug/1850103/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager After a resume from suspend, I am no longer able to connect to a wireless network. Network Manager reports No network devices available. 'modprobe ath5k' reports no errors but device is not activated. Killing NetworkManager and restarting network also does nothing. Adding SUSPEND_MODULES=ath5k and/or SUSPEND_MODULES=forcedeth to /etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module does nothing. I am using x86 karmic on a EeePC 900HA. Attached please find the output of various command pre-suspend and post- resume. The incorrect wording is located at line 300 in the file /usr/share /netbook-launcher. wireless connections
How is the wireless connection panel applet supposed to work. I'm able to add a wireless network, but I don't see any way to connect. Also, If I edit the wireless connection settings, i notice that the OK button is greyed out, so my settings can't be changed once they're created. Perhaps Ubuntu-umpc is not really detecting my wireless card even though it's turned on and its little LED is lit up. thanks S -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile
issue with Eee PC
I just tried the latest ubuntu-umpc image on my Eee PC. This time my wireless card was recogized, which is great. But I was unable to connect, possible because I couldn't see all of the dialog box wherein I enter my connection details. Accordingly, when I hit Tab - Enter, I may have been cancelling rather than hitting OK. The reason I couldn't see all of the dialog box may be that the Eee PC has a screen res of 800x480, so the dialog was too tall. I try holding the Alt key while dragging the window, and that does move the window... but the title bar will not go above the top of the screen. How can I get windows to be able to be moved above the top of the screen? thanks Stewart -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile

I didn't get anywhere with the info, though. My dpi is 96, which is normal. Further information - I was using an Intrepid image. I've since downloaded and booted the 20081002 Intrepid image and now the touchpad works! So that's a step forward. But I'm still unable to adjust default font size. I tried editing xorg.conf and adding some information about the fonts path but didn't get anywhere. [part of my problem is that I don't have wired internet at home and the Eee PC's WLAN card is not recognized so all my research has to go through my phone, which is painful and slow]. I'm thinking that the Eee PC is a little off-target for this distro and I'm going to revert to running the version of Ubuntu formerly known as Ubuntu Remix and now known as Ubuntu Eee. See http://ubuntu-eee.com/.It's doing everything I need it to do, right out of the box, and all the Eee PC hardware is working with it. It also looks nice and can be easily customized through Synaptic. Only downside is the 1 min. boot-up time compared to 15 seconds for the native Xandros Linux. thanks Stewart -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile
solution for Grub error 5 when booting off a USB stick
At one point I knew this, but somehow overlooked it recently. Say you are copying a ubuntu-mid.img file to a USB stick, say with this command in linux or Mac OS X: dd if=ubuntu-mid.img of=/dev/disk2 bs=1024 you firstly need to ensure that your USB stick is formatted with FAT16 file system. If you're doing this in Windows, make sure you don't select FAT32 or your stick probably won't boot. Grub will be unable to read the FAT table on the USB stick and will thus give you the 'error 5' which means there's a problem with the partition table. cheers S -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile
Ubuntu-mid on Asus Eee PC 701
Just for a lark I tried this distro on my original Eee PC. I used dd to push the image over to a 1 GB USB key, and booted off it. When the desktop came up I noticed a few things... - the fonts were VERY large. I was unable to figure out how to reduce the size of the default font - the touchpad is not recognized, but a USB mouse is At this point the distro is not very suited to the Eee PC. (Not that it was intended to be, either). cheers S -- Ubuntu-mobile mailing list Ubuntu-mobile@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mobile
[Bug 118670] Re: [apport] wifi-radar crashed with AttributeError in module()
.deb files are in /var/cache/apt/archives then do: sudo dpkg -i wifi-radar_1.9.7-0ubuntu4_all.deb mine just reinstalled. [Bug 218434] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in location_manager_hal_init()
@nyamap, thanks for your tip which has allowed me (with a mod) to log in to Gnome desktop on EeePC. You have two errors in your step 3 (you must use hal-set-property, not hal-set-priority; also, you need to use the UUID string, not the info.udi string), so here are the corrected steps to follow: 1. Login with Ctrl-Alt-F2 or Xterm session. 2. run 'hal-device' to find device which contains root file system. (device means not media but controller device) on my EeePC, it is device 2. Look for the device that has volume.mount_point = '/'. Make a note of the udi string. 3. mark that device to unremovable using 'hal-set-property --udi /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_6662900c --key storage.removable --bool false' Your own device will have a different string beginning with volume_uuid_ Run this in the shell and if it works, put in rc.local, then restart gdm with 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart' -- gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in location_manager_hal_init() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218434 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
