WPA funciona com a broadcom, porém existem alguns "probleminhas".

Mas em fim, se ele usar WPA com chave, basta digitala, após ter feito a
devida configuração no NetworkManager (Dizer o tipo de WPA, etc...), se for
certificado, é um pouco mais complicado, pois talvez precise converter para
SSL.

Do mais, dá uma pesquisada no Google que você vai achar milhares de
soluções.

caro colega, faça o seguinte... use o comando "ndiswrapper -l" para listar os 
driver já carregados pelo ndiswrapper e remova todos da lista com a opçao "-r", 
feito isso vá até o site do fabricante do laptop e baixe o driver wireless, 
instale o mesmo em um diretorio e dê os comandos a seguir: 

ndiwrapper -i .inf
mdiswrapper -m
modprobe ndiswrapper
edite o arquivo /etc/profile

vá até a ultima linha do arquivo e digite "ndiswrapper" sem as aspas
reinicie o seu computador, e teoricamente, vai funfar.

Cara, antes de tudo, da uma googlada que tem tudo sobre isso! Procura por
"WPA LINUX"  q vc acha!

Para usar WPA, utilize o wpasupplicant!

Procurando no historico da nossa lista, oq mais vai achar é gente instalando
essa placa wifi.
No meu eu instalei um driver .deb q ficou beleza.
La vai a mesma coisa que falei prum user aqui da lista que funcionou 100%.

Driver:
http://ubuntu.cafuego.net/pool/feisty-cafuego/bcm43xx/bcm43xx-firmware_1.3-1ubuntu2_all.deb

Caso nao ache, procure por este nome q talvez ache.

step-by-step:
Seguinte, primeiro desinstala o ndiswrapper e o fwcutter pelo synaptic.
Depois vai no seu terminal e digita:

sudo dpkg -i bcm43xx-firmware_1.3-1ubuntu2_all.deb

e seja feliz.

Reporte caso vc consiga.
