[Bug 236423] [NEW] [Pulseaudio + Pidgin 2.4.*] Whole ram+Swap is used

2008-05-31 Thread bugmenot
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libpulse0

Pidgin allocates the whole swap+ram after some time.

The problem can be solved to choose ALSA as audio output in Pidgins
settings.

So I presume a bug in pulseaudio.

I at first opened a ticket in pidgins bugtracker:
http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/5758

All necessary output files can be obtained there.

[Bug 153322] Re: Confusion between virtual desktops and viewports

2008-05-31 Thread dfalk
Why was that option removed? Some people might like desktops better. I
for example don't like moving my window off to the side, and then
switching to another workspace and finding it in the task list because a
few pixels are over the border.

Also, viewports screw up wmctrl, which is annoying to me. I wish there
was the option to use desktops instead. Why isn't there?

[Bug 236422] [NEW] sansa mp3 players not mounted when plugged in

2008-05-31 Thread Mark
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.04 does not mount 2 of our sansa mp3 players when they are
plugged in. After plugging them in, absolutely nothing happens.
Before, when i ran Fedora 8, they were both detected and auto mounted.
I'm pretty sure something should happen when pluggin in a usb device
like this.

Interestingly enough, if i drop to command line and enter "lsusb", the
device will mount and Rythembox will open. The device is then mounted
in /media.

Why is it not being auto mounted? Seems like a bug to me.

You are allowed to split any two cards that have the same value, so splitting a

[Bug 204324] Re: Nautilus should allow execution of arbitrary files with execute bit set

2008-05-31 Thread Yfrwlf
I'm assuming binfmt-misc is standard and is in Ubuntu by default and is
the way the kernel executes files. If so, I also am experiencing this,
and I would guess that the easiest solution for a quick fix would be to
have "Run" be a special option that's always available for executable
files. I assume it's also what you'd normally want as the default
option, but preferences could be set based on file type. For example,
if you wanted all executable BIN files to be run, but all executable SH
files to be opened in GEdit, that seems like that should be doable,
though I don't know how much Nautilus pays attention to the extensions
as it tries to see what the actual file type is regardless of it's name,
which is a great feature. Any way, at the very least, making "Run" be
an option for all executable files would be nice.

I think this is the way it used to be, too, in earlier versions of
Ubuntu, so perhaps this is a problem with the new GVFS being used?
Anyone else have this problem?

I have a bin file, Google Earth to be specific, and when I click on it
it says could display because location isn't a folder, and when right
clicking the only option is "Open with 'Open Folder'". I've seen this
problem with other executables as well. I just tried it on another
computer with 8.04, and it keeps the only options available as the
options for opening the file normally, nothing is changed when you make
it executable except that it views the file type as a "program" in the
file properties.

Any way, yeah this would be a nice bug to see fixed so that installing
stuff is easier for those who don't know how to run something via the
command line. ^^

[Bug 173652] Re: unable to adjust screen brightness on recent Sony Vaio notebooks

2008-05-31 Thread dreiche2
Alright guys, I'm no expert at all and basically tried to hack myself
through the scripts, and now I'm not completely sure what I actually
changed... but anyway, I *think* in /etc/acpi/events/sony-brightness-
down it originally read:

event=sony/hotkey SPIC 0001 0010

However, when I use acpi_listen and the corresponding button, I get

sony/hotkey SNC 0001 0010

Note it reads SNC, not SPIC (whatever that means). I now changed SPIC to
SNC in /etc/acpi/events/sony-brightness-down, and suddenly I can adjust
my brightness with the corresponding keys (while still referring to the
original /sonybright.sh as event)!

So is that the whole problem after all? I'm confused...

[hang]

I've had recent possibly-related hangs with gthumb, gnome panel etc.

This could be related to recently starting using padevchooser and e.g.

[Bug 111829] Re: Network configuration trouble using live cd

2008-05-31 Thread Viktor Ferenczi
Hello,

I've a similar problem when running Kubuntu 8.04 from the CD-ROM.
Choosing Manual Configuration from the context menu (opened by right
clicking) of the KNetworkManager status bar icon does not work at all.
It does not open any network configuration dialog at all. One have to
configure a DHCP server of configure network manually from the command
line, which is possible, but rather frustrating. It should be some
simple bug in KNetworkManager related to the fact, that it runs from the
CD, not from an installed system. Note, that the eth0 adapter exists,
but no eth0 in /etc/network/interfaces, just the loopback adapter is
there. There are no configuration panes under System Settings / Network
Settings for the eth0 adapter, which is rather interesting, since eth0
exists and can be used manually.

It works fine with the regular Gnome desktop, why it is so hard with
KDE?

Re: [Bug 182693] Re: [needs-packaging] monkeystudio

2008-05-31 Thread PasNox
Hi,

I just finished packaging succesfully monkey studio :)
It install great on hardy/intrepid

I have added in svn ( branches/dev ) the debian folder i used, and a bash
script debian.sh witch automatised the task of packaging !
The script can take up to 4 parameters like this : debian.sh version
revision architecture gpg_id
I need to modify a little the script so it can automaticaly update the
changelog files and maybe other files, but with the script we are on good
way for packaging easily monkey studio :)

Please use last svn version and build ( u will maybe need modify my debian
folder to use your email adress as packager, else u will not able to debsign
) monkey and tell me if it's ok for u too.

Same problem here, exactly as described by others.
Kubuntu 8.04
Amarok 1.4.9.1
Cross-fading turned on with crossover duration of 1000 ms.
Output engine is xine.

The skipping happens during normal playlist usage about every 10 tracks
and appears to be random with respect to the song and the environmental
conditions.

thank you for your feedback, you point out some truely frustating points. but i
fear that in this form your feedback will stay unheared. this is a bug tracker
where single software bugs are reported and monitored while being worked on.
you could try to split your feedback and report the relevant things to the
relevant people, or report your experience to some community site where some of
your problems should be solved directly and the real bugs would be reported
here...
marking this as invalid *sigh*
