[Bug 144239] Re: bug wifi rt61 gutsy
Hi, I have fixed my problem. First, I must state that I upgraded from feisty. It was not a new installation. I deleted the directory .gconf/system/networking from my home directory. This is what seemed to be causing the problem. And then make sure the /etc/network/interfaces file has auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface wlan0 inet static #using a static address address 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 wireless-key s:your password for wep key (ascii) wireless-essid your network essid name auto wlan0 You still get the rc80211_simple errors as above in dmesg but the ra61pci module is still loaded. -- bug wifi rt61 gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144239 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147737] Re: ata_piix does not get loaded from initrd
Hi! I was able to resolve the issue by lokking at one of my old bugs (bug #75814). I have added "blacklist ata_piix" to /etc/modprobe.d/localhost because with kernel 2.6.20 it delayed booting. [Bug 138718] Re: gdm greeter crashes when X is using vesa driver
Hmm... I just took a more through look at the code, and it seems that the code where gdm crashes should only be executed if XineramaIsActive returns true. So as far as I can tell, one of three things causes the problem: 1) XineramaIsActive falsely returns TRUE, even though no Xinerama support is available. 2) XineramaIsActive fails, but for some reason the ignore_error_handler doesn't get called, so x_error_occured is still false when we test it. 3) Some sort of compiler error. Of these three posibilities, I think that 1) is the most likely one. However why XineramaIsActive should be affected by the refresh rate range set in xorg.conf, is beyond my imagination. [Bug 73211] Re: MonoUralic contains incorrect encoding information
Please note, that the dagger - modified Ka display is because of the modified CP1251 encoding. In the original CP1251 encoding it is indeed a dagger symbol. However, the CP1251 version we are dealing with has replaced some glyphs with Uralic ones. I have packaged a testing version of MonoUralic. http://ppa.launchpad.net/arnegoetje/ubuntu/pool/main/t/ttf-uralic/ The package contains only the MonoUralic font in two flavors: one with the modified CP1251 encoding, the other with the correct ISO10646 encoding. I'm afraid, because the CP1251 encoding was tempered with, we have no choice than to provide 2 font flavors, one for each encoding. So, if this testing package works for you, I'll modify the remaining fonts accordingly. Also, I have prepared the same fonts as TTC file (Truetype Collection), which should save some space on users' systems. If the above package works for you, I will create a new one with the TTC file enabled instead. It will need to be tested with as many applications as possible, weather or not they can use both font flavors out of the TTC. Are you willing to test that also? Otherwise, if the TTC doesn't work as expected, we'll need to ship two separate fonts, like we have now. -- MonoUralic contains incorrect encoding information https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/73211 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: This bug affects openoffice.org-calc 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu2 running under Kubuntu 7.10 Beta (amd64). [Bug 147961] battery monitor shows charge decreasing while laptop is plugged in
Public bug reported: [7.10 beta] Applets (as well as /proc/acpi/battery/bat0) that monitor battery charge show a steady reduction in charge even while the laptop is plugged in. Once the charge drops to a very low percentage, possibly 0% it spontaneously returns to 100%, once this happens the reduction in charge stops. It returns once the power cord is unplugged and plugged in again, the battery life reported steadily decreasing again. It is as though even the battery really is charging, and the system reports that it is charging, the estimated charge reduces as though the system were unplugged. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- battery monitor shows charge decreasing while laptop is plugged in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 147589] Re: Miro fails to play films when using default renderer (gstreamer works OK)
While I'd love to enable the gstreamer renderer by default, it's not going to happen for Gutsy - there's just not enough time to test it. I'll probably do this for Hardy. Miro does *not* depend on libxine1-ffmpeg. Many videos should play without it, and ffmpeg (like almost all decoders) has patent issues around it, so it's quite reasonable that people may wish to install miro without libxine1-ffmpeg. The miro packages currently Recommend: libxine1-ffmpeg, which is the highest level of "you probably want this" available that isn't a hard dependency. Can you test if installing libxine1-ffmpeg allows miro to play the streams you have tested? If it can't, then there's an actual bug here. [Bug 85790] Re: Documentation for pam_unix incorrect for "max=" option
Fixed for Gutsy. >From pam's NEWS file (version 0.99.7.1-5ubuntu1, which has just entered Gutsy): [...] The password length 'max' option has also been deprecated in this version because it was never written to work as suggested in the documentation. If you are using pam_unix but are not using the default /etc/pam.d/common-password file, you should remove any old max= options to pam_unix from your config as this option will be considered an error in future versions of pam. ** Changed in: pam (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- Documentation for pam_unix incorrect for "max=" option https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 93062] Re: network-manager regularly loses connection
Connection was lost at around 1:36, and a key dialog was displayed. From the log it seems as if connection was at first briefly regained without the "need" for a new key, but then NM hanged its opinion. Log is attached. ** Attachment added: "daemon.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9653981/daemon.log -- network-manager regularly loses connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/93062 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
