[Bug 5823] Re: Recent changes seem to have broken electricsheep

2006-08-27 Thread tdot
BUMP: still seeing this exact same issue on Dapper Drake, system up to
date 08/27/06.

I have an NVIDIA FX 5200 using Ubuntu binary nvidia package.

I have this problem (blank screen nothing renders) regardless of whether
I use the ubuntu electricsheep pkg (2.6.6) or download and compile my
own source of electricsheep (2.6.8). Not sure what the problem is.

Electricsheep is broken on Ubuntu, can we fix it? thanks. Please email
me for any information you need (rush2112 at gmail). Thx.

[Bug 57914] xorg crashes when viewing long text lines

2006-08-27 Thread John-Scott Atlakson
Public bug reported:

This happens to me frequently while using firefox (w/web developer
extension). For a concrete and specific way to recreate...if you use
firefox w/web developer extension, navigate to plone.org. Then click on
the web developer toolbar 'Information' - 'View JavaScript'. Scroll
down and your x server will restart. No error messages are displayed and
I don't see any relevant messages in Xorg.0.log. All unsaved data is
lost. This also happens if I copy a long single line of text into an
html form (again using firefox). I've seen other bug reports mention
gedit and gtkTextView have problems with long text lines (for example,
Bug #37511), but these seem to mostly be speed issues, not complete x
server crashes. Just to test, I used wget to grab the javascript file
that causes the crash and gedit displays it without any problems (there
is on long line in the middle of the javascript). I'm not really sure
which package is the culprit in my situation, so I didn't quite know
where to post this. Also, if there are other logs I should look at and
post here, let me know.

[Bug 5823] Re: Recent changes seem to have broken electricsheep

2006-08-27 Thread tdot
More info:

Was reading on another a href=http://fuxoft.blogspot.com/2006/06
/nvidia-and-mplayer-dont-like-electric.htmlthread/a... One way I was
able to get ElectricSheep working was:

1. apt-get install mplayer
2.open mplayer in my X session manually and leave it running
3. start electricsheep with --mplayer 1

Oddly enough if one doesn't start mplayer then it doesn't work.

Even with mplayer running I couldn't get gnome-screensaver to launch
ElectricSheep successfully (just get black screen still). Could it be
the way i'm specifying the launch parameters in /usr/share/gnome-
screensaver/themes/electricsheep.desktop ? Here's what I have, am I
quoting the Exec line right, and does TryExec need anything? I thought
tryExec was only checked to see if the binary exists, which gets used to
determine if the .desktop file should get put into the list of
screensavers in System-Preferences-Screensavers...

[Bug 50031] Re: [regression] Suspend [to-RAM and to-disk] is broken in 2.6.15-25.43

2006-08-27 Thread DaveAbrahams
I'm still experiencing a whole collection of oddball symptoms on my T60p
(with latest ubuntu dapper kernel, latest ATI-released fglrx driver,
LVM, and SATA), including:

* Suspend to disk seems to work, but in the boot sequence where it's
supposed to restore from disk, it just barrels ahead and does a fresh
reboot.

* Suspend to disk seems to be working, but after some disk activity it
just resumes automatically without ever powering off the laptop.

* Suspend to ram seems to work, but:

   * resume occasionally works, but the machine is totally
unresponsive until I hit the blue Fn key

   * Often, after hitting Fn I'll get a long stream of scheduling
while atomic xorg/0x0001/somenumber messages that never ends.
The last time I got something very different that looked like a stack
trace of some kind.

[Bug 22336] Re: laptop overheats when performing CPU intensive tasks.

2006-08-27 Thread GreatBunzinni
It's a shame because it seems that Ubuntu is the only distribution which
suffers from this bug. To make matters worse, this bug is creating
problems in Ubuntu for over than a year without a solution. Two releases
of Ubuntu have passed and until now... nothing. Still overheating.

I love Kubuntu and I believe that until now it was the best linux
distribution I had the pleasure to use but this bug is starting to be
unbearable, not mentioning that it is a danger to the hardware.

[Bug 57926] System hangs when installing seveas repository's libwxgtk2.6-0 package

2006-08-27 Thread hexion
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

I know this bug is related to that package since Ubuntu's one has no
problems, but the fact is that after installing it, kernel panics are
too ussual. And that won't have to happen.

Tested with kernels 2.6.15-26-386 and 2.6.15-26-k7

System: Ubuntu dapper

Hardware I think it's related to the bug: SATA drive with vfat
partitions

Steps to reproduce:
-

1) Have system ok, and add Seveas Repository:
deb http://mirror2.ubuntulinux.nl dapper-seveas all
deb-src http://mirror2.ubuntulinux.nl dapper-seveas all

2) sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude dist-upgrade

This will upgrade libwxgtk2.6-0 within these versions:
apt-cache policy libwxgtk2.6-0
libwxgtk2.6-0:
  Instalados: 2.6.1.2ubuntu2
  Candidato: 2.6.3.2.1.1ubuntu2~dapper1
  Tabla de versión:
 2.6.3.2.1.1ubuntu2~dapper1 0
500 http://mirror2.ubuntulinux.nl dapper-seveas/all Packages
 *** 2.6.1.2ubuntu2 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com dapper/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) Reboot

4) System hungs will occur sometimes (not everytime but very frecuently) while:
- Umounting local filesystems step at shutting down or rebooting
- Opening a folder which it's mounted a vfat partition of a SATA drive

[Bug 57931] updating .dvi files

2006-08-27 Thread Ugnaught
Public bug reported:

Hi everybody,
First, sorry for my bad english (I'm french so I'm partly forgivable).
I'm writing papers in LaTeX and I like to sea regularly the result of my
compilation (under Evince). So, I have (for example) a 3 pages - file. I
modify it in a 4 pages - file. Then I compile and I update the display under
Evince... and the 4. page is missing. If I tip the page number (4) in the field
[page number], it does not work.
The error is reccurent (for .dvi files). I did not try with other format. I'm
unsing Dapper (evince version is 0.5.2).
It seems to be a minor bug but I trust you to fix it soon.
Hope I gave enough informations...
Thank you for your attention.

[Bug 57932] Wrong directive in phpbb2 apache.conf file

2006-08-27 Thread Mark Edwards
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: phpbb2

/etc/phpbb2/apache.conf contains settings for the
/usr/share/phpbb2/site/ directory, in a DirectoryMatch directive. The
way this directive is included, it doesn't hold for directories beneath
/usr/share/phpbb2/site/, such as /usr/share/phpbb2/site/templates/

This becomes a problem if there is a default setting which conflicts
with phpbb2, such as (in my case) not having FollowSymlinks enabled.
This causes all templates to break.

Simply changing the directive to Directory instead of DirectoryMatch
solves the problem in my case. I tried to make DirectoryMatch work
like so:

DirectoryMatch /usr/share/phpbb2/site/.*

but that didn't do it. This works for me:

Directory /usr/share/phpbb2/site/

[Bug 23445] Re: iMac G5 will freeze after booting up

2006-08-27 Thread Torrance
I'm using an iMacG5 Rev A, 17inch.

Incredibibly the LiveCD for Edgy Knot 1 boots, Gnome comes up, and for
the first time ever I also have sound under a linux system.

Unfortunately, the thermal/fan control still isn't enabled (it's a
kernel option!) and my native screen resolution wasn't recognised
(though the work-around for Breezy resulted in native screen resolution
so I think this may just be a problem with the LiveCD).

Anyway, it seems to me the initial problem for all systems has been
fixed with the latest kernel. What still needs to be worked around is
X-Windows configurations for the Nvidia and ATI chips, as well as the
thermal control.

[Bug 53660] Re: sbackup includes more folders than selected

2006-08-27 Thread yop
Just downloaded the sbackup from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=145360

And it seems to work fine excluding and purging (sofar)

Thanks for fixing this. This was something that was missing in the linux
world, a simple backup solution, but still powerfull and a purge option.

[Bug 44329] Re: Tiger won't run when using varrun filesystem

2006-08-27 Thread Phaedrus
It should remain open until it is resolved upstream. I think there is a
fix in their svn or cvs, but it is not released.

You can fix it locally by changing /usr/lib/tiger/config line 54 from:

TigerWorkDir=/var/run/tiger/work

to:

TigerWorkDir=/var/lib/tiger/work

and creating the /var/lib/tiger directory. This could probably be done
quite easily in the postinst.

[Bug 57938] There's no easy way to change the default icon size for one folder

2006-08-27 Thread josebagar
Public bug reported:

I use a laptop computer at a 1280x800 resolution. With this, icons on my
desktop are just too small (Using NuoveXT icon theme). Of course, I can
manually resize the icons, but this is not ideal. Maybe a per-folder option (or
just an option which only affects the icons on the desktop) could be included
in the nautilus preferences app to configure the icon size for each folder.
Also, it would be nice that nautilus told me somewhere how big the icon for a
particular item is, as it's now impossible to know if two icons have the same
size (maybe in the Properties - Basic tab?).

Also, great work!

2006-08-27 Thread Michael Bienia
I didn't send the patch upstream yet.

I don't understand why the patch helps.
But when I install 0.9.3-0ubuntu1 again seahorse segfaults.
I also built seahorse several times locally (with and without optimisations) to
find the problem but all segfaulted also. Only the builds containing the patch
didn't segfault.
