[Bug 82906] Trashbin stays full
Public bug reported: Hello, since about 2 weeks I have a minor problem with Ubuntu Edgy Eft with Gnome: The trashbin icon on the panel always shows a full trashbin. If I mouse over the icon it says 2 items in Trash but when I open the trashbin it seems to be empty. Even if I switch show hidden files on or by ls -la I do not find anything in the trashbin. Deleting the whole trashbin by rm -rf /home/andre/.Trash deletes the trashbin but the icon stays the same. The only way to see an empty trash on the panel is by removing the trashbin from the panel and putting it back afterwards. Then the trashbin is empty until it is used again. A crash dump is a file that has useful information about the crash and the OS environment. So usually when a Ubuntu program crashes then a tool called apport intercepts the crash and instructs the user on how to proceed to report the crash (that was the window you saw when firefox crashed). I can confirm this bug on HP/Compaq nx6125 running Dapper with latest patches. This laptop has a Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] wireless adapter that has been configured with ndiswrapper. Whenever my wife and I are visiting our inlaws who have an unprotected WLAN in their house the laptop will refuse to connect to the internet. The wireless indicator is on suggesting that the connection has been achieved, but the network-manager icon on the upper right corner of the screen says no connection has been established. Also the WLAN does not show up on the network-manager menu. Connection can be achieved when the following commands are given: sudo ifconfig eth1 up sudo dhclient eth1 After this the connection works, although network-manager still doesn't seem to be aware of it (the WLAN is still not in the menu, and the state is disconnected). Thanks for the reply. I`m using the default Ubuntu (Feisty) ATI driver (card is a Radeon X600, Acer TravelMate 4100 laptop). The problem was occurring in bog-standard GNOME after start up. Interestingly, since applying a bunch of patches last night and a cold start today (I keep up to date with Feisty updates, knowing it is a development build), instead of the immediate crashes, the GNOME splash now lists loading the panel 7 or 8 times on login, but does not crash; I just receive I`ve detected a panel already running. Please be aware that the gstreomer profile setting here is a factor of 10 less than the values you would enter to oggenc (e.g. -q 5 on oggenc is the same thing as 0.5 on the gstreamer pipeline). I think the web-development toolbar wasn't active at that moment, because of the upgrade of Firefox it disappeared. The others, according to the add-ons page: - Aptana Debugger service 0.2.7.13370 (not used it) - DOM inspector - Firebug (unknown version, updated it afterwards, I guess) - Flashblock 1.5.2 - Master Password Timeout 0.2.5 - Session Manager 0.5.3.1 - Tab Mix Plus 0.3.5.2 - User Agent Switcher 0.6.9 - ZoomFox 0.73 It's my personal opinion those extensions shouldn't make Firefox crash, because Firefox is made to be personalised, wasn't it? ;) apt-cache show flashplugin-nonfree says: Version: 9.0.21.78~ubuntu1~edgy1 Maintainer: Trevi [EMAIL PROTECTED] Filename: pool/edgy-seveas/backports/flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.21.78~ubuntu1~edgy1_i386.deb Java is the sun-java5-plugin, up2date version ( Version: 1.5.0-08-0ubuntu1) Hope this helps. -- Firefox crashed while browsing google https://launchpad.net/bugs/82622 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 81713] Re: sky2 hardware hung? flushing (System crash (reproduceable))
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 68338 *** I have a similar problem on a dapper system - *very* reproducable, whenever copying files from a gigabit host, takes about 5 minutes to hang. Ethernet interface is then unusuable, but machine stays stable. Problem still exists in 2.6.17-50, the latest kernel I've been able to find .deb files for. Trying the blacklist solution.. Well, the system still finds the card with that module blacklisted.. time will tell whether it locks or not, I've just started another attempt to copy all my mp3s from a server that is being retired to the machine in question (both have gig E cards, this has been a sure-fire way to get the machine incommunicado so far) -- sky2 hardware hung? flushing (System crash (reproduceable)) https://launchpad.net/bugs/81713 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 82927] feisty fawn no network connection
Public bug reported: feisty fawn herd 3 download 1 February 2007 After bootup there was a message about a crash, apparently add/remove program? Going on: Network manager icon on top line, right side just before speaker volume says: No Network Connection After booted from Live CD, ifconfig did not return an IP. Ping the gateway didn't work. Network DNS showed IP's from my gateway and from the DSL nameserver, so during boot CDLive did in fact get out on the internet. From terminal I issued: dhcp which then got an ip address, and ping the gateway worked. Firefox connected to ubuntu hence I'm writing this entry. Network Manager still says no connection which is not correct which is a bug since I'm making this entry through the connection. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- feisty fawn no network connection https://launchpad.net/bugs/82927 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
