Re: [Bug 2063956] Re: Dark theme and custom icons are lost after loging out
Hi Paul, Ubuntu 24.04 workstation desktop - vanilla flavour. Another issue was the mouse cursor escaping through the upper right part of the working space. Simply if you would divide the workspace into 4 equal parts the right edge of the top right quadrant is letting the mouse cursor out. Very strange behaviour. That was experienced after some time of working with the system. Another issue was the snapping windows - when the upper half top area orange indicator stayed for the whole session. Top right screen was permanently covered by the orange transparent window position indicator. I also had a complete crash by changing the mouse cursor from yaru to a different one. Rebooting was not helping, the system was crashing right back after the login. I had to reinstall. Right now I reinstalled another distro as 24.04 is not ready yet. I have an Nvidia RTX 3090 (2560 x 1440) - proprietary drivers installed by Ubuntu by the installation, AMD AM4 5950X, the only other package installed for visuals was gnome-tweaks. Dock moved to the bottom, no panel - just dock in the middle, icons size 48 pt. [Bug 2063956] [NEW] Dark theme and custom icons are lost after loging out
Public bug reported: When I log out and log in back the Dark System Theme is switched back to White System Theme. After logging back any operation is sluggish (simply opening directory takes like 20 seconds) also icons theme is reset to the default. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063956 Title: Dark theme and custom icons are lost after loging out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2063956/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2028891] Re: HTTP boot grub issue
Hi, I tested this with latest ubuntu 22.04 snapshot, and the issue still occurs. I was able to workaround it by replacing grub on http server from the one from Mantic Minotaur (grub-efi-arm64-signed_1.197+2.12~rc1-10ubuntu4_arm64.deb). Are there any plans of fixing that in near future? [Bug 1971009] Re: Read-only file system on a battery
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected impish ** Description changed: I have a 2021 Dell XPS 15 (9510) i7-11800H, 16 GB, 512 GB SSD, RTX 3050Ti, Windows 11 Pro. I’ve updated the following components: - replaced the RAM to 2x32 GB - added a brand new Samsung 980 Pro to the second NVMe slot On the secondary NVMe drive, I’ve installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Usually, I use Dell WD19TBS USB-C 180W to supply the power, Internet, external USB keyboard and mouse, and two monitors. When doing so, everything seems to be working perfectly for a long time whether working with Ubuntu or Windows. However, when the laptop is running on battery, I’m observing Ubuntu freezes that happen anywhere between seconds to minutes after a reboot. The keyboard stops responding, the icons go missing, and I’m getting dropped to the terminal with the following messages appearing: __ext4_find_entry:1611 inode #12272199: comm gmain: reading directory lblock 0 __ext4_find_entry:1611 inode #12272199: comm gmain: reading directory lblock 0 And after a few seconds, the following start to appear: system-journald: Failed to write entry (22 items, 750 bytes), ignoring: Read-only file system system-journald: Failed to write entry (22 items, 750 bytes), ignoring: Read-only file system It seems that disconnecting the docking station usually triggers the freeze immediately. When starting from a battery, it usually takes a few minutes before everything freezes. The only way to recover is to do a power long-press. If I do this sequence a few times - boot, wait for hang, power long-press, boot again, usually at some point the Samsung 980 Pro is no longer visible in the BIOS. I need to boot into Windows, wait a bit, reboot again, and the drive appears and it’s possible to boot to Ubuntu What I’ve tried: update Ubuntu to 21.10 update to the latest kernel: 5.13.0-41-generic update all drivers, including BIOS, from Windows using Dell SupportAssistant update Samsung 980 Pro firmware through Samsung Magican enabling Full Power Mode in Samsung Magician check SMART report for Samsung, it’s all clear change GRUB params, currently they look like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=off nvme_load=YES nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=250 scsi_mod.use_blk_mq=0" tried also default_ps_max_latency values 0, 5500 fsck from a live boot pendrive It looks like the drive decides to go to a sleep at some point and does not wake up. Windows works well both with docking station and battery, the Samsung NVMe is recognized by Samsung Magician. Any hint what else can I check? Windows works well both with docking station and battery, the Samsung NVMe is recognized by Samsung Magician. Any hint what else can I check? [Bug 1956518] Re: linux-firmware 1.187.24 may crash USB ports
I have the same problem with Dell Latitude E7440, Ubuntu 20.04, after an update to kernel 5.4.0-92, and having linux-firmware 1.187.24. 1) I'm using a UGreen USB Switch to switch between the inputs of keyboard, mouse and audio between two stations 2) After the kernel and linux-firmware upgrade I did a reboot, the system took much longer to start (console shown "failed to enumerate USB devices"), when it did boot external keyboards and mouse wasn't working 3) Pluging in any device directly to laptop's USB port does not work 4) I've managed to get the external keyboard and mouse to work by disabling the Bluetooth in Ubuntu settings and rebooting back to 5.4.0-91 (worked via USB Switch) 5) However after another reboot to 5.4.0-91, USB ports stopped working again -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956518 Title: linux-firmware 1.187.24 may crash USB ports To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1956518/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1927514] Re: [HP Pavilion 15] Keyboard does not work immediately on Ubuntu login page
apport information ** Tags added: ubuntu ** Description changed: I have a problem with logging into Ubuntu, i.e. in the login window I cannot enter the password for 10-20 seconds (most often with a cold start) the keyboard does not work (laptop keyboard). After several seconds, the keyboard starts and I can enter the password. I tested on "clean" versions of Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS, 20.10 (also with Kernel 5.10), 21.04. The problem occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0016nw laptop with an Intel Core i7-1135G7 processor (also occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0073cl with Intel Core i7-1165G7). During normal operation, the keyboard works without any problems - the problem is only when logging into the system. I am using the latest BIOS version (F.12), but I have also used older versions: F.5 and F.11. Very much puzzled
Hello, I decided to try to install Ubuntu Mate 20.04 on my laptop. I got ORCA announcing itself and it was all of the accessible installation. I asked my sighted helper to finish up this installation for me. Now, I have ORCA talking in the graphical environment, however, no speech in the console mode. Yes, I installed espeakup & etc. Any suggestion on how to fix this, please. Re: Uubuntu 21.04 beta has inaccessible installer
I mentioned about it too in the past. There was no reply at all from the accessibility group. Only way to install ubuntu for a totally blind person on his/her own is to use the ubuntu 18.04 installer and then to run do-release-upgrade. Thank you for response. It looks like it has been fixed since 2021.01.02. I've just done Xubuntu update and I cannot reproduce this issue. When I created this ticket on 2021.01.02 the Xubuntu was also up-to-date. I'm closing this issue. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released ** Summary changed: - [Xubuntu 20.04] Distorted HDMI audio + [SOLVED][Xubuntu 20.04] Distorted HDMI audio -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909866 Title: [SOLVED][Xubuntu 20.04] Distorted HDMI audio To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1909866/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1909866] [NEW] [Xubuntu 20.04] Distorted HDMI audio
Public bug reported: After connecting a laptop to TV set via HDMI and redirecting the sound to HDMI the sound becomes distorted. It worked perfectly fine on Xubuntu 18.04. The issue occurred immediately after upgrading to Xubuntu 20.04. It usually works correctly when the movie started playing before the laptop was connected to TV-set. Right after connecting the laptop to the TV-set the movie continues to play with no sound issues. The sound issues occur when a movie is paused and resumed to play. The audio is distorted then. The 100% workaround is to change the refresh rate in Xubuntu's display settings to another value e.g. 60Hz. It works until I pause the movie again. Then I need to switch back to the previous refresh rate e.g. 50Hz and so on. In general I choose between 50 and 60 Hz in a round-robin fashion. The issue occurs when playing the movies via all available players e.g. mplayer, vlc or embedded in web browser. It never occurs when using the Laptop's display. I cannot observe any system log entries regarding this issue. [Bug 1885191] Re: [Focal] Installation Fails with "Invalid dep_id" when using Intel VROC
Hi, What is the result of this issue? On my VROC platform I observe that VROC RAID does not appear as install target at all (using live-installer). Mdadm assembles the RAID, but it does not appear on the list of available devices. With d-i it is working fine. Is the result the same in this defect, or there is some user visible error here? I dare to say it is not correct. How did you managed to move your focus to 'install Ubuntu on this machine' with ORCA Running? The tabbing through the options simply doesn't work. I tried this on 3 different system before I started to talk about it. Did you click with the mouse? As soon as my wife clicked on 'install ubuntu on this machine' with the mouse for me I could carry on with the installation but no matter what I tried on my own I couldn't go over this first step - there was no way. Hi, I am talking about ubuntu-mate 20.04 installation. You're telling me to press F5 or F4, at what time then one should do it without seeing the screen. Their instructions say to wait a while and press the Super key with letter S to start ORCA and carry on with the trial or installation of ubuntu. It worked with no problem with previous release so why not now. I got over to my place an 11-year-old sighted kid to do it for me. 4 years later still an issue. Just my 3 cents: perhaps move font dependencies from `*-desktop` metapackages to correct `language-pack-*` packages? You already have some suitable intermediate metapackages, like `fonts-indic` or `fonts-lao`, just create such sets for, say, `fonts- cyryllic`, `fonts-japanese`, etc. For me there's not much difference in understanding if Chinese/Japanese/Hindu/Arab/Georgian/Korean/Kannada/Lao/* text renders as box-placeholders or as a correct font.
