[Bug 74091] Removing a package gives entirely wrong error message
Public bug reported: I have Democracy Player installed, on edgy. (It is possible that I installed it from somewhere outside the Ubuntu repositories from a third-party deb; I don't remember, and I don't know how to find out. apt-cache policy democracyplayer says "Installed: 0.8.5-1ubuntu" and apt-cache show democracyplayer has "Origin: Ubuntu", so probably not.) In Add/Remove Applications, if I try and untick Democracy Player, I get the following popup error dialog: Democracy TV cannot be installed on your computer type (i386) Either the application requires special hardware features or the vendor decided to not support your computer type. [Bug 56436] Re: Doesn't show up in gnome-screensaver list
The fix did not make it into Edgy. You have to mv /usr/share/gnome-screensaver/themes/electricsheep.desktop /usr/share/applications/screensavers/electricsheep.desktop Also, to fix bug #2379 you must edit /usr/share/applications/screensavers/electricsheep.desktop Change the line: Exec=electricsheep --root 1 to Exec=electricsheep --root 1 --zoom 1 After all this it likely still won't work due to bug #5823. [Bug 35217] Re: no indication when login fails due to lack of disk space
A way to log in must be provided anyway, I don't think it is acceptable for all ubuntu users to be able to log in inside a virtual console and type commands to remove files - at least, my mother would not be able to do so but she's able to use a graphical interface. We should identify what files must be necessarily created in order to log in and mount a ramfs ad-hoc for those files. Or the free disk space reserved to root could be perhaps used for the purpose (by writing some setuid program, but this would perhaps create more problems than it would solve). The priority of this bug should be raised: if my disk is full, I can't log in (at least in the GUI) so how do I delete files? This is similar to nautilus-cd-burner not burning on the fly: I decide to write my files to DVD since I am running out of disk space, and I can't write files to DVD since I am running out of disk space. Not willing to be polemic in any case :) just want to point out that this is an important bug. -- no indication when login fails due to lack of disk space https://launchpad.net/bugs/35217 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That's why you're not prompted to sign it again. Diego, I realize that it is a minor textual update and that my signature is not necessary: As noted in my Q, I wanted to test if this bug (39547) had been resolved, since a) it is marked as 'Fix Released', and b) there have been no updates recently to suggest that the fix "took". I agree that it is not necessary for me to re-sign; refer to my comments in https://launchpad.net/products/launchpad/+bug/3952/comments/13 However, I would suggest that the lack of indication to this effect is itself a bug! The page that indicates I've signed the CoC indicates that a new CoC is available, and gives me a URL to 'read or sign new version', but then does not give me any opportunity to do so. This is very confusing (I can read it, I can download, where's the upload button?), hence my Q. There are really only 3 correct options: 1) the "congrats, you've signed the CoC page" should say "There is a new CoC, but the changes are editorial only, you do not need to re-sign. Click here to review the changes for your own peace of mind"; 2) the "read and sign new version" page can say "changes are editorial only, you do not need to re-sign. Click here to review the changes for your own peace of mind"; or 3) the user can be allowed to sign the new version, for their own peace of mind. [Bug 74081] Re: Crashed on attempting to select a section of the track
Matthew, Can you have a try of this again and see whether it's repeatable? Useful information here would be: Does it always crash when you select an area of that imported mp3? Does it crash when you select *any* area of that imported mp3, or is it only when selecting a specific area? If it happens every time, can you try "cutting out" a bit of that mp3 (with Jokosher if possible, or maybe with audacity or mp3splt if Jokosher always crashes) and seeing if Jokosher still crashes when selecting a bit of the "cut down" version? If it always happens, it'd be very useful to us to have the mp3 in question for testing, too. Are you running Jokosher 0.1 (installed from the Ubuntu repositories)? If you could test whether Jokosher 0.2 (available from http://www.jokosher.org/download ) has the same problem, that'd also be really useful. ** Changed in: jokosher (Ubuntu) Assignee: davmor2 => (unassigned) Status: In Progress => Needs Info -- Crashed on attempting to select a section of the track https://launchpad.net/bugs/74081 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
