[Bug 57914] xorg crashes when viewing long text lines
Public bug reported: This happens to me frequently while using firefox (w/web developer extension). For a concrete and specific way to recreate...if you use firefox w/web developer extension, navigate to plone.org. Then click on the web developer toolbar 'Information' - 'View JavaScript'. Scroll down and your x server will restart. No error messages are displayed and I don't see any relevant messages in Xorg.0.log. All unsaved data is lost. This also happens if I copy a long single line of text into an html form (again using firefox). I've seen other bug reports mention gedit and gtkTextView have problems with long text lines (for example, Bug #37511), but these seem to mostly be speed issues, not complete x server crashes. Just to test, I used wget to grab the javascript file that causes the crash and gedit displays it without any problems (there is on long line in the middle of the javascript). I'm not really sure which package is the culprit in my situation, so I didn't quite know where to post this. Also, if there are other logs I should look at and post here, let me know. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- xorg crashes when viewing long text lines https://launchpad.net/bugs/57914 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

More info: Was reading on another a href=http://fuxoft.blogspot.com/2006/06 /nvidia-and-mplayer-dont-like-electric.htmlthread/a... One way I was able to get ElectricSheep working was: 1. apt-get install mplayer 2.open mplayer in my X session manually and leave it running 3. start electricsheep with --mplayer 1 Oddly enough if one doesn't start mplayer then it doesn't work. Even with mplayer running I couldn't get gnome-screensaver to launch ElectricSheep successfully (just get black screen still). Could it be the way i'm specifying the launch parameters in /usr/share/gnome- screensaver/themes/electricsheep.desktop ? Here's what I have, am I quoting the Exec line right, and does TryExec need anything? I thought tryExec was only checked to see if the binary exists, which gets used to determine if the .desktop file should get put into the list of screensavers in System-Preferences-Screensavers... [Bug 57932] Wrong directive in phpbb2 apache.conf file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: phpbb2 /etc/phpbb2/apache.conf contains settings for the /usr/share/phpbb2/site/ directory, in a DirectoryMatch directive. The way this directive is included, it doesn't hold for directories beneath /usr/share/phpbb2/site/, such as /usr/share/phpbb2/site/templates/ This becomes a problem if there is a default setting which conflicts with phpbb2, such as (in my case) not having FollowSymlinks enabled. This causes all templates to break. Simply changing the directive to Directory instead of DirectoryMatch solves the problem in my case. I tried to make DirectoryMatch work like so: DirectoryMatch /usr/share/phpbb2/site/.* but that didn't do it. I'm using an iMacG5 Rev A, 17inch. Incredibibly the LiveCD for Edgy Knot 1 boots, Gnome comes up, and for the first time ever I also have sound under a linux system. Unfortunately, the thermal/fan control still isn't enabled (it's a kernel option!) and my native screen resolution wasn't recognised (though the work-around for Breezy resulted in native screen resolution so I think this may just be a problem with the LiveCD). Anyway, it seems to me the initial problem for all systems has been fixed with the latest kernel. [Bug 44329] Re: Tiger won't run when using varrun filesystem
It should remain open until it is resolved upstream. I think there is a fix in their svn or cvs, but it is not released. You can fix it locally by changing /usr/lib/tiger/config line 54 from: TigerWorkDir=/var/run/tiger/work to: TigerWorkDir=/var/lib/tiger/work and creating the /var/lib/tiger directory. This could probably be done quite easily in the postinst. -- Tiger won't run when using varrun filesystem https://launchpad.net/bugs/44329 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 57938] There's no easy way to change the default icon size for one folder
Public bug reported: I use a laptop computer at a 1280x800 resolution. With this, icons on my desktop are just too small (Using NuoveXT icon theme). Of course, I can manually resize the icons, but this is not ideal. Maybe a per-folder option (or just an option which only affects the icons on the desktop) could be included in the nautilus preferences app to configure the icon size for each folder. Also, it would be nice that nautilus told me somewhere how big the icon for a particular item is, as it's now impossible to know if two icons have the same size (maybe in the Properties - Basic tab?). Also, great work! ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- There's no easy way to change the default icon size for one folder https://launchpad.net/bugs/57938 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I didn't send the patch upstream yet. I don't understand why the patch helps. But when I install 0.9.3-0ubuntu1 again seahorse segfaults.
