[Bug 87244] Re: no r5xx support in radeon driver

2007-02-24 Thread Tom Kravanja
The bug report can be rejected or marked as wishlist. However, i think
that the problem isn't solvable by developers until ATI doesn't release
documentation.

I leave to the decision of what to do with this report to a member of
the Ubuntu QA.

Best regards

[Bug 87661] [apport] polytopes crashed with SIGILL in _mesa_x86_64_transform_points4_perspective()

2007-02-24 Thread TylerMD
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xscreensaver

Polytopes crashes every time I run it.

The first time:
In Herd 3, with xubuntu-desktop installed, I left the update manager running.
When came back and closed the polytopes screen saver entering my password it
crashed and left GTK "ugly". GTK apps looked like no "skin", like GTK for
windows with no skin at all. Ant Window decoration (xfwin) was color reversed.
It looked blue instead of yellow.

Note: the no-skin problem and the color-reverse problem occurred just
the first time.

[Bug 87551] Re: dosfsck crashes to copy/delete symbolic links

2007-02-24 Thread Onno Benschop
Thanks for your report. In order for us to determine the cause, I have a
few questions for you:

Can you tell us if the bug is reproducible, that is, can you make it
happen every time, or was it something that happened just once?

Also, what file-system was on your pen drive? I realise it would be FAT,
but which one, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32?

Do you know how it was mounted, that is, with vFAT, or with another
mount type?

When you reformatted your pen-drive, what format did you make it?

How big is the pen-drive?

How many files were on it at the time?

Can you provide us with the output to the following command by opening a
terminal:
   dpkg -l dosfstools

[Bug 87607] Re: gnome-session-properties /Sessions tool/ doesn't allow to autostart programs

2007-02-24 Thread Tom Kravanja
The problem is that the directory .config/autostart/ is owned by root
and not by your user. Try to change the owner with the command chown.
Otherwise, launch gnome-session-properties as root and retry.

I don't think is a bug though.

Regards.

[Bug 87655] GNOME uses the phrase "click here"

2007-02-24 Thread Noah Slater
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

The GNOME desktop uses the phrase "click here" as a call to action.

For an example, hover your mouse over the "show desktop" button on the
bottom panel.

This is bad for accessibility because it alienates anyone who does not
use a pointing device which requires "clicking" to activate. Some people
use the keyboard to navigate and some people may use voice commands.
Ubuntu could be installed on a device without a mouse, say, a Pocket PC
for example. In these environments the "click" metaphor breaks down.

The words "click here" should be replaced with "select" which is much
more device independant.

[Bug 85740] Re: Title should be "Control Centre" in British translation

2007-02-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
What do you want to know? Translations are removed from the packages to
be shipped with language packs. The languages packs for feisty have not
been built yet for technical reasons from rosetta, which means you are
using a version where new strings are not translated and then have the
american spelling used. Language packs will be updated before feisty and
then you will get british translations. If you don't want to use a non-
correctly translated version you can use dapper or edgy which are
correctly translated

[Bug 86233] Re: nautilus uses filenames over network (for speed reason)

2007-02-24 Thread markba
Currently, my real problem seams to be this: I cannot open a (bash) file
with gedit through Nautilus.

First try: double click. Because Nautilus has no knowledge about the
file type, this is the error message I get: "Cannot open
ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/usr/local/sbin/3a-transcode: No application
suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind
of file.". This can be considered as normal because of the unknown file
type.

Second try. Make a file association to this file: Right click,
Properties, Open with, Add, Select 'Text editor'. This does not work
because the selected program cannot be added, probably because the file
type is unknown. Error message: "Could not add application to the
application database". This can be considered as normal because of the
unknown file type.

Third try. Right click, Open with another application, select 'Text
Editor'. I get the same message as when I'm trying to change the file
association (see second try): "Could not add application to the
application database". This cannot be considered as normal because I
want to open the file only *this* time with the selected application.

Fourth try. Open gedit, browse to the ssh'ed file and open it. This
works.

My guess that this is my problem: just because Nautilus cannot add the
application due to the unknown filetype, blocks me from opening a file
with a application of my choice. Ofcourse, if SSH gives the correct file
types back, this problem is not likely to exist.

Note. This optimization which you mention is for SSH connections only?
When connecting through Samba (static mount of gnome-vfs), file types
are (normally) read.

[Bug 87654] [UVF exception request] interchange 5.4.2-1

2007-02-24 Thread Adrien Cunin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: interchange

According to the upstream changelog, 5.4.2 is mainly a bug fix release.
It's in Debian, so we just need to sync. There are also some bugs fixed in the
packaging.

Changelog:

interchange (5.4.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * new upstream release
  * require versions of Perl and DBI which allow to run Interchange
without (known) crashes with threaded Perl (Closes: #339335, thanks to
Henrik Holmboe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>)
  * removed notice about threaded Perl and no longer set MV_GETPPID_BROKEN
  * fixed stupid typo in postinst script of interchange package which
caused creation of a directory named 775 (Closes: #404391, thanks to
Filippo Giunchedi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for the report and the
investigation)
  * removed Business::UPS manual page to avoid conflicts with
libbusiness-ups-perl (Closes: #404022, thanks to Michael Ablassmeier
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for the report)
  * preserve debug value in settings.cfg
  * updated Swedish translation of Debconf templates (Closes: #375916,
thanks to Daniel Nylander <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>)
  * updated Czech translation of Debconf templates (Closes: #391541, thanks
to Martin Sín <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>)

[Bug 62685] Re: [Edgy regression] Hostap driver for PRISM2 wifi card not working any more

2007-02-24 Thread nuku
To find the pcmcia IDs you can "lspcmcia -v" (in pcmciautils). Given you have a
prism based and not a hermes based card, it should be possible to add the IDs
to drivers/net/wireless/hostap/hostap_cs.c. Search for PCMCIA_DEVICE_MANF_CARD.
You may want to check if the IDs are already present and are refined by a
string based match (.._PROD_ID1..) as those IDs are conflicting with other
incompatible cards with the same ID and finally add the appropiate full match
(from your "lspcmcia -v" output).

[Bug 66350] Re: Firefox uses high CPU for extended periods of time when spawning a new window with many tabs already open

2007-02-24 Thread Joshua Wise
I can't seem to repro it now by hitting C-n while I have 9 tabs open in
one window and the download manager open.

I am currently using a Firefox that reports itself as Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U;
Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20060601 Firefox/2.0.0.1 (Ubuntu-edgy).
I am using Flash 9 (not sure which minor version).
I'm not sure which Java package I have installed, but I know that I have one.
I have installed: Firesomething 1.7.0 (disabled since an upgrade), Greasemonkey
0.6.7.20070131.0, Live HTTP Headers 0.13.1, Long Titles 1.2.4, Nightly Tester
Tools 1.2.1, Restart Firefox 0.3, Sage 1.3.10, SomethingAwful Last Read
1.15.1917, SwitchProxy 1.4 (disabled since an upgrade), and VideoDownloader
1.1.1.

I will post another comment with a test case if I can reproduce the bug
in the future.

2007-02-24 Thread Cristian Aravena Romero
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't
fix it, because your description doesn't yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by
the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" and attach the resulting file
"dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the
resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-
related bug reports is available at [WWW]
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelProblems . Thanks in advance!

[Bug 87640] Re: "Add/Remove Applications" does not find Totem codecs

2007-02-24 Thread Duncan Lithgow
Five minutes later, after installing "GStreamer ffmpeg video plugin" I
cannot reproduce this bug. Could someone else try this on a fresh
system?

** Description changed:

If Totem (2.17.92) is missing a codec, it gives a message like:

"The playback of this movie requires a MPEG-2 System Stream demuxer
  plugin which is not installed."

But if I search "Add/Remove Applications" (no 'about' available, Feisty
Herd 4) for "MPEG-2" or "MPEG-2 System Stream demuxer plugin" I get
"There is no matching application available." which we know is not true
  - so the problem is the search function not responding well to Totems
- message.
+ message. (It should return "GStreamer ffmpeg video plugin" and others)

Could this regarded as a "collaboration" bug?

2007-02-24 Thread Adam Wendt
Thanks for your bug report. Are you still experiencing this problem?

If so can you please give us information on version of Ubuntu and vsftpd
package plus any other information that you deem important.

I was unable to confirm this bug with version 2.0.4-0ubuntu5 on Edgy

[Bug 87599] Re: [apport] apport-qt crashed with UnicodeDecodeError in ui_present_crash()

2007-02-24 Thread Cristian Aravena Romero
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't
fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You
may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the
problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
 Thanks!
