[Bug 137903] Re: Total system freeze when watch video only
i would like to add that this bug has nothing todo with mplayer (since i'm not using it) and it only arised since i'm using kubuntu 7.10. it was not here when using 7.04. Should i open a new bug or could it be the same. It looks to me like it is the same. which would mean it is not the fault of the tv player application but a kernel bug. -- Total system freeze when watch video only https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137903 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 137903] Re: Total system freeze when watch video only
i have a similar or the same bug. I watch tv on two different computers. Same problem on both. One tv has a pinnacle pctv, a nvidia graphic card and runs kdetv as a player. The other has a wintv usb tv card, a intel graphic card and runs xawtv. But have the same problem, when watching tv, there are random total freezes of the system, after a random amount of time. On the pinnacle pctv computer they happen every few hours. On the wintv one they happend 3 times in 1 and a half hour. There is no logfile that indicates a problem. The keyboard simplay starts to blink and the computer does not react anymore. [Bug 160957] Re: Gimp menu does not conform to Debian policy
I tested your translation method and it works well on my systems (gusty), thanks. It would be nice to have something like this enabled by default in the menu package to allow for easy transition. We cannot hope having all packages conforming to the same menu structure any time soon. Although I prefer the new menu structure and I support your translation which is looking forward, it is a bit confusing. Package maintainers referring to current debian policy (3.7.2.2, /usr/share/doc/debian- policy/menu-policy.txt.gz) will continue to use the old structure while seeing their package appearing at other places in the menu. This can be confusing. It is not critical as the menu will remain coherent (thanks to translations), but it could slow down adoption of the new menu structure. Possible solutions are : - upgrade to a newer debian policy including the new structure (if it exists) - add a special notice for menu transition in /usr/share/doc/debian-policy - rewrite the translations the other way round (e.g. from "Applications" to "Apps"). Users of the new structure are more likely to be aware of the translation for transition purpose. This one would solve the confusion problem, but would not help the transition to the new menu structure, so I personnaly prefer Cesare's solution. -- Gimp menu does not conform to Debian policy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160957 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I changed the GTK theme from "Use my KDE style in GTK applications" to "Qt" and the problem stopped. Assigning the 'Mark message as Important' shortcut seems to work correctly with Ctrl-I and Ctrl-J. I can only reproduce the problem with 'Filter Classify as spam' and 'Filter Classify as not spam'. I did some poking around and found that filters can have shortcuts assigned to them. Assigning a shortcut here appears to override the one set in Configure Shortcuts. It *is* remembered across kmail restarts. This solves my problem, but the Configure Shortcuts dialog is confusing in this respect. I've attached two screenshots to explain a little better. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I've got a Thinkpad X40 with a “Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device” the driver from xserver-xorg-video-i810 worked for me all the time. Yesterday I discovered xserver-xorg-video-intel and installed it. When I rebooted my laptop today. Starting X resulted in very strange behavior. [Bug 133118] Re: very corrupt X after suspend/resume
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I am running an updated gutsy install on a Thinkpad X40 (so i855GM graphics) with the -intel driver. I enabled Desktop Effects last night and the two times I have done a suspend/resume cycle since then, on resuming, is rendered entirely corruptly. X appears to still function, in that i can just about make out where windows are and I can switch desktops and see the corrupt workspaces scroll. Giving X the three finger salute makes it come back fine. + + Impact: Affects laptop users with older intel 855 graphics when they + suspend/resume, leading to 3D textured surface corruption (corrupt X + graphics) on resume forcing the user to reboot (and lose any saved + work). Because of this, the bug is considered serious and deserving of + a backported fix for Gutsy. + + Solution: The proposed patch adds a one-line fix to emit an invariant + state at the appropriate point, to make X not become corrupted. This + fix was uploaded to hardy about a week ago and testers report it + correctly eliminates the corruption. + + Patch: + https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/133118/comments/64 + + Steps to reproduce: + 1. Thank you for your bug report! I think that before you removed the unread mail, you had to select them. Hence, the 'last read mail' was one of those unread messages. After you removed them, and went back to 'Any Status', there is nowhere to go back to since the 'last read message' was just removed. I tried this on Gutsy and I think the above description could be correct. Please feel free to re-open this bug (by assigning the status 'new' to it) if you feel that marking this bug as 'invalid' (which means 'Closed' in this case) is not the right action. ** Changed in: kdepim (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Kmail forgets which mail I was looking at https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152935 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kdepim in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 50039] Re: [Data Loss] KMail mysteriously changes messages to "No Subject", "Unknown" sender
Just a question, did you try to stop kmail, remove the index files, and start kmail again ? I don't know if that will result in more loss, so be carefull (backup first?). I had a similar experience after kmail had crashed, sometimes. I would then delete the files .trash.index .trash.index.ids .trash.index.sorted (for instance, every folder has its own index files) and then restart kmail (took sometimes a long time depending on how many messages needed to be indexed). After that, all the messages where back to normal again. I use maildir support in Kmail (which I think is the default) and another way to check if the messages are still there is to look in the folder (for instance trash) and then into the 'cur' directory and check if there are files like 1194581272.6947.QLKNP 1194581272.6947.RmAPg 1194581274.6947.Hp1J9 1194581274.6947.IcNzr 1194581274.6947.jHCOz 1194581275.6947.a7ZSB If they are zero-length, the messages are gone for sure. If not, reindexing may help. [Bug 154697] Succeeded at last!
I can add some more details now: The first installation failed, giving first a non-fatal error about cupsys upgrade, then crashing in the process of writing the kernel image!!! Clearly, this left me with a non-working 2.6.22 (generic) kernel. I had to restore the partition from the image I made (PartitionImage + Knoppix saved my life, I strongly advice this combination!!!). Then I tried again and it worked just fine. Differences between the first and the second time were: 1) The second time I did activate cupsys before upgrading, since I read in another bug report that having it turned down was a cause of failure 2) Maybe more important, I avoided uninstalling the nvidia drivers. Those were installed through the "envy" script. The first time I removed them as adviced on the envy website, and I did also purge compiz (which I had from the git repository). The second time I left everything as it was, and all I had to do at the end was downgrading some compiz packages which had not been overwritten by the upgrade (ccsm and a couple others). I hope this helps. -- package update-manager 1:0.81 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /tmp/tmpjP6Bsx/backports/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process /tmp/tmpjP6Bsx/backports/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process /tmp/tmpjP6Bsx/backports/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process /tmp/tmpjP6Bsx/backports/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sounds very much like an Impress problem, then. If you raise it upstream, link to it here so I can subscribe to the upstream bug in case I can be of any help from the window manager side. -- impress lacks window list entry in dual head https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156272 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 156679] Re: gcompris crashes in 'rebuild the mosaic'
Hi, I had some difficulty finding that application. For me it was 1st item on the left-side menu Discovery Activities), 4th item on the first row (Color Activities), 1st item on the submenu (Rebuild the mosaic). Is that the correct application ? What do you mean by 'draw' the piece ? I can click on any of the colors on the row of colors at the bottom and then a green 'check-sign' will be in that color. Then I can click on any of the blocks to the top-right side and it will become that color.
