[Bug 1757180] Re: nvidia-prime can't switch off the discrete GPU

2018-04-09 Thread YAFU
Well, I have been able to solve the problem and I am able to use nvidia driver
again. The problem is that nvidia-prime blacklist nvidia driver. The file is
"/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nvidia.conf" with content:
# Do not modify
# This file was generated by nvidia-prime
blacklist nvidia
blacklist nvidia-drm
blacklist nvidia-modeset
alias nvidia off
alias nvidia-drm off
alias nvidia-modeset off

File was never re-established, even when uninstalling/purging nvidia-
prime package. I think that this file should be re-established/deleted
when you uninstall nvidia-prime.

Thanks Alberto and other maintainers for your hard work maintaining
nvidia packages (

[Bug 1757180] Re: nvidia-prime can't switch off the discrete GPU

2018-04-08 Thread YAFU
Hi.
I do not know if I am currently being affected by the same Bug. My system is:
intel i7 3770 (HD4000 igpu)
nvidia GTX 960

I have Kubuntu 18.04 updated to date. I was using 390.48 nvidia proprietary
driver correctly. I decided to try nvidia-prime in Kubuntu 18.04, so from the
BIOS I enabled iGPU as the primary display. I opened nvidia-settings GUI and
from Prime options I chose Intel. After entering user password, it took about a
minute for the message to appear that the change had been successful. So I
rebooted the system and it worked correctly, the system was using intel iGPU.
But then when trying to return to nvidia something went wrong. After rebooting
the system, PRIME options of nvidia-settings GUI disappeared. nvidia-settings
GUI is only shown in the minimal version, only items from Application Profiles
and nvidia-settings Configuration is displayed.
If I select my nvidia as a Primary Display from BIOS, the system enters in
graphic mode but it apparently is not using nvidia driver, system and graphics
work very slow and take time to refresh. nvidia-settings GUI just keeps showing
minimal interface with almost no options. All this despite the fact that from
the terminal, PRIME is informed that nvidia is selected:
$ sudo prime-select query
nvidia

I have tried to purge all nvidia package and reinstalling the driver from
driver manager, but everything remains the same. Since troubleshooting nvidia
problems is more difficult with new packaging system:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1011589/what-has-changed-in-nvidia-proprietary-driver-packaging-in-18-04-bionic

I do not know if I did it right. These are the packages that I currently have
installed:
http://pasteall.org/915940

Just a question to see if I can reverse PRIME changes. Which
configuration file is modified when you select nvidia or intel from
PRIME options in nvidia-setings GUI (after entering user key)?

2018-04-08 Thread YAFU
This problem I was having after waking up from suspend to RAM. Every time I
wake up the machine from sleeping to RAM I get the following message:
"Gestor de ventanas KWin
Desktop effects were restarted due to a graphics reset"

Related but in 16.04
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kwin/+bug/1578083

Apparently currently blinks/flickers on decorator windows are gone, but
I still get that message every time I wake up from suspend to RAM.

[Bug 1762163] [NEW] [Kubuntu 18.04]Device notifier pretends it cannot mount usb device while actually mounting it

2018-04-08 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

There is a Fix proposed from comment 36

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370975

I have this problem when trying to mount any removable device or internal disk
partition, either from Dolphin or from removable device manager in panel. It
always shows an error message when you try to mount the device first time, the
device is not opened in Dolphin but it is mounted correctly. Then at the second
attempt it does not show error message and device is opened in Dolphin.
The messages that I get in Spanish:
>From Dolphin:
"Ocurrió un error al acceder a «Carpeta personal», el sistema respondió: El
dispositivo ya está montado: Device /dev/sdb3 is already mounted at
`/media/yafu/PART 1'."

>From removable device manager in panel a window message titled "Error
Cliente KIO ?" and "Formato de URL erroneo" message.

By the way, in a recent Dolphin update, when you mount partitions from
the small folder/home icon to the left of the Dolphin address bar
(that icon only appears if you have Panels > Places disabled), every
time you Mount a device from there that menu is filled enormously with
"Umount <>" items. Really annoying.

===
Related messages in English:
"Error KIO Client" with the text "malformed URL"

"An error occurred while accessing 'Home', the system responded: The
device is already mounted: Device /dev/sdl1 is already mounted at
'/media/myuser/disk title'.

Hello.
Approximately a week ago, an update introduced this problem (I'm not sure if
KWin or NVIDIA proprietary driver update).
With Brisa window decorator, the title bar on top for some windows starts
blinking annoyingly, switching between full transparency and opacity. When it
is full transparent, it shows desktop Wallpaper from behind. If I disable
composition with Shift + Alt + F12, the blink disappears. Anyway with the
composition disabled other problems appear, as some windows do not appear in
task manager in panel, or plasmoid activity pager does not change between
activities.
Apparently the problem does not happen with other window decorators downloaded
from the internet, anyway it does not seem like a good option because they are
not at all configurable as is Brisa window decorator.

I have Kubuntu 18.04 currently updated. The updates that I think could be
responsible for the problem, maybe are:

The only thing that has worked for me and solves the problem (I use it since

The question is, would it be possible for Kubuntu or nvidia maintainers

[Bug 1632019] [NEW] [*buntu 16.04 / PRIME] nvidia-smi not work if iGPU as the primary display

2016-10-10 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

Related links:

https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/970144/linux/intel-for-display-

So the problem is that you can not monitor the temperature with nvidia-
smi and also can't set the fan speed if iGPU is as a primary display
selected from Prime profiles in Nvidia-Settings.

In the second link it is mentioned a workaround that might give a clue
about the cause of the problem. That is, I think 'nvidia-smi " should
work by default without running this workaround as root.

** Description changed:

Well, this is really weird problem.
I had installed Kubuntu 16.04 from daily build about two weeks ago, using
only Intel VGA iGPU. Then day 2016-01-05 I installed an NVIDIA GT 430 card and
proprietary nvidia drivers "nvidia-352-updates" from the repositories (using
package manager). The nvidia driver and the system worked well.
The day 2016-01-09 while I was using the system, the screen started to do
some strange things and the system crashed/locked. By forcing a reboot I never
was able to start Kubunu with nvidia proprietary drivers. The screen goes black
with prompt flashing in the upper left corner, and I can not even enter a TTY
teminal using nvidia driver.
So what I do is to enter recovery mode and from command line I uninstall
nvidia driver. Restarting with "nouveau" the system also does not start the X
display, I get black screen (without the prompt flashing), but with "nouveau" I
can enter to a TTY terminal and with "startx" I can enter to the system in
graphic mode . Now with "nouveau" and starting with "startx" everything seems
to work fine, but I always get the black screen when startup the system, so I
always should start graphics mode wuth "startx".
In short, from the day 2016-01-09 using "nvidia" proprietary driver I can
never start Kubuntu in graphic mode and I can not even enter yo a TTY teminal.
With "nouveau" I also get a black screen when start the system, but at least I
can enter a TTY and start graphical mode with "startx".
- I am reporting for "nvidia-352-updates", but the problem still occurs with
nvidia 304, 340, 361 from PPP. I also Try Kernel 4.3.0-2, 4.3.0-5, 4.4.0
mainline.

[Bug 1444226] [NEW] [Kubuntu 15.04 beta] can't connect to wifi with Ralink RT2561/RT61 and NetworkManager

2015-04-14 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

Hello.
I have a Ralink with RT2561/RT61 chip:
$ lspci | grep -i network
05:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI

In Kubuntu 15.04 my connection is very unstable using NetworkManager.
Most of the time the connection is not established. And very few times
the connection is established but after a few seconds the connection
drops. But with Wicd my connection is stable. I installed Wicd from
Kubuntu 14.04 using chroot. Unfortunately in this new Kubuntu version
if you try to uninstall network-manager then plasma-desktop is
requested to be uninstalled (apparently because of plasma-nm). So I do
the following to use Wicd:

1- Start the system and try not use Network Manager
2- kill network manager
$ sudo pkill -9 NetworkManager
3- Start wicd from menu internet

And I can connect to WiFi and the connection is stable.

By the way, it's a bad thing that you can not uninstall network-manager
to use another manager in Kubuntu. So, at least there should be an
option from the systemsettings to can choose the default network
manager.

[Bug 1433770] Re: KNemo crashed with SIGSEGV

2015-04-14 Thread YAFU
I have a similar problem in Kubuntu 15.04 64bits. I installed KNemo but can not
run from the menu, with the following message (translated from Spanish):
KDEinit was unable to launch /usr/bin/knemo
Also if I run it from the terminal:
$ knemo
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

In previous versions of Kubuntu, you could find an entry in
Systemsettings to configure KNemo. Apparently, this entry does not exist
in Kubuntu Vivid Vervet.

Do you need any other information?

[Bug 1442908] Re: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-13

2015-04-14 Thread YAFU
Hello. I have a Ralink with RT2561/RT61 chip. In Kubuntu 15.04 my
connection is very unstable using NetworkManager, but with Wicd my
connection is stable. Could you try Wicd? The problem is that in Kubuntu
15.04 is not possible uninstall network-manager because it also
uninstalled plasma-desktop. To test you should do:

$ sudo apt-get install wicd wicd-gtk
During installation it will ask you to add your user to the group netdev.
$ sudo pkill -9 NetworkManager

Start wicd from menu internet. If it does not start, you do:
$ sudo rm /var/run/wicd/wicd.pid
and try again.

You note that Wicd does not automatically detect the encryption mode for your
network. You must choose the password type from propierties. Probabily if you
use WEP you should choose Wep (Passphrase), or if it Wpa you choose WPA 1/2
(Hex [0-9/A-F]).
Also note that wicd connects to internet but will not tell you that you're
connected, you try from the browser to know you are connected.

[Bug 1443685] [NEW] [Kubuntu 15.04 beta] It is not possible disable KWalletManager

2015-04-13 Thread YAFU

I was able to disable KWallet from KDE systemsettings in previous
versions of Kubuntu, but now I can't find this entry. When launch
KWallet (kwalletmanager) as superuser or normal user, I can disable it
from KWallet settings. But KWallet gets worse, it continues requesting
to be used for example in wifi connection, and if I try to open it
again, KWallet freezes (I need kill the app).

The partition in question is sda2.

sda2 previously existed and had data on it. I had selected Kubuntu manual
disk installation as usual, and I chose formatted sda2 as ext4 and mount as
/. When it began installing it remained static at 33% without progress. Then
I tried from KDE partitionmanager from the LiveDVD and trying to delete and
format sda2 as ext4 and it also failed with the following message:

[Bug 1436891] Re: Cannot connect to any WiFi access point which runs wireless-N

2015-04-12 Thread YAFU
Could the problem be related to kwalletmanager and password management
system? When I try to connect to wifi then KWallet insists on being
used. I select Cancel and the wifi network is not connected. I've
noticed that KWallet takes the control of the system. In previous
versions of Kubuntu, I could disable KWallet from systemsettings, but
now I can't find this entry. After launching KWallet from the menu and
from KWallet settings, I can disable it. But KWallet gets worse, it
continues requesting to be used, and if I try to open it from the menu,
KWallet freezes. In the end I decided to use it and set a password. The
wifi connection was established but the connection falls at few seconds.
From LiveDVD I can not connect to wifi too, but KWallet is not open
asking to be used in LiveDVD, but I do not know, maybe kwallet is
intervening in the background too.

I am using the Blender 3D 2.71 binary downloaded from the official Blender
site. It contain precompiled CUDA Kernel (cuda toolkit is not required to be
installed). If I run Blender then CUDA is not available under File User

(kdesudo ./blender), then CUDA is available.

[Bug 1375333] Re: [wishlist] Blender 3D needs more attention from Ubuntu

2014-09-30 Thread YAFU
I do not know, I'm not a Debian user (I can only do tests in Kubuntu and
Ubuntu). I could not follow any feedback if Debian maintainers ask me
something. Also the last point I mention before seems to be a problem
only in Unity.

By the way, instead of using Blender Debian packages, would not it be
possible to package binaries from official Blender releases? People
report that these builds work better, and they include precompiled CUDA
kernel.

[Bug 1375333] [NEW] [wishlist] Blender 3D needs more attention from Ubuntu

2014-09-29 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

Blender 3D is an OpenSource jewel, this is one of the best examples of how an
OpenSource project can be well led and grow daily in their development. Blender
3D is a complex software, competing on a par with other great softwares of big
companies.
I can mention you some of the problems discussed in www.blenderartists.org
about Blender and Ubuntu:

* Blender 3D is outdated in Ubuntu: The development of Blender 3D is
very fast incorporating important new features in each release. To date,
the stable version of Blender is 2.71, and is close to release the 2.72.
In Trusty Blender 2.69 is currently in the repositories. Even in the
unreleased Ubuntu Utopic the version is 2.70.

* Blender 3D Ubuntu packages do not include the precompiled CUDA Kernel.
The GPU acceleration on nVidia cards is very important to the Cycles
engine. The official Blender 3D binaries include precompiled CUDA
Kernel. But in Ubuntu to compile the kernel you need to install CUDA
Toolkit, this means installing a lot of packages for developers that you
will never use. According to the next thread:

https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/544289/can-applications-to-use-
cuda-technology-just-installing-nvidia-driver-on-linux-/

You should need to install only the runtime librerieas, but apparently
that does not work in Ubuntu. Perhaps this should be revised in Ubuntu
and it would be good to have a metapackage to install corresponding
CUDA runtime libraries for Blender, instead to need to install all CUDA
Toolkit for developers.

* Some Blender HotKeys malfunctions are reported and apparently only
occur in Ubuntu / Unity:

http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?316258-double-press-key-
on-Linux

Please, users of the best Linux distribution and the best 3D software will be
grateful if you pay attention to these points.
Thank you.

[Bug 1166401] Re: [Kubuntu 13.04 beta 2]Monitor goes into PowerSaving mode during installation

2013-07-02 Thread YAFU
I doubt very much that a modern monitor can be destroyed by staying on. Perhaps
you drain your battery if it is a portable and you forgot that you were
installing a system, but nothing more than that. It is assumed that the user
who is installing a system, be alert of what is happening.
In any case a solution could be to extend the time before the monitor enters in
power save mode.

Hello croaker.
Could you give details of your machine?
I've seen that in Ubuntu 13.04 there are many problems with notebooks with
Intel CPU and nVidia graphics card. I suspect that this problem also may be
related to desktop computers that have Intel processor with iGPU and of
multi-GPU or multi-monitor features. My computer is an Intel i7-3770 on an
Asus P8Z77-V LX.

[Bug 1182211] [NEW] Nvidia module fails to load on Kubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail

2013-05-20 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

I tried to install the nvidia drivers from additional drivers (jockey-kde) or
manually, and the nvidia drivres fail to load. The system always loads the
Nouveau driver. Also, the nvidia-settings icon does not appear in the launcher
menu. If I run nvidia-settings manually, I get this message:
You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X
configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X
server.

If manually install the driver I get this in the terminal:

I've tried with the versions 304, 313 and 319 from the Xorg Edgers PPA
repository. I've tried with Ubuntu 13.04 kernels, and the mainline 3.9.
I get the same problem with all combinations.

Originally I had installed the system with my monitor connected to my
intel iGPU using the intel drivers. Now I have the monitor connected to
the Nvidia card, and as I said before with nouveau works well.

[Bug 1166401] [NEW] [Kubuntu 13.04 beta 2]Monitor goes into PowerSaving mode during installation

2013-04-08 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

I've installed Kubuntu 13.04 beta 2 (64 bits). Approximately 7 or 10 minutes
during installation my monitor enters into power saving mode.
I thought something had gone wrong with the installation and i was about to
restart the computer.

The monitor should not go into power saving mode during installation,
because it can confuse the users.

[Bug 831768] Re: aptitude cannot handle conflicts with multiarch enabled

2012-10-02 Thread YAFU
I think (maybe) the problem is finally fixed with v0.6.8.1
As you know, ppa-purge used aptitude. I have updated the system with the
Xorg Edgers PPA repository. I installed aptitude v0.6.8.1 in Kubuntu 12.04
Precise. Then ppa-purge has been able to resolve dependencies. It uninstalled
google earth and its :i386 dependencies but I have yet some i386 packages
installed and the system is not broken.
To install aptitude v0.6.8.1 on Precise, you go to Ubuntu Packages:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/
And search and download the following packages for Quantal (not for Precise):

apt
libapt-pkg
libboost-iostreams
libept

Then download from the link posted by Marcin Juszkiewicz (
http://tygrysek.juszkiewicz.com.pl/~hrw/ubuntu ) the next packages:

aptitude-common
aptitude

Save all packages in the same folder. Open the terminal in that folder
and install with:

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Thanks to the developers and creators of the patch.

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-09-30 Thread YAFU
I installed the nvidia proprietary drivers and after three days no freezing
occurred in Kubuntu. I uninstalled the proprietary drivers and freezes are
back. Clearly, my problem is related to the nouveau drivers.
In a few posts above I put what I get after freezing in kern.log file.

[Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-09-25 Thread YAFU
This is disconcerting. In the bug report some people have nVidia cards - ATI
and Intel, and all with the same problem. A lot of people affected and
apparently Ubuntu responsible have no idea what could be the problem. I'm
using Kubuntu 12.04 64bits and I have a nvidia card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430]
(rev a1)

and I can not detect what is causing the freeze. The final lines of
kern.log I get are related always with dri and nouveau after the
freeze:

[Bug 721471] Re: evdev is not compatible to QT-applications when using tablets

2012-09-16 Thread YAFU
@Alexei, This bug is not related to that bug.
The problem is related with this bug in Qt:
https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-25329

There is a simple workaroun that solves the problem by modifying the
src/gui/kernel/qapplication_x11.cpp file in
qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.8.1.tar.gz source. I think the package in
Kubuntu is libqtcore4 (qt4-x11):
http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=139t=98347
In the Krita forum, in page 1 and 2 they discuss the workaround.
This bug causes that if you use a non-Wacom graphics tablet, the stylus
pressure sensitivity not working in Qt programs (Krita, pencil).
Would be nice if could be include that workaroun in Kubuntu 12.10 - Quantal

[Bug 993868] Re: udev creates dvb directory with wrong permissions

2012-08-14 Thread YAFU
Sorry. I'm seeing that the permissions are apparently right using the Kernel
3.2.0-29 (Kubuntu 12.04 64bits). Likewise, no program can have access to my USB
tuner (MyGica S870 using dvb_usb_dib0700 module driver). When I try to watch
TV VLC freezes and I have to kill the process. MPlayer, Kaffeine and Totem
(GNOME dvb-daemon) not working too.
Kaffeine message:
kaffeine(6273) DvbLinuxDevice::tune: ioctl FE_SET_FRONTEND failed for frontend

Using the PPA mainline kernels VLC works (the other programs still can
not access the device)

[Bug 994355] Re: Mouse does not work on wakeup from sleep

2012-05-28 Thread YAFU
I have the same problem with a Genius NetScroll 200 Laser USB mouse.
The mouse does not use the kernel driver usbmouse.ko (it is never loaded)
The problem occurs when PC resume from sleep to RAM in 95% of the time.
Before sleep to RAM, these are the outputs of lsub, xinput and dmesg:
$lsusb
Bus 003 Device 012: ID 0458:003a KYE Systems Corp. (Mouse Systems) NetScroll+
Mini Traveler / Genius NetScroll 120
$xinput list
⎜ ↳ Genius Laser Mouseid=8[slave pointer (2)]
$dmesg

Mouse [Genius Laser Mouse] on usb-:00:13.1-1/input0

When PC wake up from sleep to RAM the mouse is not detected anymore and
lsusb/xinput stop to display information about the mouse.

The problem only occurs with the mouse. I have other devices like USB graphics
tablet and it works fine after resume.
I try several Kernels on Kubuntu 64bits 11.10 Oneiric and 12.04 Precise, and
the problem always happens.

[Bug 994355] Re: Mouse does not work on wakeup from sleep

2012-05-28 Thread YAFU
More details about this issue:
In Kubuntu (KDE) when I suspend to RAM from KMenuSleep the system always goes
into sleep mode correctly. When the system wakes up the mouse problem happens
that I had mentioned before.
Now in this instance where the mouse is not detected dmesg shows:

[ 9109.020745] PM: Finishing wakeup.
[ 9109.020746] Restarting tasks ...
[ 9109.020899] usb 3-1: USB disconnect, device number 17
[ 9109.042179] done.
[ 9112.280061] hub 3-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 1. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[ 9115.368057] hub 3-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 1. Maybe the USB cable is bad?

In this instance if I run sudo pm-suspend instead suspend from
KMenuSleep, the system tries to go to suspend mode but fails and
immediately restarted but this time with the mouse working. Now dmesg
shows:

[ 9177.792152] PM: resume of devices complete after 7554.485 msecs
[ 9177.792340] PM: resume devices took 7.556 seconds
[ 9177.792443] PM: Finishing wakeup.
[ 9177.792445] Restarting tasks ... done.
[ 9177.944035] usb 3-1: new low-speed USB device number 22 using ohci_hcd
[ 9178.120429] input: Genius Laser Mouse as
/devices/pci:00/:00:13.1/usb3/3-1/3-1:1.0/input/input19
[ 9178.120695] generic-usb 0003:0458:003A.0006: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.10
Mouse [Genius Laser Mouse] on usb-:00:13.1-1/input0

Then every time I try to sleep to RAM from KMenuSleep the system suspends
successfully but when it wakes up the mouse does not work.
Every time I try suspend with sudo pm-suspend the system fails to suspend but
the mouse works again.
I clarify that the mouse works fine, and I've tried the same USB port with
other devices and it has not problem. So I do not think it's a USB cable
problem as indicated by dmesg.

[Bug 987531] Re: cpufreq si not working properly

2012-05-18 Thread YAFU
I have a problem with CPU over ondemand governor on Kubuntu 12.04 Precise
Pangolin, but I'm not sure if this is related with that report.
CPU AMD Athlon X2 4800+ under powernow-k8 driver. Tested with
3.2.0-24-generic Kernel, and 3.3.6 Kernel from this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~upubuntu-com/+archive/kernel

The problem is that my CPU constantly running at full speed over ondemand
governor (2.50 GHz) even the CPU usage is low , with a consequent increase in
temperature. This problem did not occur in Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric, which under
ondemand CPU cores running at 1000 MHz when CPU usage is low and frecuency
increased when required. Therefore, the CPU temperature remains lower in
Oneiric.
I set conservative as governor with cpufreq-set, but CPU is always running
at full speed too.

Whatever governor I choose, only allows higher frequency(not scaling allowed):
current policy: frequency should be within 2.50 GHz and 2.50 GHz.
The governor ondemand may decide which speed to use
  within this range.

[Bug 831768] Re: aptitude cannot handle conflicts with multiarch enabled

2012-05-08 Thread YAFU
The problem still happens in Kubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin. For example
after installing programs that require 32bit libraries (google earth,
skype, TV-Maxe). Then if you do sudo aptitude -f install then
aptitude does not know how to resolve dependencies and it wants to
remove some important packages.

http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers

That is, install git and the basic build dependencies, then:

git clone git://linuxtv.org/media_build.git
cd media_build
./build
sudo make install

[Bug 838130] Re: Kernel 3.0 breaks DVB-T (ISDB-Tb) in DiBcom 8000

2011-10-13 Thread YAFU
Tested with the latest Oneiric kernel (3.0.0-12.20) and the mainline kernel
(3.1.0-0301rc9.201110050905). The problem is still present in both versions.
dmesg shows:
dib0700: tx buffer length is larger than 4. Not supported.

The link below mentions that the patch fixes the problem:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=639161

In the link I had written earlier and is now impossible to enter
(https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41232) , some users commented that
the solution to the official kernel was newly scheduled for Kernel 3.2.
Thanks.

2011-10-12 Thread YAFU
Could someone patch the kernel and build the packages for us to see if it works?
Otherwise, Ubuntu Oneiric will be released with a kernel where this popular
chip does not work.
Thanks.

I do not think apport may add useful information to this bug, and so you can
see on the bugzilla.kernel.org link, is a confirmed bug.

then stops working. This problem does not happen with 2.6.38 Kernel. All
this I said I tested with Kubuntu 64bits: 10.04 Lucid, 11.04 Natty and

2010-11-07 Thread YAFU
I forgot to say that I have an ATI x1250 card and use the free radeon
dtivers.

The ia32-libs_20090808ubuntu9+maverick~xorgedgers2_amd64.deb package
from xorg edgers PPA Repository solves the problem definitively.

Be careful. Do not add the repository. Just download and install the
package.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ia32-libs

Happens the problem described in the title, as shown in the image I
uploaded. Bad visualization. Radial lines and the map is incomplete at
the edges.

I do not know if it's a problem in Google Earth or ia32 libraries, but I
suspect it is a problem with ia32-libs because as I said in the next link, also
the same problem occurs in Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid 64 bits if I install the
Maverick ia32-libs.

[Bug 653652] [NEW] [Realtek ALC883] No audio/sound with pulseaudio in Kubuntu Maverick 10.10

2010-10-02 Thread YAFU
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I have installed Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat (beta) Updated to date
(RC packages I think, and KDE SC 4.5.1).

My motherboard is ASUS M2A-VM HDMI with integrated Realtek ALC883.

KMix shows very few configuration options. From SystemSettings I have selected
as preferred device my stereo analog device, but does not work and I not hear
anything when I press the test button. In SystemSettings do not appear items
related to pulseaudio as I believe was in Lucid if you have installed
pulseaudio.
I tried installing pavucontrol and it have more options than KMix. When
playing with VLC, pavucontrol shows variations on the meters as if it detects
the audio, but I get no audio outputs.
I've also tried selecting Alsa as driver in the players but still does not
work.

[Bug 576555] Re: [x1400] screen flicker (lucid)

2010-10-01 Thread YAFU
@kurt belgrave, I did not have flickers or flashes again in exactly the
same conditions in Maverick, ie the login or when changing the display
properties. That is, with regard to this bug I think that no longer
happens in Maverick, but with desktop effects enabled is a bad
performance in general: flicker, screen corruption, poor performance on
video playback, etc. You can see my xorg log in this report:

My motherboard is ASUS M2A-VM HDMI with integrated video card ATI Radeon x1250.
Using free drivers xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.13.1-1ubuntu5, libgl1-mesa-dri
7.9~git20100924-0ubuntu1.

Have acceleration:
$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

But the desktop effects are disabled and from SystemSettings in Desktop
Effects all options are disabled and I can not change any option of
them.

Maybe this is related to:
