[Bug 272580] [NEW] floating boxes behave weirdly in firefox (e.g. citibank uk login box)

2008-09-20 Thread Robert Persson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

[Firefox-3.0.1 Hardy]

I have on many occasions experienced floating boxes behaving weirdly in
firefox 3. For instance I had to install the "goodbye snapshot"
greasemonkey script because firefox turned the rubbish from snapshot.com
even more rubbisher to the point that it would make pages unviewable. I
can't reproduce every problem I have ever had right now, but I can at
least start with one of the ones I have encountered today.

I am attaching two screenshots: one of http://www.citybank.co.uk as
viewed in Opera, and the other as viewed in Firefox 3. The fact that the
sign-on box is in the wrong place in firefox will be very obvious. What
will be harder to describe is the strange mouseover behaviour of the
sign-on box, so I will leave you to play with that yourselves.

I also had some strange trouble with the links on the homepage of ing.be
to its home banking pages, and this also involved weird mouseover
behaviour. However since I am incredibly pissed off with ING at the
moment I won't return their tonight to get screenshots. The reason I am
pissed off with them has a lot to do with the quality of their home
banking software which is truly Belgian in its broken and obstructive
pointlessness, so it is quite possible that it is ING who have ballsed
up their javascript as well, and that firefox is blameless. If you still
want me to go to that page again, try me again in a few days.

[Bug 272584] [NEW] No colour conversion when image does not have embedded ICC profile

2008-09-20 Thread Milan Knizek
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Hardy amd64, eog 2.22.3-0ubuntu2

Eye of Gnome correctly displays colours of images, which have embedded
ICC profile. Other images are displayed without any colour conversion to
the colour space of the monitor (as defined by tools like xcalib, xicc).

Correct behaviour would be to assign sRGB profile to images without
embedded profile.

(sRGB colour space is de facto standard for PCs and images on the
internet. Mozilla Firefox 3.x does so, too.)

2100/6 = 35
35*6 = 21
210/6 = 25

This is the first times gcalctool reacts this way.
I tried several displays without (basic, scientific, etc.) without success.
I tried stopping and restarting it without success.

be lost for the developpers by doing so. I will tell you after rebooting

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-20 Thread Remco
How is the integrated Google Search service any different from the
integrated anti-phishing service? Both come with additional terms. Yet
Google Search is not debated here, while the anti-phishing services are.

Maybe if you could configure from which provider you would like to get
the anti-phishing information, it would be OK. That's the case with the
search bar too. There is nothing standing in the way of adding a search
engine that is a "free service". This is not yet possible with the anti-
phishing service.

The problem is that there are no free alternatives. And I'm not
convinced that the current solution is non-free. Also, I don't think
Canonical or Shuttleworth can just come up -on the spot- with a good
definition of a free service and with a policy on them. That needs a lot
of debate.

I wanted to give OpenVZ technology a try and still use my desktop
Kubuntu for convenience. Not a very common setup and I was prepared to
get some issues. I'd installed linux-openvz package. Looks like -openvz
modules and kernel are in place and succesfully installed.

Then I rebooted with -openvz kernel. Surprisingly, system booted up without
any issues, X started and I entered back to my desktop. Actually this message
written under -openvz kernel :)

Linux ath64 2.6.24-21-openvz #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 19:32:43 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux

The only problem occured is that there is some issues with sound-related
modules. Hence, I have no sound.
In dmesg I have the following lines:

I know it is uncommon setup but well, bugs should be fixed anyway,
right? So, here it goes. I suspect that -openvz kernel was intended to
be kept in sync with others. This generally worked fine but for some
reason not for sound-related modules.

[Bug 255372] Re: [evdev] ABNT2 missing keys

Just to make things clear.

I just boot today's Daily-Live CD and it is not swapped.

Using ABNT2 - Br_Nativo it is a Brazilian Dvorak layout, but I guess
wouldn't change the numpad outcome - the ( , ) key does'nt work at all
. The dot/period ( . ) key prints a comma instead.

** Summary changed:

- bug in wubi that comes with ubuntu 8.04 beta. I can't use wubi as it doesn't
have any configuration dialog. After it copies the cd image to the harddisk it
tries to download the md5sum.gpg or something from the internet, then i can
only cancel which then only ends install session. Very Disappointing. Using

[Bug 272470] Re: tv card does only run one time, after reboot it isn't detected as a TV-card any more

2008-09-20 Thread Martin Nowack
Star Wars II ;)

For 8.10 you should use the linux-headers-generic package, it always
install the headers appropriate to your running kernel.

The module installation may installed it in the wrong directory, which
gets cleaned up after each reboot.

You should tell more about your card and describe the drivers e.g. were
you downloaded them from.

I've just loaded the alpha 6 release iso into a vm and set it up with my
contacts and then I signed in to pidgin with my msn account. I then left
pidgin open and went back into evolution and into the options. I turned
on contact auto sync and then click sync now button and it still makes a
duplicate entry in the contact list. the contacts all have an msn and a
yahoo email and it matches what is in pidgin but it makes a new entry
with only their nickname and the email from msn or yahoo in pidgin. If
you need any screen-shots or other things let me know

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Intrepid Ibex. It would help us greatly if you
could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next
release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release
at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
help.

KERNEL_VERSION(2,6,25))
on_each_cpu(KCL_flush_tlb_one, &va, 1, 1);

thats why it only applies to 64bit, because on_each_cpu is never called
when u compile it on a 32bit system !

#if defined(__x86_64__) && defined(__SMP__) && (LINUX_VERSION_CODE >=
KERNEL_VERSION(2,6,25)) && LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(2,6,27)
on_each_cpu(KCL_flush_tlb_one, &va, 1, 1);

on_each_cpu(KCL_flush_tlb_one, &va, 1);
#else
flush_tlb_page(vma, va);
#endif

[Bug 272596] [NEW] [intrepid]: ksysguard "Monitor remote machine..." not working

2008-09-20 Thread Paul Worrall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ksysguard

In ksysguard, choose "File" -> "New Worksheet...", and then "File" ->
"Monitor remote machine...". Enter the hostname and connection type=ssh

ksysguard is started from a terminal, the message "X Error: BadWindow

2008-09-20 Thread Steffen Röcker
> Also under the Advanced button when choosing your keyboard layout,

those around.

Thats the way I solved it:
I selected Generic 105-key (Intl) PC and the German Layout.
Then I selected "Press Right Win-key to choose 3rd level." in the advanced
options for third level choosers and got the @ with Right CMD and q.
IMHO this should be default when you choose the Macbook model and German
layout (which should be automatically detected)

PS: Before that I had an xorg.conf with Option "XkbOptions"
"lv3:rwin_switch" in it.

[Bug 73449] Re: VLC crashed when trying to encode to Theora and FLAC

2008-09-20 Thread zcat
I notice in the VLC 'wizzard' it says it's not really suited to
transcoding ,more just for capturing network streams. I've been using
different tools to encode ogg video so not really bothered any more by
vlc's ability or lack thereof..

Would still be nice to get this fixed so I'll fire up VLC on my other
box (this one's runing gNewSense now!) and see if there's still a
problem with an up to date hardy.

[Bug 263837] Re: VMWare Server on kernel 2.6.27-2-generic: cannot compile vmmon module

2008-09-20 Thread DiscoDancer
I've experienced the same problem trying to get VMWare to work with Ubuntu
Intrepid (now using kernel 2.6.27). I'd be very interested in knowing if the
patch above works.
For Wilbur Harvey : I've gotten the Virtualbox 2.0.2 (
http://www.virtualbox.org/ )that just came out and corrected some "Intrepid"
issues to work just fine - Best of all, it's free! The only issue I'm facing
with Virtualbox is that the workarounds to get the USB ports to work in the
previous Ubuntu versions don't seem to apply to the upcoming Intrepid
version

[Bug 114255] Re: [apport] drkonqi crashed with SIGSEGV in QObject::activate_signal()

2008-09-20 Thread Jonathan Thomas
Shouldn't be a problem in Intrepid, since there have been massive changes since
KDE 3.5.6.
Feel free to set this bug's status back to Confirmed if this pops up in
Intrepid.

[Bug 272601] [NEW] Latest update does not move itself to the right of panel, or remove the logout icon (as the changelog suggests it should)

2008-09-20 Thread Nick Russell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

In Intrepid the latest update to f-u-s-a said that it would move the
applet to the right of panel (to replace the power/logout button).

The update doesn't do this for existing accounts (it only works for the
guest acount, presumably because that is created new each use). As a
result, as well as Intrepid alpha testers this may affect upgraders from
Hardy.

Also, it doesn't remove the power/logout icon which it is supposed to replace.
And, it doesn't add the separator between time/date and the applet (which again
I've seen in the correctly arranged guest account).

To reproduce: update an alpha 5 or earlier build of intrepid with the
latest f-u-s-a. Notice that the applet is in the same place as in Hardy,
and the power/logout icon is visible and in the same place as in Hardy.
Next, create a guest session. Notice that there is no power/logout icon,
and the f-u-s-a is in its place instead.

Expected behaviour: In exisiting accounts when upgrading the f-u-s-a the
applet should be moved to the right, should delete the logout/power
button and should add a separator between itself and the clock.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 272598] Re: my imvu

2008-09-20 Thread Wouter Stomp
Questions about ubuntu are better asked here:

Ubuntu doesn't run a firewall by default, I don't know what imvu is.

Closing this as it is not a bug.

@jojo, thanks for testing, however what we need to know is how behaviors
changed - does 111 work the same, better, or worse than 109?

[Bug 251443] Re: keyboard layout switching shortcuts like Alt+Alt do not work anymore

2008-09-20 Thread Simos Xenitellis
Out of curiosity, could you please try the following,

1. Change the shortcut that lets you switch between keyboard layouts to
LShift+RShift (that it, it does not involve the Alt key)
2. Try again Alt+Tab, etc and report if it now 'works'.

Again, this is an issue that is related to the inner workings of the
X.org server.
