[Bug 184682] Re: kscreensaver immediately reengages when attempting to connect to the system with VNC
Shortly after I discovered this bug, I found that I could work around it by updating to the version of x11vnc in the backport repository. Because this version of x11vnc is now in Hardy, I would assume that the problem does not occur there. Sadly, I cannot test this, as my old Linux PC broke down, and the laptop I got to replace it, though all of its hardware was (intentionally) customized for Linux support, does not work very well with Ubuntu. Therefore, I have had to switch back to Windows :-( -- kscreensaver immediately reengages when attempting to connect to the system with VNC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184682 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is subscribed to kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 224168] Re: Breaks in more unionfs use cases
** Description changed: Apport doesn't work for UME right now due to special casing of the unionfs mount points. It probably also doesn't work for apps installed from a live CD as it doesn't handle the read-write mount point either. This is fixed in the bzr tree for apport in Ubuntu. The fix was to process a list of mount points and add the missing mount points to it. The proposed solution of parsing /proc/mounts was deemed too intrusive. The proper fix is to fix unionfs in l-u-m. TEST CASE: - * For UME: install and enable apport, crash any app e.g. bash -c 'kill -SEGV $$', notice that no crash dump is created - * For the live CD: enable apport, install a new package, start and kill the app with SEGV as above, notive that no crash dump is created - * Alternatively, run /usr/share/apport/testsuite/test-apport kernel + * For UME: install and enable apport, crash any app e.g. bash -c 'kill -SEGV $$', ls /var/crash and notice that no crash dump is created + * For the live CD: enable apport, install a new package, start and kill the app with SEGV as above, ls /var/crash and notice that no crash dump is created + * Alternatively, run /usr/share/apport/testsuite/test-apport kernel; testsuite should fail To enable apport, edit /etc/default/apport, set enabled=1, run /etc/init.d/apport start. [Bug 204546] Re: [FFe] Please sync mailscanner 4.66.5-2 from Debian(Unstable)
Taking a look back at this, Ubuntu carried a unique change so it was not automatically sync'ed. Up until this bug was filed, no one looked to see if the package needed to be updated. At this point we were past feature freeze and so it needed extra approvals. We need two separate plans: 1. Hardy: Prepare an update to address the serious bugs (no one appears to have filed a mailscanner won't work at all bug yet. a. File such a bug with a patch (see step 3 in procedure in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for what needs to be in such a bug). Subscribe me to the bug. b. I'll take that and prepare an upload. I'll also address the RC bug fix that caused this bug to be files (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=472489). c. Once I get that uploaded to hardy-proposed, it will need testing. d. Once tested it gets released to hardy-updates and we have a working (if old) mailscanner. 2. Intrepid: Request a sync a. I'll do that. Once sync's are processed, then it will update automatically from Debian up to Debian Import Freeze. 3. Hardy part two: Request a backport Once it's in Intrepid: a. build and test this version in Hardy. b. If it works, ask for a backport (https://bugs.launchpad.net/hardy-backports/+filebug) see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BackportRequestProcess c. Once it's approved, the archive admins will add it to hardy-backports and the current version will be available through official Ubuntu repositories for Hardy. -- [FFe] Please sync mailscanner 4.66.5-2 from Debian(Unstable) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This happens for me too. In addition, the increase also occurs when I pause and unpause torrents. The amount of increase appears to be proportional to the actual share ratio. [Bug 207409] Re: [HARDY] xserver-xorg does not auto-configure correctly
Guys, I've got to agree here. I've clean installed xubuntu hardy over gutsy on a laptop which has used every ubuntu variation since warty...and cannot get the resolution to work right. Auto config rarely works on this laptop (via graphics) but I've always been able to get it to work by tweaking xorg.cong...now there is nothing in xorg.conf to tweak, and dpkg-reconfigure has been emasculated. I cannot rebuild xorg from scratch. I didn't keep my gutsy xorg because it has always been a couple of minutes work to make it function. I have 11 computers running ubuntu variants in my house, and 20 odd others that I am responsible for, and this was the first upgrade to Hardy which has now taken hours of frustration...please fix this and give us back our tools. -- [HARDY] xserver-xorg does not auto-configure correctly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207409 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 201711] Re: Apple fn key behavior isn't consistent with what's expected
Frédéric is creating links between the multiple issues. There's also some strong arguments in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/201887 for why the current default behaviour is wrong. I wrote there, in support of the same arguments eloquently made by Tommy, Luke, Nicolas and Raphael: 8 Ubuntu isn't OS X, and Apple sell these keyboards as any other keyboard manufacturer. They are Apple keyboards, not Mac keyboards; therefore trying to enforce they work like Macs - when they might well not be being used on Mac hardware, and definitely not OS X - is at least partially incorrect. It'd be different if the keys were *obviously* volume/brightness/dashboard/exposé and not F1, F2, F3 etc. However the hotkeys and the fn keys are given equal prominence. The third argument is that not all of the keys have special purposes, so they should do the base action - function keys without a modifier, first and foremost. -- Apple fn key behavior isn't consistent with what's expected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 204996] Re: Linux kernel 2.6.24-12 lockup
@ Robert (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/204996/comments/119) 8 minutes is the fastest I've seen posted. How reproducible is that? This is, if you do the sames steps after each reboot, does the system crash consistently and does it crash in 8 minutes or less? I don't think I've had Hardy go more than 10 minutes in the dozen or so times I've booted it, either using the live CD or hard-drive install. What I do does not appear to influence the crash. It's happened while I'm using Firefox, checking log files or sitting there doing nothing. In the crash that I posted about above, I'd opened a single-page PDF file (~57k) and switched back to the Nautilus window I'd opened it from. It would be helpful if you could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . You should be able to test the suspend-to-ram part of your bug using the LiveCD, and the hibernate with Hardy installed. Please let us know your results. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- suspend-to-ram and hibernate-to-disk don't work properly. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/68328 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 224750] [NEW] rpcb_getport_async in sunrpc can cause oops on Hardy
Public bug reported: The rpcb_getport_async function in the sunrpc module copies the larger memory area than the allocated on Ubuntu Hardy. This can cause oops. This bugs is derived from Linux 2.6.24 in kernel.org. It seems to be fixed on Linux 2.6.25 in kernel.org by the commit 86d61d8638ddf9cdf87df26c7fa69b2804425fbe. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- rpcb_getport_async in sunrpc can cause oops on Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224750 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 201887] Re: Slim USB Apple Keyboard not working correctly..
2008/4/30, BradwJensen [EMAIL PROTECTED]: You bought this exact keyboard and this is how this one keyboard is made to work. lol No. I bought this keyboard because it has comfortable keys. And because it is not some cheap plastic junk like all the keyboards I had before this. I could not give a rat ass about how it's supposed to work on a mac, this is Linux, not a mac. I'm not saying it has to be that way, but it is the original way for this exact keyboard, and you bought it that way. I did not buy it that way. I bought it with cash. And it should damn well do what I expect this to do, and behave like any other keyboard I plug on this friggin' linux box. The thing even works this way on a mac, I know cos my friend has one. It was made for multi- media before function keys. Maybe Linux has a bad/old way of using keystrokes? I know that it works like this on macs. I have worked in a mac store just a few months ago and I sold these things. That's where I bought mine. The mac software is not centered around the F* keys, but most apps in the windows/gnome/kde/xfce ecosystem use those keys. Don't give me some argument about linux not being media centered enough, every other keyboard on the surface of this earth that I could get my hands on has behaved correctly, even this one... until now. The keyboard is supposed to interact with apps, not the apps caving in to the keyboard. Or maybe Mac is just weird. It's not weird, it's different. Now, here, this is not a mac; a keyboard, being apple-branded hardware or not, should behave accordingly to the host platform. I'm certainly more rude than I should be here, but attitudes like that in this thread are really starting to piss me off. Oh sure, just relearn half of your shortcut techniques, grow a third hand, or buy a different keyboard or a mac! Oh yeah, just weave through the missiles! ** Attachment added: unnamed http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14045446/unnamed -- Slim USB Apple Keyboard not working correctly when pressing the numlock key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201887 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 120866] Re: Error passing command to konsole for execution
I can verify that I get the same pty errors for Debian Etch (Konsole 1.6.5 on KDE 3.5.5) using the example... konsole --noclose -e echo hello However, the problem is that the command must not be inside quotes (which is why -e must be the last option). So this works as expected... konsole --noclose -e echo hello This is NOT nice because xterm does allow the command to be enclosed in quotes, and is therefore more powerful. For example, both of these work... xterm -e less fred xterm -e less fred This means that you can do things like this to look at the gzipped file fred.gz in a new window... xterm -e gunzip -c fred.gz | less But without the quotes the -e refers only to the gunzip and the output from the xterm statement is piped into less (not what you want!). In otherwords, neither of these work as desired (no errors though)... xterm -e gunzip -c fred.gz | less konsole -e gunzip -c fred.gz | less -- Error passing command to konsole for execution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120866 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is subscribed to kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 150333] Re: More magic for Kubuntu
** Description changed: GNOME had more lacks than KDE. Ubuntu's developers have solved it, and the proof of this is that in Ubuntu's 7.10 GNOME already it is not necessary to open a terminal to configure the system.
