[Bug 103173] Re: [totem-xine] DVD will not play
After upgrade to Hardy, I found xine was broken for DVD playing (there is no plugin to handle dvd:/...), and kaffeine could not find the libdvdcss2 library, which I had to re-install. I changed the settings in the xine gui from dev/dvd to dev/scd0 and it worked fine. But Kaffiene still wont recognize the libdvdcss2 that is installed, and wont play :-(. [Bug 233840] Re: Cursor jums when restoring an application from alltray
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 106583 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106583 The reason that window decorations are apparently added in gkrellm's default mode would appear to be because of the workarounds for Compiz that had to be implemented, which changed the way windows are handled by Alltray so that it works better with compiz. However, if the package in the PPA solved your mouse-jumping problem, than the bug was in the way that Alltray handled windows _before_, so that's fixed at least, and that would make this bug a symptom of bug 106583, which means that this issue is a duplicate. One other thing is that Alltray generally operates with the assumption that there will be window borders. There is some xmms-specific exception to this rule, from what I've seen while working in the sources, but I haven't had the chance to investigate that any further than simply knowing of its existence. If the window decorations are an issue, though, that would be a separate bug. On a totally unrelated note, I do find it interesting that you'd want gkrellm hidden... I'd prefer to see it docked as a panel, myself, but I guess everyone's got different preferences. :-) ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 106583 No windows hiding with compiz -- Cursor jums when restoring an application from alltray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/233840 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It was a corrupted reiserfs problem. I have a different file system I'm dumping that stuff to in that way and don't get a problem now. I could keep using the resiser partition, it was fine after I ran a bunch of fsck stuff and fixed up the issues. Not sure how it got corrupted. [Bug 240218] [NEW] pillarboxing in Hardy under Sun XVM
Public bug reported: When I install Ubuntu Hardy under Sun XVM 1.6.0 under vista the screen pillar boxes when I put XVM into full screen mode (there is a black border around all four sides of the screen with the content in the centre of the screen). I am using the release versions of Sun XVM and the stock Ubuntu installed from an ISO. I would appreciate an upstream fix to this as I think the “Bug” spoils an otherwise very usable system. [Bug 240206] Re: desktop does not show on screen
Dear plumb16001, this is normal behaviour in linux: by default the linux desktop does not have any icons like windows does (like My Computer, Recycle Bin, My Documents, Internet Explorer etc). You can add a shortcut (called launcher) to any program you want from the applications menu, just right-click on it and select Add this launcher to desktop. [Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.
Renzo, You're right; if I use the unmodified gvfs-backends package from hardy- updates, then I don't see this problem with AD authentication - it's only introduced when I apply Paul's patch. I do have an updated version of that patch which restores correct behavior in AD environments. The only question that remains is, what should the correct behavior be in the absence of kerberos credentials (prompting for username/password, vs. automatically connecting anonymously), given that we don't really want to be architecting a completely new UI in an SRU? You have argued that a username/password prompt should be presented. I'm inclined to agree. BTW, the reason on the server side that the shares are not displayed at all when connecting to your samba server is that you're using the 'restrict anonymous = 2' option. I don't know why that's part of the Ubuntu AD howto; it's not required for AD integration, its only effect is to prevent one from retrieving a list of shares anonymously. As a workaround, you could remove this option on your samba servers, and the corresponding (and non-default) registry setting on your Windows servers, if you're comfortable with share lists being retrievable without authentication. In any case this would still be a problem for user home autoshares, so I've attached the patch to gvfs 0.2.4 which implements this fallback sequence (kerberos - u/p - anonymous). Sebastien, since I'm not seeing the issues in the current patch, it would be helpful to have a concrete reference to the problems that upstream finds with it so that we can get those resolved. ** Attachment added: patch to prefer kerberos, then fall back to password http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15336233/91_samba_authenticated_browsing.patch -- nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
