[Bug 152799] DVD reading problem
Public bug reported: I've got at home a DVD for installing my favourite game WoW. Blizzard seems to have done something special to the DVD for having Windows and Mac installer on same DVD and only showing the necessary to the user. However on my old Ubuntu 7.04 I can see the whole DVD content while on my 7.10 RC I only can see the part thought for Mac. This is bad because it didn't show me the files necessary for Win/Wine installation of the game. [Bug 152791] Re: Kontact pops up Resource Selection dialog with two identical entries
OK. I found out what the problem is. In the file ~/.kde/share/config/kresources/calendar/stdrc, the offending line was: ResourceKeys=N5eXaSIgR8,N5eXaSIgR8 where N5eXaSIgR8 was, of course, the key for the Standard resource. Removing the repetition of the resource key seems to do the trick. Restarting the reminder daemon does not result in this entry being overwritten. If I rm the stdrc file and restart kontact, it does create two profiles, but different ones (i.e. both are not standard) However, this should still be considered a bug since by default Kontact creates a bogus entry for ResourceKeys. -- Kontact pops up Resource Selection dialog with two identical entries https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152791 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152784] Mouse wheel scroll very slow
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vim-gnome In the gtk gui of vim you can scroll the window using the mouse wheel. Scrolling is fast and smooth. However, if you open the "open file" window and then close it (even without selecting anything) then scrolling becomes much slower, to a degree that it's irritating. I'm using the latest gutsy beta. vim-gnome version is 1:7.1-056+2ubuntu2. Steps to reproduce the problem - execute gvim - write a big chunk of text (eg write a line and then press "yy" and "100p") - scroll with the mouse wheel. it's fast and smooth - open the "edit file" window by selecting "file/open..." from the menu or give the ":browse e" command - press cancel to close the window - scroll again. now it's much slower. The problem is always reproducable. I use an empty .vimrc. I have an ATI X1600 AGP 256 Mb card, with two screens attached (one AOC 7nlr and one Compaq V50, both CRT) Now, I've recently did a fresh install of Gusty. [Bug 152773] Task bar is shared by all desktops
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz I am running Gutsy's Compiz with Xgl and I have the desktop in cube configuration. When I rotate the cube with my mouse to find the face that contains a program I'm looking for, the task bar for each desktop is the same as the desktop I was on when the rotate began. This means that if the window I am looking for is hidden behind another one on a different desktop, I have to flip through to every desktop in order to find it. In order to fix the bug, create a different instance of the window list for each face of the cube and show them on the correct positions. This will make finding windows much easier and will improve usability. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Task bar is shared by all desktops https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This happened to me also. Make sure that the mount point (/media/hda7) actually exists (I had to create new mount points for both of my NTFS drives after upgrading to Gutsy) and try the force option. I also added the appropriate information to /etc/fstab, as that file seems to have been re-created during the upgrade to Gutsy without re- adding my NTFS drives. In any case, it worked and I am able to access the drives with no problems. -- Error mounting NTFS volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151521 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 152769] clock runs slow - seconds change every 4-7 seconds
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp Using Feisty c/w latest upgrades running in Virtual Machine Ware on Dell Inspiron 5315 c/w Vista. Clock v.2-18-1 Two problems: a) In 'manual' mode time shown on clock lags behind actual time. To correct the clock reading I use the time adjustment window and manually synchronize the time to the correct time. I have noted that the seconds window changes only every 4 to 7 actual seconds- - for example, if I have just synchronized the time and the seconds read '23' they will change to '24' only after an interval of 4 to 7 actual seconds. Consequently the clock always reads a time that is lagged behind the actual time. b) auto synchronization of the time doesn't work at all - the appropriate time zone (America/Vancouver) and internet servers (clock.tricity.wsu.edu) are chosen but the synchronization never occurs. The clock simply stops at whatever time was shown immediately after the reading when the 'adjust time and date' window was accessed. I have tried various internet servers with the same lack of results. Auto synchronization doesn't ever seem to occur. [Bug 152772] Random system freeze if multicore processing is enabled on Samsung R20 with Intel Core Duo T2350
Public bug reported: I've installed Feisty on my Samsung R20 and experienced random system freezes. Sometimes the freeze happens a few minutes after startup and sometimes the system runs for a few hours without any problem until the crash. The system halts and stays completely unresponsive. If sound is active at the time of the freeze the last few milliseconds of the sound are repeated over and over again. I tried to ping the freezed system and i tried to log in via SSH from another machine but got no response. Memtest didn't show any errors and cpu temperature was normal (TZ00: 50° celsius, TZ01: 27° celsius). Nothing suspicious was written to the logfiles in /var/log at the time of the freeze. I upgraded to Gutsy to see if this would solve the issue but the new kernel (2.6.22-14) wouldn't boot so I'm using Gutsy with the Feisty kernel (2.6.20-16). The system still randomly crashed in this environment. Disabling multicore support in my system's BIOS seems to have solved my problem. I even can boot with the new 2.6.22-14-kernel now but I'm still using the 2.6.20-16-kernel because wifi isn't working with the new kernel. I've not used the patch provided in the upstream report (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1807476&group_id=14653&atid=114653). [Bug 151938] Re: gutsy kernel is causing data-loss.somehow related to SATA (media-error)
I too have this problem. My English is not very good i hope you will understand My old Seagate ST3250820AS (xfs) started to fail, so i ran xfs_repair -L, i could not finish because of I/O errors, so I brought new disk (Seagate-Maxtor STM3250310AS) and run: dd_rescue -v /dev/sde1 /dev/sdd1 After that i managed to rescue all of my data. Than I formated old disk into ext3, and copy all of my data to that disk (just so i have backup). After just one day again same errors, but this time on brand new disk! I thought that problem is in XFS, so i formated New disk into ext3, and copy all data from old disk to new with cp -a. This did not end nicely, because allot of I/O errors. OK, I said, i will clone Old disk to New with dd, so i did that. But if i run fsck.ext3 on old disk it finishes without errors, but on new disk there is allot of errors. Shouldn't cloned disk need to be identical? Motherboard is Abit NF7-S (RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. [Bug 152764] [Gutsy rc] When Compiz Fusion is activated, no windows can be moved

[Bug 116326] Works using method c for me
I have a toshiba A205-4777. I using method C from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gutsy_Intel_HD_Audio_Controller and almost everything works. The internal and front mics work and the headphone sense kinda works. The sound is muted from the speakers when I insert the headphones, but if I adjust the volumn from the front knob the speakers get unmuted. Apart from that everything is great and all is right with the world. -- No audio INTEL HD audio - Realtek ALC268 codec - Toshiba A205-S4577 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116326 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
