[Bug 315983] Re: nautilus crashes and desktop icons disappears
It looks like this crash is caused by something in compiz.desktop. Hi Note, that in the default giplet has configuration line for interfaces to be eth0 www.getmyip.org. If eth0 is not configured, then the second interface value is checked. So if you have something like eth0 www.getmyip.org and eth0 is not configured, it will show the external ip which is get from www.getmyip.org. Does this somehow helps on your problem? We got bitten by this very bug! I spent a long time making sure it wasn't anything on our network but what clear things up for me was this: copying from Hardy to Hardy works copying from Hardy to Solaris does not copying from Solaris to Solaris works So, obviously it's not the network devices that are wrong. So, I started digging and found a lot of information about stalling issues for scp and large files and the use of scp -vvv to hint at the problem. scp -l works fine if the limit is relatively small. I am not sure if this will still be seen by the upstream developers, but I think I have a better way of describing the problem that suggests it has a very simple fix. Since the redraw vestiges happen only outside an 800x600 window (the same size the greeter used), it is possible that the background window (or however it may be called in Z/Compiz-speak) responsible for ensuring things get erased when needed is being sized at the same size the greeter used (800x600 in this case) instead of the size of the combined monitor area (2048x768). Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. [Bug 316093] [NEW] gvfsd allocates huge amounts of memory while playing audio files
Public bug reported: This might be related to bug 195976 (where gvfsd is accused of crashing a machine). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195976 I have two screenshots of the system monitor, indicating the amount of memory gvfsd has allocated (292MB) and the amount of swap consumed (943MB). My system has 1.5GB of ram and the same swap, and I can reliably create this amount of swap being taken if my Sony Walkman MP3 player is connected for a couple of days and I listen to my music, the swap gets eaten. [Bug 220628] Re: firefox-3.0b5 received an X Window System error: 'BadIDChoice'
Thomas, you're right, flashblock wasn't it. It's strange though that it worked for me for about two weeks with that new upgraded version but now I have the same crash again. Are you using KDE 4.X? What may be involved is that I just changed nvidia drivers last night and it's started crashing since. I'm using the nvidia 180.22 drivers, upgraded from 180.16. I still haven't ruled out QtCurve though, so I'm upgrading to the latest (0.60 from the notz ppa) and will see how that works. I'm shocked so few people have this problem and it's persisted as long as it has being as totally intermittent as it has been, as well. It also seems to only happen when I get enough tabs to have to scroll through them on the tab bar on the window (the last crash was 2 windows, 140 tabs); that doesn't seem to cause the crash, but it never seems to be able to get off the ground after it either crashes unrelatedly or being closed. I'm also using an nvidia geforce 8600 GT. What card and drivers are you using? I've had problems with the 8XXX series and the nvidia drivers for about the last year--maybe the bug is somewhere in the combination of bad driver version(s) and 8XXX series of cards. -- firefox-3.0b5 received an X Window System error: 'BadIDChoice' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220628 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. It sounds like, from your description, that the Intel graphics card isn't getting the 3D acceleration drivers loaded, Please attach your X server configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the Attachment: box below. Could you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf and let Xorg autodetect your display and video card? Please also attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None = xorg Status: New = Incomplete -- ubuntu crashes on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312736 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
