[Bug 136799] Re: kde: powertop says restarting kdesktop, kwin, kicker saves ~3 wakeups/second
I've found the culprit, at least for kdesktop. kdelibs kdecore/kstartupinfo.cpp KStartupInfo::startups_cleanup() I _think_ the problem is that I'm ending up with a startup notification filed in silent_startups, which isn't going away. Unfortunately the identifier for it is an empty string, so no help there. Silent startup notifications last 10 minutes before they timeout and are removed, as opposed the usual 30 seconds. A silent startup notification is one which has been (temporarily) suspended. It looks like this is supposed to be used for splash screens, so you can avoid seeing the notification at the same time the splashscreen is up. Whatever is creating this startup notification should remove it once they're done, instead of just leaving it as silent. For now though, I don't see any reason to leave startup notifications running longer than 30s, silent or otherwise, so locally I've just removed the distinction. (6 lines removed, no lines added or modified). The lines in question are marked with TODO, by the way :-) It's still compiling so I haven't tested this yet. -- kde: powertop says restarting kdesktop, kwin, kicker saves ~3 wakeups/second https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136799 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

backuppc (3.0.0-4ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low * Merge from Debian unstable * Remaining Ubuntu changes: - Use LSB functions in the init script, and make /var/run/backuppc if needed. - Remove dependancy on wwwconfig-common. - We like apache 2 more, so move it first to the alternatives list. - Bump libfile-rsyncp-perl and rsync from Suggests to Depends. - Remove stop script symlinks from rc0 and rc6. - Don't chown /var/run/backuppc in the postinst. - Don't move /var/lib/backuppc/conf/* (and then delete) to /etc/backuppc in rules, upstream is shipping the config files in /etc/backuppc themselves. - Unfuzzify debian/config.pl.diff. - Munge Maintainer field as per spec. - Add .conf to the symlink removal code in prerm. [Bug 156680] [feisty-gutsy] server do-release-upgrade fails because none of the *buntu-dekstop meta-package is found

It shows this GTK errors on console but it works (you can hide it and show again). And with Animated Pooldown OFF tilda works fine after start but after hiding and showing it back again tilda window gets blank. The upstream bug says that ffmpeg has a fix in SVN, but the fix is /not/ in gst-ffmpeg yet (CVS version of gst-ffmpeg isn't fixed). It's rather complicated to prepare a stable upload and the fix isn't isolated nor is it included in upstream's code yet, so the best is to wait for upstream to include it (and test it). -- problem playing h264 coded videos with gstreamer related players https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156675 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 129081] Re: [needs-packaging] Mumble
All right. The current work in progress is the current Mumble SVN from sourceforge (See http://mumble.sf.net for links). That contains the debian/ directory I used to build the binaries we have on sourceforge. At Justin's request, the debian/ dir has been removed from the tarballs as I understood this is more in line with current philosophy? Anyway. The current things missing from the package are: - Fixing of Ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155784 . The Qt supplied with hardy does dlopen() on libssl.so, which doesn't exist. The bug is currently marked invalid, but it's a showstopper for any application using the new features in Qt4.3. - The mumble binary handles the mumble:// URLs. The package needs to register 'mumble' as a protocol handled by the mumble binary both for Gnome, KDE and whatever other programs are necesarry. I'm not really sure how to do this globally in a clean way, but I suppose the freedesktop people have a good solution. - Both mumble and murmurd are missing man pages. This has been on my own todo list for quite some time, but the only place it's needed is to get lintian to stop complaining. If I provide a man page which says please see murmurd -h, will that suffice? Experience has taught me that multiple documentation documents usually mean all but one are outdated, and we already have the -h output and the README. - A user for murmurd. While I've done my best to avoid any security problems and follow good security practices, and we have also passed static code analysis from Klocwork, I utterly and strongly discourage running it as root. - Registration of Dbus permissions for murmurd (See http://mumble.sourceforge.net/DBus - the /etc/dbus-1/... stuff needs to be added to the package) - A murmur.ini file customized to a system-wide installation. Hm. I guess it makes sense to store murmur.ini itself in /etc somewhere, and the default log should be in /var/log and the database should be.. somewhere in /var? - A init.d script suitable for Ubuntu (which passes the -ini /etc/murmur.ini parameter as well) - The murmur.pl and weblist.pl scripts are actually CGI scripts. It is probably very beneficial if these get automatically installed as cgi scripts runnable by apache, and also installed in such a way that at least murmur.pl has correct permissions for the SQLite database. I forgot to add weblist.pl to the 1.1.0 tarball so you'll have to pull that from SVN for now. As you can see the list is quite long :( I have had plans to fix all of these, but with limited time and the choice between fixing crashbugs and packaging details, crashbugs have to take priority. However, if you can fix the above I will be very happy. If you also grant me permission to check the resulting build files into SVN so we can use them for our sourceforge releases, I will be even happier :) -- [needs-packaging] Mumble https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129081 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 104673] Re: drm lockups on g965 hardware
Peter, now that the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release of Ubuntu is out, we were wondering if you can still reproduce this issue. I haven't tried, since I'm still using the latest git mesa and drm (kernel and userspace). Next time I'm planning to reboot anyway, I'll try to remember to switch back to the shipped kernel drm modules, and all that. Brian fixed in Gutsy I don't think that thread sheds any light on this. g965 usually worked even in Feisty, but some GL apps triggered bugs. Peter F lockups with gm965 If you haven't tried using the latest git drm and mesa, you might want to try. I'll attach a script I use to run git-pull, compile and install drm and mesa. Run it from a directory where you have a drm and a mesa directory, from doing a git-clone something://whatever You'll need kernel headers, e.g. linux-headers-[versionnumber]-generic There's some good info on freedesktop.org about building things from git.
