[Bug 65046] Re: Dash doesn't understand source
The word source is a bash extension: the portable version is the dot (.) command. Please test with the minimally failing example. For instance, with an empty or trivial .bashrc file, does: if [ -f ~/.bashrc ] then . ~/.bashrc fi fail? If not, the bug would seem to be other than the one you've described. If so, please include the exact error message you received. Also, in what way does dash claim to be /bin/bash? If you're referring to the contents of the $SHELL environment variable, you can't blame dash for that: while it's commonly misinterpreted to mean the currently running shell, it actually is set by login (and some shells) to be the value of the user's login shell, as specified by /etc/passwd. That is, if your login shell is /bin/tcsh, and SHELL is currently unset, and you run bash, bash will set SHELL to /bin/tcsh (and not /bin/bash). Dash may possibly do the same: or it may be that it was already set by a parent process. ** Changed in: dash (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- Dash doesn't understand source https://launchpad.net/bugs/65046 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

When I initially installed ubuntu (breezy) I set up LVM and eventually upgraded to dapper. Now the upgrade from dapper to edgy failed. I left the upgrade process runing, and when I came back the app was not running (maybe it crashed, I don't really know.) When it started booting this error message showed: ata3: translated ATA stat/err 0x51/40 to SCSI ... The system boots, but when finds this errors it stops and mounts /dev/sda in read only. I tried doing a fsck but it game me many errors (and it was a bit late...) I don't know if this is related to the upgrade tool, but I thought better to report than doing nothing. On a related note I tried to boot the live cd beta edgy to see what happened, but I couldn't find the LVM tools vgchange and related. [Bug 66355] Re: gpilotd locks up my Palm Z22
It can be useful to figure out if the problem is with gnome-pilot or the lower, pilot-link, layer. To isolate (assuming you have pilot-xfer installed) try the following: 1. Kill gpilotd (you may need to remove the pilot applet from the panel, and then do killall gpilotd from a terminal window). 2. Now try running pilot-xfer: pilot-xfer -p /dev/pilot -l (or '-p /dev/ttyUSB0', or '-p /dev/ttyUSB1', or '-p net:', etc) 3. If that doesn't work, then you have most likely got a problem with your kernel/udev/usb/cables, etc, not gnome-pilot. It can also be useful to see the output from the gpilotd daemon. To do this: 1. Kill gpilotd (you may need to remove the pilot applet from the panel, and then do killall gpilotd from a terminal window). 2. Restart gpilotd (/usr/bin/gpilotd). ** Changed in: gnome-pilot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- gpilotd locks up my Palm Z22 https://launchpad.net/bugs/66355 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 66362] Equation Solver not enabled in Kalzium
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kalzium The Kalzium shipped with Dapper and Edgy don't have the equationsolver enabled. You can see the feature in action in this screenshot: http://edu.kde.org/kalzium/pics/kalzium-eq-solver.png As stated in several places, the packager just needs OCaml and libfacile installed on _compiletime_, this is _not_ a runtime dependency. In Debian, this feature is enabled (I was told), and both compiletime-debs exist as deb-packages. You can read more info about his here: http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/3.5/kdeedu/kalzium/README.packagers?rev=451368view=markup and http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/3.5/kdeedu/kalzium/configure.in.in?rev=475256view=markup ** Affects: kdeedu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Equation Solver not enabled in Kalzium https://launchpad.net/bugs/66362 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 66360] x-ttcidfont-conf.defoma fails to create fonts.dir file on Edgy
Public bug reported: The /usr/share/defoma/scripts/x-ttcidfont-conf.defoma script fails to create a fonts.dir file, which means that applications using the old X font subsystem (like emacs) don't see the truetype fonts installed on the system. The invocation of mkfontdir is: system('/usr/bin/mkfontdir', '-e', '/usr/share/X11/fonts/encodings', '-e', '/usr/share/X11/fonts/encodings/large', $PkgDir/dirs/$category); As /usr/share/X11/fonts/encodings does not exist, mkfontdir errors out without creating the fonts.dir file. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings under System Settings - Network Settings - Network Interfaces there's a list of network interfaces, however the configuration parameters (speed, duplex, autonegotiate, etc.) are nowhere to be found - other than restarting (disabling+enabling) the connection, the GUI is near useless. I was having problems with the network connecting working in Half Duplex rather than Full Duplex, and had to spend time searching forums and experimenting umtill I found ethtool and its command line options, which eventually solved the problem with the correct settings. Presenting itself as a viable replacement for Windows, I would expect such settings (basically everything ethtool does) to be available from the Network Settings GUI, as it is in Windows (device configuration properties GUI). BTW when pressing the Configure Interface button (in Administrator Mode), where I expect these options to appear, there is an Advanced Settings button which looks like the intuitive place for these settings to be in some secondary dialog box.
