[Bug 111191] Re: ThinkPad R51 crash(?) when re-opening the lid

This bug report is being closed due to your last comment regarding this
being fixed with a configuration change. There was no resume option set
in your menu.lst file and subsequently the system was not resuming your
saved state. By updating your menu.lst file we were able to resolve
this issue. Thanks for taking the time to submit a bug and feel free to
submit any future issues you may have.

[Bug 91759] Re: OpenOffice Spreadsheet hangs when opening Excel 2003 file saved as XML

2007-05-16 Thread Brian Murray
Reproduced using openoffice.org version 2.2.0-1ubuntu3. An automatic
crash report was generated and retraced in bug 115115. However, the
retrace doesn't seem particularly useful. It would be helpful if you
could try and reproduce this issue with the upstream version of
OpenOffice.org. Thanks!

Re: [Bug 34590] Re: DRI not Automatically Enabled for ATI Rage Mobility P/M - Mach64

2007-05-16 Thread audiophyl
the version you are compiling is geared towards either x.org 6.9 or 7.0, the
newer versions (used in 7.04 and such) are for x.org 7.2. you could search
around at freedesktop.org for a list of things that have changed in the
architecture, as well as specifics for the mach64 driver.

But finally I could compile the driver mach64-20060403-linux.i386 and
 now I have the 3D acceleration :)

anyway, which is the diffrence between this version of the driver and
 the other?

[Bug 83594] Re: [feisty]azureus wont open after update of java

2007-05-16 Thread Pascal Vandeputte
I think Thangalin hits the nail on the head. Apart from sometimes not
being able to start Azureus, and needing to restart it often because of
stalls, running it from the CLI and viewing the debug output was rather
worrying as well (many exceptions being thrown). This fixed it perfectly
for me (solid transfers, zero exceptions):

Install Sun JRE (I have excellent results with 1.5):
$ sudo apt-get install sun-java5-jre

Start Azureus with the Sun java binaries as follows:
$ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.11 azureus

(if you have a look at the /usr/bin/azureus script you see that
$JAVA_HOME/bin/java will be used if $JAVA_HOME is set)

I also used the Azureus2.jar file from the 2.5.0.4 download, but I feel
this didn't matter much.

[Bug 115116] Deleted folder in Thunderbird appears empty even when I've just deleted an email

2007-05-16 Thread Laura Cowen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I accidentally deleted an email from my IMAP Inbox so I went to retrieve
it from my Deleted folder (I have two Deleted folders for some reason -
maybe from previous account configurations). When I clicked each Deleted
folder, the folder displayed no content. Other folders, like Junk and
other personal sub-folders, display correctly.

I've tried restarting Thunderbird but it made no difference. I'm running
Feisty and I have no updates waiting to be installed.

[Bug 115096] Re: HAL 0.5.9 causes delay with Gnome power manager applet

2007-05-16 Thread kilou
Some other precision:

With HAL 0.5.9 and msi-laptop module loaded, there is a LCD brightness
slider in Gnome power manager applet (GPMA). However this slider doesn't
provide the expected effect when switching on battery/AC. I have to use
the 05-brightness.sh scripts (see previous post) to allow a correct LCD
screen brightness to be set when switching to battery/AC.

With HAL 0.5.9 but msi-laptop module not loaded, thers is no LCD
brightness slider in GPMA.

With HAL 0.5.8.1 no matter if msi-laptop module is loaded or not, thers
is no LCD brightness slider in GPMA.

I tried to remove the scripts/msi-laptop module and reload it and for
some reasons I cannot replicate the problem anymore.but the system
appears to be in the same state as before.

Can you positively isolate what causes a difference between black-screen

[Bug 114137] Re: Please sync thuban 1.2.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2007-05-16 Thread Emmet Hikory
New python-support is in gutsy, so this can be synchronised.

** Summary changed:

- New version Request - Thuban to 1.2.0-1 (from Debian Unstable)
+ Please sync thuban 1.2.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: thuban

- Can someone change the version of Thuban to be used in the next release
- of Ubuntu to be 1.2.0-1 please. This is currently in Debian Unstable.
+ Please sync thuban 1.2.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
+
+ Rationale:
+ New upstream version include new features
+ New Debian version builds against wxwidgets2.6, so changes for wx2.4
python2.4 are no longer required
+ New Debian version updated for new Python polcy
+ New Debian version compiles successfully on gutsy
+
+ Additional Debian changelog:
+ thuban (1.2.0-1) unstable; urgency=low
+
+ * New upstream release.
+ * Patchset updated.
+ * Policy bumped to 3.7.2 (no changes).
+ * Updated for current Python Policy by using python-support.
+

+0
+ 200
+
+ thuban (1.1.0-1) experimental; urgency=low
+
+ * New upstream release
+ - Drop gdalwarp.cpp patch, no longer applies
+ - Drop de.po patch, no longer useful
+ * Build with and use wxWidgets 2.6, which supports GTK 2
+ * SWIG hack to be removed when wxWidgets includes wxPython.h (#326440)
+ * Move bitmappath.patch into a dpatch (wasn't being applied)
+ * Actually install the manual page
+ * Use debian/compat instead of DH_COMPAT
+ * Remove nostrip checking, dh_strip does that
+ * Actually pass CFLAGS to setup.py
+ * Always use -Wall -g in CFLAGS
+ * Check for noopt and use -O0, otherwise use -O2
+ * Remove extraneous whitespace and comments in debian/rules
+ * Revamp debian/copyright information, inc. FSF address update
+ * Install create_epsg.py into the package
+ * Build and install the English and German manuals
+ * Ship the NEWS file, don't ship an extra copy of the dtd
+ * Some minor debian/ cleanups

[Bug 114919] Re: automount of USB disk does not work anymore after suspend to disk

2007-05-16 Thread zsquareplusc
running gnome-mount --device /dev/sdb1 does mount the device as
expected and it shows up in the block partitions applet and nautilus. i
can access the data as user, as expected. digging the packages that
depend on gnome-mount i found the gnome-volume-manager. now i see that
no process of that name is running. when i type gnome-volume-manager
in a console it is running again. and see its popping up the import
dialogs and nautilus folders again!

so my guess is that gnome-volume-manager crashes either on suspend (to
disk) or resume.

[Bug 5801] Re: (NVidia only) Wrong default and maximum resolution on widescreen monitor (stretched 1024x768) on GeForce 6200

2007-05-16 Thread Mark Reitblatt
Marked as won't fix upstream:
G80-based cards should be able to program the correct resolution on flat panels
with xf86-video-nv 1.99.1 and higher. This is not something we can implement
for earlier GPUs, so marking WONTFIX.

Doesn't make much sense, since the nvidia driver can do it, but that's
how it is for the time being.

[Bug 113622] Re: PPTP plugin for network manager sets wrong routing table entries

2007-05-16 Thread Craig Box
Cyril, please read http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-
diagnosis.phtml - and if you can't solve your problem, raise a new bug.

Kuropka: it's difficult because the Windows and Mac clients assume
you're connecting to a Windows server. The Linux client, based on PPP,
lets you connect to anything, with any options. If it defaulted to
Windows-friendly defaults, which my new version of the package does, it
would go a long way.

I am not sure why that host route is created, so will raise a bug
upstream with the author. He's been AFK for a while though so I'm not
sure what luck we may have.

[Bug 115122] Update manager crashed during upgrade and left no diagnostic information

2007-05-16 Thread Scott Severance
Public bug reported:

During my upgrade from Edgy to Feisty, the upgrade program that update-
manager crashed. It was in the process of installing packages, although
I wasn't watching it carefully enough to know which package was being
installed. All of a sudden the upgrade window vanished without a trace.
There was no error message, the exit status was 0, and and nothing was
printed to stdout.

This means that I don't think that it's possible to debug the crash.
There should be error messages when a program crashes.

If it's any help, when I re-ran update-manager, some package kept
causing a segfault with cupsys. I thought that it was the cupsys
package, but closer inspection revealed cupsys to be already installed
and upgraded.

Really though, this bug is more about the crash handling setup than my
specific crash.

[Bug 115123] Freeze checking contacts in Compose To field

2007-05-16 Thread Veloce
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When attempting to enter address in the To field of the compose
window, after three (or so) characters are entered, Evolution freezes
and must be force quit.

I assume it is attempting to check the contacts list; I am connected to
an MS Exchange server.

This does not occur every time. There does not seem to be any pattern.

[Bug 115127] When open a page, the component order is not correct

and you move the mouse over technical indicator button, its display the menu
behind the chart.
Other problem with the same characteristics is, when you select an option (ex.

Both problems are in Firefox 2.0.0.3 for Linux, but not in Firefox 2.0.0.3 for

important the upgrade program (that powers the GUI) is, but it should be
possible to resume where the crash happened.

[Bug 113532] Re: kernel 2.6.20 disk write performance much slower than 2.6.17

2007-05-16 Thread Daniel Swarbrick
Thanks for the information and graphs Stephan. I'm glad I'm not the only
one seeing these problems. There's also a thread on VMware's forums
about this:

http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=83459

So is this purely a kernel issue, that should be apparent when running
loads other than VMware? Or does it only surface when running
VMware? I'm not an expert, but I expect the vmmon module hooks in
fairly deep into the kernel. I suppose it's possible that if VMware
haven't done much testing against recent kernels, their module(s) may be
the cause of these slowdowns.

So far I haven't really noticed any problems running Feisty and non-
VMware loads, but it's possible I'm just not exposing it to a high
enough thread workload.

Re: [Bug 103121] Re: audacity is missing input selection toolbar

2007-05-16 Thread vhfdxer
Hope this can help...
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Linux-specific_issues
*Linux-specific issues*

   - *Input Selector and Input/Output level sliders missing*

If Audacity's entire Mixer Toolbar (i.e. the input and input level sliders
and the input selector) is missing, this usually means that the version of
Audacity you have installed has been built without PortMixer support. This
could be because your Audacity version was built wrong, or because it's
using an (experimental) v19 version of PortAudio
http://www.portaudio.com/which hasn't got PortMixer support. If you
click on Help
About in Audacity, you should find the version of PortAudio that has been
used and a list of which libraries were enabled at build time.

To enable Audacity's Mixer Toolbar, you can either install from a package
which has PortAudio v18 or compile Audacity from the stable source
codehttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/latest/audacity-src/audacity-src-1.2.6.tar.gzusing
PortAudio v18. For instructions on using the source code to compile
Audacity, see
CompilingAudacityForBeginnershttp://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CompilingAudacityForBeginners.

If you want to compile Audacity with PortAudio v19 (which gives native ALSA
support) and also want to have a Mixer Toolbar, you must use the unstable
1.3.2 version of Audacity. There may not be a 1.3.2 package yet for your
particular distribution, but you can compile Audacity from the unstable
source
codehttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/beta/audacity-src/audacity-src-1.3.2.tar.gz.
If you want native ALSA support in Audacity 1.2.6, you could compile it with
PortAudio v19, but this is no longer supported, and means you will have to
choose your input source and the input/output levels in ALSAmixer. If you
can select sources in the Mixer Toolbar selector but cannot record, or you
don't see the input sources you were expecting, you could try going to
ALSAmixer and select the source you require there.

[Bug 113444] Re: Single double quotes, tildys, etc. need to type twice.

2007-05-16 Thread cnobile
No there is no change on either machine.

However, I've been thinking. I used, as I mentioned above, the alternate
CD to install Feisty and I did the same exact things with both machines.
I found the process for determining the keyboard type to be a bit
confusing. It asks if various international characters exist on your
keyboard and I answered no to all except the last one which was ('').
Then it said that my keyboard seems to be a 'us-en' which I thought was
correct so I never gave this another thought. I did think this to be a
little unusual since I would expect a double quote to be on almost any
keyboard. Could I have made the wrong choice here?

[Bug 53976] Re: 'strace -ff -o filename' doesn't give a pid of first process

2007-05-16 Thread Micah Cowan
It may be more that there is little need to know the initial process's
pid, since unlike the children, you don't need to find its place in the
order of things.

Regardless, it doesn't match documentation, so either the docs or the
behavior ought to be fixed.

always happens the 2nd time I logout of KDE. Killing X from a VT, then
