that's a duplicate of bug 322252 , if you increase the size of the panel

[Bug 303232] Re: armel gcc default optimisations

2009-02-16 Thread Loïc Minier
Dave, on the use of multiple sources.list entries:
Note that http://mojo.handhelds.org/hasty-armv6el-vfp/ only cascades deb-src
entries. We discussed the idea of another archive, but this is quite a stretch
to setup and maintain; of course you need infrastructure (disk space, buildds,
bandwidth etc.), but also it needs maintenance (watching the builds), separate
QA, and is quite confusing to end users. Ideally, you also want a mechanism to
prevent mismatches of packages on target systems. The way to do this would be
to add subarch support to dpkg/apt and enforce subarch equality when installing
binary packages (the subarch of the binary package needs to match the subarch
of the system).

[Note that the mojo folks abused the arm port; AFAIK they built
binaries for EABI using arm as Debian architecture, so they offer
.debs which dpkg will allow to install on a Debian arm install despite
being another ABI. That was the easiest path to get these interesting
archives, but it breaks ABI, so not something to do officially IMO.
What's possible however is to rebuild the armel archive with higher CPU
requirements, keeping the same ABI.]

[Bug 269204] Re: System monitor displays incorrect disk usage sizes

2009-02-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
thank you for your comment, there is no offense there, the ubuntu bug
triager do try to get useful informations on bugs to send those to the
people writting the software so they can be worked. in this case there
is nobody in the ubuntu team getting your issue or knowing the code
enough to know what informations to request, in such case it would not
be efficient to open a bug upstream without being able to reply to their
questions, that's why it has been asked if you could contact them
directly since you get the issue and could reply to their question which
is not the case for bug triagers

Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the

might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system

[Bug 327027] Re: hugin autopano error

2009-02-16 Thread mgerben
Had the same problem, same fix.
Yes, it is a bug, but in the settings, not in any of the the programs.

What happens is that Hugin installs fine in Ubuntu Intrepid, with all the
dependencies, but the autopano-executable setting is wrong.
It should indeed be 'autopano-complete' (which is some sort of script as far as
I can see), instead of just 'autopano'.

This is an eyesore as it means that Hugin does not work out-of-the-box.
The fix is easy but not obvious, which might turn many people off.

Suggestion for next time: test package by installing and stitching a
(small) panorama.

[Bug 303232] Re: armel gcc default optimisations

2009-02-16 Thread Loïc Minier
Emmet, I don't think runtime detection is a good idea for FPU; you would
end up reimplementing the hwcap mechanism to select between two flavours
of the library IMO -- unless all floating point is already in a dlopen-
ed plugin, but that's not really the case for the libs here.

Also, I think we might not split in separate packages for all libs; only
the largest ones. For instance a separate libc6-i686 is warranted since
libc6 is installed in all chroots / installs and /lib/tls/i686/cmov is
2.6 MB, but libspeex1 ships both /usr/lib/sse2/libspeex.so.1.5.0 and
/usr/lib/libspeex.so.1.5.0 because the SSE2 variant is only 116 kB.
Note: on Ubuntu systems, libc6-i686 is a dep of ubuntu-minimal anyway.

[Bug 330067] [NEW] X server crash while running Google Earth

2009-02-16 Thread giacof
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I am using Kubuntu Intrepid 8.10 with KDE 4.1.4 on a Compaq Presario

I installed the last version of Google Earth: 5.0.11337.1968 (beta). I
noticed several problems with it, such as flashing and texture errors.
After a while, the X server crashed and the system hung.

[Bug 320027] Re: Incorrect CPU speed on 2G Surf

2009-02-16 Thread komputes
Sitsofe, I am attempting to confirm that cpuinfo on a Xandros eeepc 701
install on a reports 800 Mhz

I have also added outputs of `dpkg -l` and `lsmod` if these can be of
any help. It is not a problem to post anything else you may need from
the machine.

I am using the first BIOS version 0129 produced for this machine at its
release. Xandros update software proposes BIOS upgrades but fails to
install them. Asus support does not recommend the upgrade and are not
assisting with the issue.

Having a slower clock speed will discourage people from installing
Ubuntu when another distro allows the speed it was designed for. If we
both believe and can agree that user experience and hardware support are
extemely important factors, we can therefore agree that this is a fair
argument. I agree with you on the fact that they are able to install and
run Ubuntu, but nobody should sacrifice such a performance hit for
making that choice.

If 800mhz is a safe speed, it should be standard. If we run it at
571mhz, there there needs to be an easy way for users to scale up. I
personally prefer the former.

[Bug 250863] Re: Bookmarks not saved when exiting firefox

2009-02-16 Thread nitto
I finally solved creating a new profile from the scratch and than copying all
the setting and bookmarks.
Bookmarks and saved password can be copied easily, the other setting can be set
in few minutes.
In my case the problem seemed to be in the places.sqlite file but anything
solved the problem but using a completely new profile.

[Bug 325802] Re: krdc 4 does not include show local cursor button

2009-02-16 Thread komputes
What changes were performed to this package by ubuntu developers? KDE
developers believe that we modified the source to remove the show local
cursor button. Is this a correct assumption?

--- Comment #5 from Urs Wolfer uwolfer kde org 2009-02-14 16:23:58 ---
I think you (or your dist) changed KRDC toolbar settings. The action should be
right to the view only button. You can also find this action in the Session
menu.

Please report any success.

the latest updates to see if this is fixed? (If it never happened with
any regularity it will be hard to tell whether or not this is fixed.)

** Description changed:

If I search for a phrase in enclosed quotes such as apple tree it
shows results with apple OR tree.

If I search for the domain of an email such as lincoln.ac.uk in
enclosed quotes it brings back results which have lincoln.

How can I restrict the search to phrases such as those above?

  Thanks
+
+ Added: Tracker cannot search folders with apostrophies in their names
+ (e.g. Mom's Files) it returns Error parsing search command.

[Bug 328572] Re: Connecting/disconnecting notification changes

2009-02-16 Thread Alexander Sack
Wouldn't it make the code more readable (less fragmented) if we stopped
doing the early return when != ACTIVATED and put the different code
for ACTIVATED and DEACTIVATED to the bottom?

[Bug 327509] Re: firefox freezing in jaunty ext 4

2009-02-16 Thread Ryan Waldroop
I'm having the same problems, but not necessarily when I'm running
firefox. My computer has recently been freezing up when doing an rsync
to get my data off of my desktop, and also while apt-get upgrading and
apt-get installing things.

I don't think it's my hardware...everything was working fine during
Intrepid (running Jaunty now). I'm going to run smartmontools and
memtest later.

Could this be an ext4 bug? Seems to happen during heavy HDD usage...

[Bug 321472] Re: [Intrepid] Update kernel to Linux 2.6.27.12

2009-02-16 Thread klaxian
When using the new 2.6.27-12 kernel, my keyboard and mouse stops
responding after logging into X. To clarify, they do work on the login
screen, but that's it. The only thing changed was the new kernel.
Booting from 2.6.27-11 works normally. If it helps, I am running a
Lenovo T61 laptop with an amd64 system. Please let me know if I should
create a new bug report for this. Thanks.

[Bug 274953] Re: Pygame causes Mnemosyne to crash

Simpler way to reproduce:
python -OO -c 'import numpy'

So when optimization is enabled, something breaks in NumPy's documentation.
Anybody knows where it comes from?

[Bug 323733] Re: [Compaq Presario CQ60] suspend/resume problem

2009-02-16 Thread uve
While coming back from sleep. I updated at the last kernel and it's
still reproducible.

The lastest kernel release is:

$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 2.6.28-7.20-generic

I reported this bug with this kernel release as new bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/330072) because
I'm not sure if it's the same. Anyway, I marked it as duplicate.

I think that the problem is with non-free nvidia driver.

I aplogise for my english.
