Reproduced using openoffice.org version 2.2.0-1ubuntu3. An automatic crash report was generated and retraced in bug 115115. However, the retrace doesn't seem particularly useful. Re: [Bug 34590] Re: DRI not Automatically Enabled for ATI Rage Mobility P/M - Mach64
the version you are compiling is geared towards either x.org 6.9 or 7.0, the newer versions (used in 7.04 and such) are for x.org 7.2. you could search around at freedesktop.org for a list of things that have changed in the architecture, as well as specifics for the mach64 driver. -Philip On 5/16/07, Alvaro Pintos Pena [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thanks audiophyl! [Bug 83594] Re: [feisty]azureus wont open after update of java
I think Thangalin hits the nail on the head. Apart from sometimes not being able to start Azureus, and needing to restart it often because of stalls, running it from the CLI and viewing the debug output was rather worrying as well (many exceptions being thrown). This fixed it perfectly for me (solid transfers, zero exceptions): Install Sun JRE (I have excellent results with 1.5): $ sudo apt-get install sun-java5-jre Start Azureus with the Sun java binaries as follows: $ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.11 azureus (if you have a look at the /usr/bin/azureus script you see that $JAVA_HOME/bin/java will be used if $JAVA_HOME is set) I also used the Azureus2.jar file from the 2.5.0.4 download, but I feel this didn't matter much. -- [feisty]azureus wont open after update of java https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/83594 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 115096] Re: HAL 0.5.9 causes delay with Gnome power manager applet
Some other precision: With HAL 0.5.9 and msi-laptop module loaded, there is a LCD brightness slider in Gnome power manager applet (GPMA). However this slider doesn't provide the expected effect when switching on battery/AC. I have to use the 05-brightness.sh scripts (see previous post) to allow a correct LCD screen brightness to be set when switching to battery/AC. With HAL 0.5.9 but msi-laptop module not loaded, thers is no LCD brightness slider in GPMA. With HAL 0.5.8.1 no matter if msi-laptop module is loaded or not, thers is no LCD brightness slider in GPMA. I tried to remove the scripts/msi-laptop module and reload it and for some reasons I cannot replicate the problem anymore.but the system appears to be in the same state as before. -- HAL 0.5.9 causes delay with Gnome power manager applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

running gnome-mount --device /dev/sdb1 does mount the device as expected and it shows up in the block partitions applet and nautilus. i can access the data as user, as expected. digging the packages that depend on gnome-mount i found the gnome-volume-manager. now i see that no process of that name is running. when i type gnome-volume-manager in a console it is running again. and see its popping up the import dialogs and nautilus folders again! so my guess is that gnome-volume-manager crashes either on suspend (to disk) or resume. ** Changed in: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None = gnome-volume-manager -- automount of USB disk does not work anymore after suspend to disk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114919 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Cyril, please read http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto- diagnosis.phtml - and if you can't solve your problem, raise a new bug. Kuropka: it's difficult because the Windows and Mac clients assume you're connecting to a Windows server. The Linux client, based on PPP, lets you connect to anything, with any options. If it defaulted to Windows-friendly defaults, which my new version of the package does, it would go a long way. [Bug 115122] Update manager crashed during upgrade and left no diagnostic information
Public bug reported: During my upgrade from Edgy to Feisty, the upgrade program that update- manager crashed. It was in the process of installing packages, although I wasn't watching it carefully enough to know which package was being installed. All of a sudden the upgrade window vanished without a trace. There was no error message, the exit status was 0, and and nothing was printed to stdout. This means that I don't think that it's possible to debug the crash. There should be error messages when a program crashes. If it's any help, when I re-ran update-manager, some package kept causing a segfault with cupsys. I thought that it was the cupsys package, but closer inspection revealed cupsys to be already installed and upgraded. [Bug 113532] Re: kernel 2.6.20 disk write performance much slower than 2.6.17
Thanks for the information and graphs Stephan. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing these problems. There's also a thread on VMware's forums about this: http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=83459 So is this purely a kernel issue, that should be apparent when running loads other than VMware? Or does it only surface when running VMware? I'm not an expert, but I expect the vmmon module hooks in fairly deep into the kernel. I suppose it's possible that if VMware haven't done much testing against recent kernels, their module(s) may be the cause of these slowdowns. So far I haven't really noticed any problems running Feisty and non- VMware loads, but it's possible I'm just not exposing it to a high enough thread workload. -- kernel 2.6.20 disk write performance much slower than 2.6.17 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113532 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 103121] Re: audacity is missing input selection toolbar
Hope this can help... http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Linux-specific_issues *Linux-specific issues* - *Input Selector and Input/Output level sliders missing* If Audacity's entire Mixer Toolbar (i.e. the input and input level sliders and the input selector) is missing, this usually means that the version of Audacity you have installed has been built without PortMixer support. This could be because your Audacity version was built wrong, or because it's using an (experimental) v19 version of PortAudio http://www.portaudio.com/which hasn't got PortMixer support. If you click on Help About in Audacity, you should find the version of PortAudio that has been used and a list of which libraries were enabled at build time. To enable Audacity's Mixer Toolbar, you can either install from a package which has PortAudio v18 or compile Audacity from the stable source codehttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/latest/audacity-src/audacity-src-1.2.6.tar.gzusing PortAudio v18. For instructions on using the source code to compile Audacity, see CompilingAudacityForBeginnershttp://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CompilingAudacityForBeginners. If you want to compile Audacity with PortAudio v19 (which gives native ALSA support) and also want to have a Mixer Toolbar, you must use the unstable 1.3.2 version of Audacity. There may not be a 1.3.2 package yet for your particular distribution, but you can compile Audacity from the unstable source codehttp://audacity.sourceforge.net/beta/audacity-src/audacity-src-1.3.2.tar.gz. If you want native ALSA support in Audacity 1.2.6, you could compile it with PortAudio v19, but this is no longer supported, and means you will have to choose your input source and the input/output levels in ALSAmixer. If you can select sources in the Mixer Toolbar selector but cannot record, or you don't see the input sources you were expecting, you could try going to ALSAmixer and select the source you require there. -- audacity is missing input selection toolbar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103121 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 113444] Re: Single double quotes, tildys, etc. need to type twice.
No there is no change on either machine. However, I've been thinking. I used, as I mentioned above, the alternate CD to install Feisty and I did the same exact things with both machines. I found the process for determining the keyboard type to be a bit confusing. It asks if various international characters exist on your keyboard and I answered no to all except the last one which was (''). Then it said that my keyboard seems to be a 'us-en' which I thought was correct so I never gave this another thought. I did think this to be a little unusual since I would expect a double quote to be on almost any keyboard. [Bug 53976] Re: 'strace -ff -o filename' doesn't give a pid of first process
It may be more that there is little need to know the initial process's pid, since unlike the children, you don't need to find its place in the order of things. Regardless, it doesn't match documentation, so either the docs or the behavior ought to be fixed. ** Bug watch added: SourceForge.net Tracker #1528125 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1528125 ** Also affects: strace (upstream) via http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=1528125 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: strace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- 'strace -ff -o filename' doesn't give a pid of first process https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53976 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 112238] Re: mga driver no longer will display 1600x1200
I have a related issue that may be related to the problem. After logging out of my account the second time X crashes. This is very consistent it always happens the 2nd time I logout of KDE. Killing X from a VT, then switching back to the login with alt/ctl F7 locks up the display, mouse and keyboard. The only thing I can do is login from my laptop and do a (shutdown -r now) to fix it. -- mga driver no longer will display 1600x1200 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112238 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
