[Bug 53581] Re: hoary: intermittent SIGSEGV from php pages after upgrade to 4.3.10-10ubuntu4.5
data points (still in progress as I write this) previous data points - remove 3017 == still breaks - remove 1990 == still breaks - remove 1990 + 3017 == still breaks bisectioning - remove 1990 + 3017 + 2563 + 3011 + 3018 == still breaks - note that this is equal to applying 0996 + 1490 + 1494 + 1608 - remove all 9 (sanity check) == works great - apply 0996 + 1490 == works great - apply 0996 + 1490 + 1494 == breaks So, it appears (for now) that 1494 is the culprit (will be trying 1494 on its own as well). [Bug 54020] Kernel panic on install on amd64
Public bug reported: I'm attempting to install Ubuntu server 6.06 on an amd64 machine, dual- opteron server with 2GB ECC RAM, SiI software SATA raid driver, Tyan K8SD-Pro motherboard. As soon as I select the #1 option to install to the hard disk, I get a kernel panic. This occurs after the dialog "Loading Linux Kernel" proceeds to 100%. While proceeding to 100%, I get a couple of lines of display corruption, and then the panic: PANIC: early exception rip 8046c58d error 0 cr2 3440 PANIC: early exception rip 8011e35a error 0 cr2 ff5fd023 I've tried setting: acpi=off noapic nolapic, and this results in a changed panic message (just one line, don't have the message handy). If more hardware specs or the second panic message are required I'm happy to supply. I've tried disabling ACPI in the BIOS, and thats about the extent of what I know to try given the crypticness of the panic message and this being my first attempted Linux install. Given its a fairly popular motherboard and pretty vanilla setup, I haven't tried any further tweaking, as a) I don't think it should be required (installers should be robust, or at least provide a pointer to whats going wrong w/o requiring kernel sources etc), and b) the above doesn't offer even a slight bit of guidance as to what the problem might be (if it even hinted at *whats* causing the panic I might be tempted to try further rather than finding the needle in the proverbial haystack). I've tried the alternate install CD in text mode too, exactly the same results. /var/log/syslog indicates that your machine is having trouble reading from the CD, to the extent that the kernel got very upset and started returning wrong data. There's not a lot that the installer can do about this, since it's running off the CD itself. [Bug 36581] Re: gam_server consumes lots of cpu time
Same problem as everyone else, but noticed a strange thing on doing a "ps -x". As shown in the attachement, esd and some evolution programs are running too. I'm using a fully updated Kubuntu Dapper and never started evolution on my own will, so I fell that very strange... -- gam_server consumes lots of cpu time https://launchpad.net/bugs/36581 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54092] bcm43xx hangs after hibernate
Public bug reported: I've got a Compaq Presario M2000 with a BCM43xx wireless card. I've got the card working with wpa_supplicant, however, if I hibernate the computer, when I return from hibernation, the wireless connection does not return. If I run /etc/init.d/networking restart, it hangs the laptop If I kill wpa_supplicant and restart it manually, it hangs the laptop. If I kill wpa_supplicant, unload bcm43xx and reload bcm43xx, wpa_supplicant seems to start automatically (not sure how - though I didn't verify that the kill command had stopped it in the first place) and wireless networking works again. I extracted the firmware for the card from wl_apsta.o, obtained from here http://drinus.net/airport/wl_apsta.o (as advised by https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Dapper) (I'm running Kubuntu) ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- bcm43xx hangs after hibernate https://launchpad.net/bugs/54092 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54091] Font rendering problem in epiphany, firefox, thunderbird, etc.
Public bug reported: I read plenty of Urdu web pages each day. When I was using Breezy I had no trouble viewing Urdu web pages or editing my files in Urdu. But in Dapper I am having many problems: 1. All web browsers totally ignore the Urdu fonts. I have added fonts in .fonts, /usr/share/fonts and fonts:/// folders. Used fc-cache and followed instructions ubuntu-desktop guide many times. but still No browser not even thunderbird would display them. 2. When I installed microsoft fonts including Tahoma these browsers display Urdu web pages in msfonts because Tahoma is what urdu webmasters use on their pages as the last font option. 3. I can write in urdu using gEdit which recognizes the Urdu fonts but it is unable to render them properly. I have installed language-support-ur, language-pack-ur, language-pack- ur-base, language-pack-gnome-ur, language-pack-gnome-ur-base. But I am still unable to read urdu webpages. I tried forcing firefox by adding Urdu fonts in Preferences > Content > fonts & colors > Advanced. I even unchecked the box "allow pages to chose their own fonts". But still firefox wouldn't display these pages in urdu fonts. Urdu fonts that I am using are: Nafees Web Naskh http://www.crulp.org/nafeesWebNaskh.html Urdu Naskh Asiatype http://www.bbc.co.uk/urdu/fontinstall/popupwin.shtml to install this font I install it on windows and copy paste it in ubuntu. Tahoma and msttcorefonts. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed ** Tags added: epiphany firefox fonts html rendering thunderbird ur urdu -- Font rendering problem in epiphany, firefox, thunderbird, etc. https://launchpad.net/bugs/54091 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54090] can't receive emails over 10MB (mailbox_size_limit = 0)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: postfix I am using Dapper Drake, with the current postfix package (2.2.10-1ubuntu0.1). It seems I can't receive emails that exceed a total size of 10MB, they are eaten silently. That happens regardless of the value of the mailbox_size_limit parameter (0 or 1 cause the same problem). Everything works fine if I switch to exim and I am still retrieving email with fetchmail and the same fetchmail config, so this is why I suspect postfix. The configuration I use is based on the "Internet Site" option proposed by dpkg-reconfigure postfix, and here is my /etc/postfix/main.cf file: # See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version # Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first # line of that file to be used as the name. [Bug 53954] Re: OpenOffice.org v2.0.3 Portuguese (Portugal)
ok, could you outline how pt and pt_br differ? I cannot see a pt translation upstream, and in it's current form, the source for the language files is not distributed on the site. Do you have a pointer where to get it? ** Changed in: openoffice.org2 (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected => Needs Info -- OpenOffice.org v2.0.3 Portuguese (Portugal) https://launchpad.net/bugs/53954 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
