[Bug 255309] [NEW] f-spot crashes after export to Facebook is finished

2008-08-06 Thread kbit
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

On ubuntu hardy (all updates) with f-spot 0.4.3.1.

I started uploading photos to Facebook.
To this point, I uploaded 4 albums, with 7, 60, 60 and 15 photos respectively.

What happened:
After uploading the first album, f-spot kept being alive.
After each of the other 3 albums, though, it crashed to the desktop.

Expected:
f-spot should not crash after uploading photos.

I'll attach the console output of the last crash.

[Bug 251952] Re: [Hardy] FTDI based USB to Serial Converter not recognized

2008-08-06 Thread freddy
Ok, now here's another way how it could be done.

echo 0403 e40b /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id

That would have added the VID/PID to the ftdi_sio driver too, but it's
just a temporary solution :)

The kernel is the standard kernel in Ubuntu 8.04.1, namely

[Bug 255317] Re: creating permenant mount - won't mount

2008-08-06 Thread lfa
I forgot to mention ... I have no idea how to start fixing this; right
clicking on the media 367.1 GB Media shows me no tab similar to
Mount and no options on any tab in that window show the mount settings
I set previously.

I'd also like to recommend if it is the case that I did add a newline
or G_DIR_SEPARATOR (usually /) where it wouldn't work then it would
have been nice for the program to tell me that.

Thanks.

[Bug 255322] [NEW] xterm does not handle tab character in last column correctly

2008-08-06 Thread Philipp Kohlbecher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xterm

If a line has a tab character in the last column, xterm does not display
the tab.

To reproduce:
 python -c 'print x*79 + \tABC'

(Assuming that your terminal width is 80 characters.)

Expected behavior:
The terminal should display 79 xs and one tab character in the first line,
and the letters ABC in the continuation line.

Actual behavior:
The terminal displays 79 xs and the letter A in the first line, and the
letters BC in the continuation line. The tab character is lost.

I am using hardy (updated from a fresh install of gutsy) with xterm
229-1ubuntu1.

[Bug 255321] [NEW] gedit refuses width resize sometimes

2008-08-06 Thread Chip
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

When gedit width matches screen width upon opening a text file it allows height
resize but not width resize until I turn wordwrap off and on. I have noticed
this several times and I'm not sure it always does this since I only notice it
when it occurs (of course).
Gedit 2.18.1 running under Ubuntu 7.04 all auto updates current as of the 6th
of August 2008

It is really only a minor annoyance to be sure and probably not even
noticed by the majority.

[Bug 255309] Re: f-spot crashes after export to Facebook is finished

2008-08-06 Thread kbit
More observations:

Since I was watching the first upload (the only one that didn't crash
f-spot), I got the idea that it might be important which window is
selected when the upload finishes.

5th upload: I selected the f-spot main window (not the progress window).
Result: f-spot froze. The main window turned grey; the progress window kept its
gtk colors, but was not responsive.

6th upload: Having the firefox window focused as usual.
Result: Crash as usual.

[Bug 254939] Re: No Mouse/Keyboard since update and restart on evening of 4th August.

2008-08-06 Thread Marques Johansson
This isn't completely fixed. While the mouse and keys are generally
working, the latest package now breaks the middle arrow pad and insert,
home, page up, delete, end, and page down keys. The num-pad
representation of these keys still function.

I tried resetting the my keyboard layout from the gnome control center
from Dell/Dell to the default (evdev-managed keyboard) but that made no
difference.

I noticed that the left arrow is now acting as the compose key (and not
right-alt as i have configured in the layout options). All of my other
layout options are default (unchecked).

[Bug 255324] [NEW] Please sync spl 1.0~pre4-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

2008-08-06 Thread Nathan Handler
Public bug reported:

Please sync spl 1.0~pre4-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The libcurl3-gnutls-dev Build-Depends has been changed to libcurl4-gnutls-dev
in Debian. We can drop the other Ubuntu change, modifying the maintainer field.

Changelog since current intrepid version 1.0~pre4-1ubuntu1:

spl (1.0~pre4-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Remove arm{,el} build workaround from debian/rules, too.
  * Enable support for parallel build in DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS.

 -- Gerfried Fuchs [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon, 14 Jul 2008 12:09:18 +0200

spl (1.0~pre4-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Do spell S-Lang and MySQL proper in package description (closes: #460447)
  * Bump to Standards-Version 3.8.0, add tiny README.source even though there
is nothing special about the source handling in this package.
  * Updated copyright file a tiny bit.
  * Remove gcc 4.1 workaround for arm{,el} from debian/control, 4.3 is default
in the meantime.
  * Switch from libcurl3-gnutls-dev to libcurl4-gnutls-dev Build-Depends
because the former is only a virtual package provided by the later.

[Bug 255323] [NEW] Lack of a small gui version

Since development version 1.3.17, wesnoth includes a compilation flag
that allows small GUI (reduced user interface for small devices).

[Bug 220377] Re: firefox 32bits cannot navigate on remote web pages

2008-08-06 Thread Matthias Klose
apparently openjdk (and maybe sun-java) do need mdns in some situations;
in other situations, where you do not want to have an avahi daemon
installed on a (server) system, you do want to be able to install
openjdk without avahi. now, ia32-sun-java depends on ia32-libs, which
would make the installation of lib32nss-mdns unconditional. but assuming
that ia32-sun-java is mostly installed on the desktop, we should re-add
this dependency for hardy-proposed. for intrepid, it should be a
recommend again (installed by default), but can be removed). another
possibility for intrepid might be a change in the nsswitch.conf as
discussed in the previous comment.

[Bug 255327] [NEW] Fingerprint reader isn't detected when resuming from suspension

2008-08-06 Thread nomego
Public bug reported:

When resuming the computer from suspended state, libpam-fprint says (through
the unlock-dialog) that it can't find any fingerprint devices.
If I press escape and then some key to re-activate the unlock dialog, the
device is found.

Don't really know which package that should have a fix against this..
Maybe the resume routine should make sure that all devices are activated before
the unlock dialog is presented?

[Bug 255092] Re: ufw before-output rules do not count packets to loopback

2008-08-06 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Yes,
this is a typo and will be fixed in the next release of ufw. It does not
however affect the functionality of ufw, as the default output chain is
set to ACCEPT (so outgoing on 'lo' was always still accepted), and as
such it only affects the counters (as you mentioned).

[Bug 148408] Re: [M6 LY] System lockup when switching VT's or Resume from Suspend

2008-08-06 Thread Tormod Volden
Some comments in the Debian bug report might indicate that it is a
timing issue, and that anything slowing down the switch (like busy CPU,
debug tracing, and perhaps accidentally doing a POST) works around it.
The old patches mentioned here do not apply to the current code.
Sparkling the code with microsleeps could work. I am not so optimistic
about how much efforts the Xorg driver maintainers would invest in these
old cards, but it might help if some of you having the card could do
some testing. Try for instance attaching to Xorg with strace over the
network from another computer. Or use gdb (also remotely) to narrow down
where it hangs - for instance with breakpoints.

2008-08-06 Thread davidlt

Hello,
I have found the sulution to my problem. It looks that the problem was
connected with my mother board (DFI AD77), which is rather old now. With the
help from other DFI motherboards users I have managed to launch and install
ubuntu. It looks that this is very common with DFI motherboards. Solution was
when the CD boots, you had to add a few boot parameters: noacpi nolapic

[Bug 254418] Re: Nvidia graphics card no longer detected with 2.6.24-20.38-generic

2008-08-06 Thread Stuart Bishop
With the xorg.conf file removed, my card seems to be correctly detected
and I am running at normal resolution.

** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log from 2.6.24-20 boot with no /etc/xorg.conf

[Bug 255339] Re: yelp crashes when trying to access any of the Writing Your Own Programs sub topics

2008-08-06 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 255342] [NEW] Freedesktop's autostart makes (almost) impossible having both KDE4 and GNOME installed in the same machine

2008-08-06 Thread Javier Cabezas
Public bug reported:

I found some annoyances while trying the new KDE 4.1 in Ubuntu Intrepid:

- When I started the KDE4 session, many applications launched
automatically (AWN was especially annoying since it does not behaves
well with the KDE 4 compositor). They are located in ~/.config/autostart
so you cannot enable/disable them in a session-specific way. Therefore,
I had to backup this directory and remove the GNOME-only entries.

- When I switched back to my GNOME session, some KDE applications
launched automatically (Kwallet, etc.) so I had to repeat the previous
step but removing the links to KDE applications this time.

Currently, every time I want to check the progress of the newly released
KDE packages I have to modify the contents of the directory, change the
session, modify the directory again and switch back to the GNOME
session. That is preventing people from having both Desktop Environments
installed in the same machine or using isolated applications from the
other Desktop Environment.

How could this be fixed?

The D-Link DWA-110 usb stick is a Ralink RT73 chipset btw. I also just
noticed that I seem to have reduced signal with 2.6.24-20 - the network
manager notification thingy is reporting 61% under 2.6.24-20.38 and 91%
under 2.6.24-19.

[Bug 254783] Re: Backport USB-PERSIST fix from upstream to Hardy

the classmate has an initscript to enable this feature with the
following code:

 for file in $(/usr/bin/find /sys -name persist|grep usb1);do
 echo -n 1 $file 2/var/log/syslog;
 done

if the respective sysfs flags are not set the patch wont have any
