[Bug 61106] Re: looping when it's your browser that's crashing
Confirmed. This is a pretty tricky use case, especially since firefox is not hardcoded into apport (it uses gnome-open, which respects the user's configuration of default browser). However, since apport-gtk never opens the browser automatically, but just after clicking 'Report a bug', it's not too bad for now, since users will recognize this pretty easily. When we have a proper bug reporting tool, this will sort out itself. ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged => Low Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- looping when it's your browser that's crashing https://launchpad.net/bugs/61106 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

For the record: seb128: is the window focusing something that I can actually influence in apport-gtk itself? or is that a window manager thing? pitti: the window manager uses the timestamp of the event to decide what to do with the window since the dialog is not spawned by an user action I'm not sure on how it works seb128: isn't that precisely the focus stealing use case? seb128: e. g. the same with gaim windows right how do you run apport? seb128: apport-gtk is spawned by update-notifier when there's a new report so that's an update-notifier issue probably it has to set the right timestamp for the app it's spawing pitti: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170848 sort of the same issue Gnome bug 170848 in general "CD player viciously steals focus" [Normal,Unconfirmed] cf comment #1 from the metacity upstream seb128: ah, thank you! * pitti hugs the great Seb pitti: np * seb128 hugs pitti back mvo: so, can I blame you for that? :) seb128, pitti: if it was that easy :/ startup notification (and the whole timestamp buisiness) needs to be done by hand with the current gnome. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus similar to bug #49348 (no lasso selection in list view) it is impossible to DnD a file into a folder when in list view. Note: dragging the file in between other files, not folders. You can drag them into a folder just fine, in list view. But to have a file append a list of other files in a folder, you'd have to 'move up' one level in the filesystem hierarchy, and drag the file into the right folder. It can off course be dragged to the tree, but to an ex-Win user this is strange. Lasso selection and DnD do work in Explorer. Moreover, in icon view, lasso selection and DnD are not a problem, so this would confuse the user (I guess). "Hey, yesterday I could DnD just fine, but in this folder it won't work". [Bug 35474] Re: Dapper - RT61 with wep key doesn't work
I'd just like to add a comment here. I've experienced the same, and recompiling the source provided above and replacing the rt61.ko with the generated one has solved the problem, but there's one thing I'm unable to understand: Booting Dapper in "Live CD mode" (without installing) WORKS PERFECTLY, no problem at all, but when installing and after rebooting, the problem raises as described. I've tested the kernel version and the module file (rt61.ko) at setup time and I find they're exactly the same. This fact has led me that the driver provided by the kernel was good, and try to find a solution somewhere in the installation. Just for learning and my mind's health, can anybody explain this? -- Dapper - RT61 with wep key doesn't work https://launchpad.net/bugs/35474 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 61176] Re: Inconsistent use of Icons
I would like to add my support to this proposal, though it may be more appropriate to put forward as a design specification for Edgy +1 rather than a bug for Edgy. I feel that a visually consistant 'presentation' across the board is important for the following reasons, not necessarily in order of importance, 1. Ubuntu would be more visually appealing, and 'polished', thus creating a really good impression to new user, and first impressions do count. 2. A more consistent use of visual 'metaphors', particularly with the main 'suite' of applications that Ubuntu ships with, would greatly smooth the learning process for users migrating from other platforms. 3. Promote the 'unified' desktop principle as outlined by the Tango Project. This would benefit those users who run a mix of GNOME/GTK & KDE/QT based applications. There would be the added benefit of simplifying the creation of Iconsets. 4. The current release of Gnome 2.16, now ships with an Icon set that is both visually consistent with Tango, as do some applications ie The Gimp. Further to this work is well underway to creating an iconset for Open Office, as such Tango is perhaps the most 'complete' iconset currently available, aside from the previous GNOME/Hicolour 'package'. 5. In keeping with the distinct branding that both Ubuntu & Kubuntu have, it would only be necessary to 'recolour' icons ie folders, rather than (continue to) create unique 'Ubuntu' Iconsets. On that last point I realise that this has been done with the various Human sets, however, (with all due respect), they don't fit well with Tango. I assume that you get the same behaviour for other commands as well? (like 'sudo true', which does nothing, but is a nice way of checking for the password). [Bug 61228] inotify syscalls missing

[Bug 61227] Gnome CPU frequency applet only controls cpu0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets On my Intel Core2 Duo, I have CPU frequency scaling working fine. Both CPUs can have their frequency and governor changed separately (using /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu{0 or 1}/cpufreq/...). After creating two instances of the gnome CPU frequency applet (one per CPU), each displays the correct frequency, but both the instance for CPU0 and CPU1 control CPU0.
