[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2016-02-28 Thread Mlt
It would be more productive to give some more details here.

I had this problem on 15.10 and now 16.04, and other subsystems are
working okay as I am able to connect via ADB. When I try to connect I
get the error message: "No Storages found. Maybe you need to unlock your
device?" The device is unlocked.

The command $ mtp-detect | grep idVendor

Gives:

Device 0 (VID=18d1 and PID=4ee2) is a Google Inc (for LG Electronics/Samsung)
Nexus 4/5/7/10 (MTP+ADB).
ignoring libusb_claim_interface() = -6PTP_ERROR_IO: failed to open session,
trying again after resetting USB interface
LIBMTP libusb: Attempt to reset device
Error 1: Get Storage information failed.

  idVendor: 18d1

None of the suggested workarounds do.

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2016-02-28 Thread Mlt
I have the same issue with a nexus 5, and with marshmallow there seems
to be no other option than MTP.

What does the ubuntu phone use? I hope its not MTP because that would
just be embarrassing...

[Bug 1162140] [NEW] ati adapter not recognised by 3.8.x kernel

2013-03-30 Thread Mlt
Public bug reported:

I am running 13.04 on a notebook with an ati Mobility Radeon HD 4200
Series video adapter.

this has worked fine on previous versions, but is not recognised by
3.8.x kernel and respective modules. Instead video is limited to 800 x
600.

The limit in resolution affects Plymouth from the Grub prompt.

[Bug 1162140] Re: ati adapter not recognised by 3.8.x kernel

2013-03-30 Thread Mlt
Runing apport I get the following:

Fontconfig warning: /etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf, line 9: reading
configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.
ERROR: The launchpadlib Python module is not installed. This functionality is
not available.

I have tried apt-get install, but it doesn't exist as a package.

Any ideas?

I also see that changed to xorg - does plymouth rely on xorg?

Thanks for the suggestion -it certainly helps and reduces the occurences

Having said that, launching REkonq to write this did cause some

Re: [Bug 763065] Re: Kubuntu - distorted sound

2011-04-22 Thread Mlt
Having spent the day fiddling, an update on this.

This is not a hardware fault as an install of 10.10 works fine (with
gnome and kde)

I updated to 11.04 and the problem came back in KDE, however in Unity and
lubuntu the sound is fine. I tried xine and gstreamer but have had the
problem in both.

[Bug 96473] Re: [nvidia-glx] Window content is black after opening 5/6 windows when using compiz

2007-09-16 Thread Mlt
I am not sure that https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125566 and this one
are not the same for the reasons outlined in that bug. There is a
recent problem with the way that video memory is being dealt with which
has changed for the gutsy release.

I, and others, would be grateful if you took this seriously and did not
just put it in the it's all Nvidia's fault pile (which I know it is
really...)

[Bug 125566] Re: compiz gives me black windows

2007-09-15 Thread Mlt
As this bug seems to be considered unimportant can I explain further?

I realise that there is the general black window problem because of
Nvidia,, etc. However, this has recently got worse. For example, I was
able to watch tv from my myth backend, have a number of windows open and
everything was fine,

Know, I cannot have my Konqueror maximised because I four tabs open in
Firefox. I have nothing else open.

There is something going on with the memory use that happened at about
the time of my first report.

happen although it had previously in Feisty.

Something changed as now it happens with only 2 or 3 windows open so
making the whole compiz desktop experience pointless.

I would suggest that a recent change is eating video memory, meaning we
are running out so much quicker than before.

[Bug 94676] doesn´t default to tty7 on boot up and X does not restart

2007-03-22 Thread Mlt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

On my new feisty install, when computer boots, the system defaults to
the text that would show if the bootup was verbose and not hidden.

If I switch to tty7 gdm is there- this is similar to this bug: 46084.

In addition, if I control-alt-backspace the x server must be started
with startx and does not do so automatically.

[Bug 94593] An application using the MySQL driver may crash if the database is explicitly removed before QApplication is destroyed

2007-03-21 Thread Mlt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

There are problems with the way that the QT libraries work with MySQL.
This is causing great problems with MythTV packages and possibly others.
However, it appears that this has been solved by the openSUSE
maintainers.

The problems are described here: http://www.gossamer-
threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/258369 and here: http://www.gossamer-
threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/257269#257269

The trolltech bug report is here: http://www.trolltech.com/developer
/task-tracker/index_html?id=154194method=entry

As this is a clear problem that has been solved elsewhere, would it be
possible to use this solution for Feisty and not wait for Trolltech?

[Bug 63905] Re: mouse cursor disappears

2007-03-08 Thread Mlt
I have the same problem on my Acer L100 which has the same integrated
graphics card.

The cursor disappears when you log out of a user name and back to gdm.
Also the whole log in gdm screen moves with the cursor so the log in box
will move around the screen.

I am using the nv driver at the moment -the nvidia glx driver won ´t
load.

[Bug 65303] Re: Upgrade to edgy unusable with AMD64

What did solve the problem was turning off usplash which has allowed the
system to boot properly.

This should be marked a duplicate of the usplash amd64 bug.

[Bug 65303] Upgrade to edgy unusable with AMD64

2006-10-11 Thread Mlt
Public bug reported:

I have just updated my dapper system to edgy and have some very strange
problems that I suspect are related but do not know how.  The system is
an AMD64 system on an asus motherboard A8N-VM.  This board caused some
problems in dapper until I updated the bios.  There are no more updates
of the bios available

When I boot messages are as normal except for a message at the bottom
saying:

Kernel direct mapping tables up to 1000 @ 8000-8000

Then at the point I would expect usplash to start the screen blanks and
I am left with a white cursor in the top left.

If I change to tty1 then I get the following error message:

5e411d60:4c7d4512 F1 ILLEGAL X86 OPCODE!

It then notifies me that the 4 logical volume are now active and then
the following message:

5e411d60:4c7d4512 63 ILLEGAL X86 OPCODE!

The computer then seems to do a complete check of the file system which
the system passes.  The system then does a very slow boot to an x
terminal, there are no errors posted during this process.

The system then goes into kdm which will accept input for a short time
(I think until a return key is pressed) then the keyboard is ignored for
x or a console and there is no acceptance of any other USB input.  The
machine will then boot properly but no input is possible.  It is
possible to login from a ssh session but there is no bash/dash shell
just a “dumb” $.

I have tried booting with acpi=off noapic and this has not solved the
problem.

I have also tried reinstalling the packages making up the ubuntu-minimal
and ubuntu *standard metapackages and this has not improved matters.

In addition I have used a beta1 edgy livecd which would not boot past
the first error message as outlined above.  This was also tried with
noapic acpi=off.

[Bug 62278] Edgy not working with Safecom routers

2006-09-25 Thread Mlt
Public bug reported:

I have a minimal home network consisting of 2 computers (a desktop and a
laptop) connected to a Safecoml (SWBR-5400) router and then a cable
modem; the laptop connects wirelessly. The desktop runs dapper while the
laptop dual-boots edgy and XP.

Edgy cannot connect to the internet, it stopped being able to do this
yesterday. It can connect to the desktop via the network without any
problem. None of the usual internet services can connect –I cannot ping
any servers and so mail, web browsing, etc. are of course dead.
Confusingly, both the desktop and XP can connect to the internet.

This also affects the SWAMR-54108 - see

[Bug 60377] Is unable to play audio streams as wrong default application

2006-09-14 Thread Mlt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

When trying to play BBC radio streams in firefox (edgy) I get the following
error message:
Totem could not play
'rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/6music/live/6music_dsat_g2.ra'.

RTSP streams cannot be played yet.

The default application should be changed back to realplayer as this can
play the streams. It is better to get an error message you can fix then
one that is impossible to do so unless you know how to code.

If there is another solution I would love to know.
