[Bug 330298] Re: mdadm software raid breaks on intrepid-jaunty upgrade

2009-02-22 Thread Yannis T
I have the same problem here. After upgrading to 9.04 yesterday the
system does not boot (it hangs after discovering the disks). It does not
boot even with the old kernel. I have not tried the above solution yet,
but it seemed to me that there was a problem with mdadm.

[Bug 253286] Re: kdevelop project was broken when going to 8.10

2009-02-22 Thread Ralph Navarro
I have tested Christian's technique of updating kdevappwizard's copy of
ltmain.sh and can now create new C++ projects that build properly.
However, a better fix might be for kdevappwizard to get its ltmain.sh
(and any other libtool files) from the installed libtool instead of
using a copy that can get outdated. kdevelop would then be able to use
any libtool updates that were installed.

[Bug 333167] [NEW] When restoring from hibernate, GnomeICU does not reconnect to ICQ

2009-02-22 Thread Robert J Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnomeicu

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature request.

In Ubuntu 8.10, when I put my machine into Hibernate via (laptop Power
Button) -> Hibernate, or through the (power icon) -> Hibernate, the
machine successfully powers down (most of the time).

Even if I am logged into ICQ using the GnomeICU client before going into
hibernate, when I log back in I have to manually reconnect.

My "Connect to server on startup" option (in the Connections tab) is
selected.

[Bug 333162] [NEW] Running out of disk space in transmission causes downloads to restart on the desktop

2009-02-22 Thread Scott Ritchie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: transmission

If I have a very large torrent downloading to some folder (say,
~/torrents), and then run out of disk space while downloading,
transmission will do some wonky things when it restarts - the torrent
will restart from scratch, however the download location will now be in
~/Desktop.

The original files are left unchanged, however this is very confusing,
and to resume them I have to redownload the torrent file and point it to
the original folder - clicking recheck will only check the torrent being
saved to the desktop.

[Bug 333151] [NEW] Problem with Javascript on kcet.org

2009-02-22 Thread Dave Hardenbrook
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I came across the following problem: If I go to:
http://kcet.org/schedule/ and click on any of the problem titles, it
does not open a window displaying the program description as it should
and does under Windows XP. It opens the window and displays the title,
"KCET Program Information, and a "Close" button, but the description is
empty except for the words "We're sorry, but we do not have TV Schedule
information for this program." The problem appears to be with the
Javascript code that displays the window, though the Error Console
reports a series of parse errors in the related CSS.

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 and GNOME 2.24.1. As I mentioned above, the
problem does not exist for the Windows version of Firefox 3.0.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: firefox-3.0 3.0.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: firefox-3.0
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-11-generic i686

[Bug 251558] Re: Ubuntu FAT-implementation lacks EPOC/Psion support

2009-02-22 Thread duanedesign
Comment from upstream report.

Is this patch is about this thread?

http://marc.info/?t=10751394423&r=1&w=2

The read would be compatible, but write is not compatible with FAT spec.
So, I think read side may be applied, but write part can't be applied.

Re: [Bug 317895] Re: netboot newuser and ecryptfs fails to login

2009-02-22 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Whole story:

On one laptop, I installed from the mini iso (and chose kubuntu-desktop, the
mini iso is the same for all *buntu) and found I couldn't login to KDE fully
because it couldn't write configs (rebooted and tried to login multiple times,
was driving people #kubuntu-devel nuts trying to figure out if it was KDE's
fault because KDE was throwing errors). I logged into the VT and saw that ~
had 500 permissions (while logged in as the only user on there). I did a
chmod 700 /home/maco ...and all worked well.

On this laptop, I was trying to figure out why that occurred, and here is where
I edited the ecryptfs-setup-private script. The first user I created with
adduser --encrypt-home was test3. When that user is not logged in the
permissions are 755. When that user is logged in, the permissions are 700.

Then after what you said I did some more testing. I commented out the if
statement I had added (so back to the original code) and did adduser --
encrypt-home test5. When this user is not logged in, the permissions are 500.
When this user is logged in the permissions are 700.

[Bug 333141] [NEW] Pidgin is lonely

2009-02-22 Thread John Moser
Public bug reported:

At some point I noticed an icon in my task bar showing some kind of
hook-up being disconnected. Curious, I hovered my mouse over it, hoping
for a tooltip. The tooltip I got appears in the attached screen shot.

It seems to me that Pidgin is very lonely due to the loss of its
girlfriend. This is sad. Please find Pidgin another girlfriend so it
can hook up again and resume its happy chatting, and stop displaying
depressing tooltips to me. Open source IM clients need love too.

[Bug 333140] [NEW] linux server kernel 2.6.24-23 crashes every 8 to 12 hours

2009-02-22 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my server kernel to 2.6.24-23, the machine started

know what information will help with locating the bug, but I can follow
up if anyone has questions.

[Bug 333139] [NEW] gnumeric ignores keyboard input

2009-02-22 Thread Martin Pool
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnumeric

This seems to be a new regression in jaunty in the last few weeks. It
is intermittent but does occur quite frequently.

Sometimes after opening a spreadsheet gnumeric almost ignores my
keyboard input. By that I mean I can see characters appearing in the
input box above the spreadsheet, but they don't actually get written in
to the cells, when I press enter or press buttons next to the input box.
Once it's in this mode I can't seem to do anything to make it work
again, but sometimes quitting gnumeric and restarting it will make it
work.

Attached is an example of a file where this occurs. I couldn't
reproduce it in about 5 attempts at creating a new file, but it is
occurring with several files that I already have, even very simple
files. You can see in the screenshot that many of the toolbar icons and
the corresponding menu items are disabled.

[Bug 333138] [NEW] errata: Samsung ML-2510 laser printer

2009-02-22 Thread shengchieh
Public bug reported:

I'm using #! (CrunchBang) and reported this bug. And was referred to
ubuntu since #! is derived from ubuntu.

The preinstalled ppd and raster files do not automatically work. Also the
Unified Linux Driver (from Samsung's website) does not
work because it use libtiff.so.3 instead of version 4 (#! uses version 4). You
have to follow the direction at

http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-ML-2510
-> Unified Linux Driver
(scroll 3/4)

and copy the ppd and raster files (from Samsung's tarball to CUPS
directory).

Can the updated ppd and raster files be in future versions?

Thank!

[Bug 332615] Re: svn co on SSL repository fails due to libneon bug

2009-02-22 Thread Guilherme Blanco
It seems subversion package relies on libneon27-gnutls. It's a build-
dep.

What exactly do you want me to test?
Should I compile same subversion version but using package libneon or is it
something else?
Please try to be more verbose and I can provide as much info as I can for you.

If I ask to remove libneon27-gnutls (which points to 0.28.2), it removes
libsvn1 and also subversion.

I just installed Intrepid one another machine and got same issue.

Regards,

GB

[Bug 180866] Re: [XPS M1330] Eject Button Doesn't Work

2009-02-22 Thread Rene Horn
This bug needs to be opened back up because while changing the above
sysctl setting does work, it doesn't bother to unmount the disc before
it ejects it, so the disc needs to be reinserted to unmount it properly.

When I first got my laptop--preloaded with Ubuntu (8.04 at the
time)--the eject button would do exactly as would be expected. That is
to say that it would unmount the disc, and then eject it. It doesn't do
that any more.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 331000] Re: Desktop hangs

2009-02-22 Thread Ted
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please attach your X server configuration file
(/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the
bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the

When you do please also attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this
attempt. Thanks in advance.

2009-02-22 Thread sseipel133
I am not using either of those. It was still occuring without the
gdesklets.. It is not now because I reinstalled Ubuntu. That worked fine
for a day or two then the internet connection suddenly quit working. So
until I have more time to deal with that I have given up on Ubuntu for
the most part.

Thanks for submitting this bug report!

More information would be helpful to improve this report.

Are you using Desktop Effects or Compiz?

Does the problem still occur if you are not running gDesklets?

Thanks!

Status in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
I tried unsuccessfully to install some gdeskletts. Now every window I open
stays in one corner and can't be moved. The top of the window will be gray,
not brown, and can not be maximized or minimized. To close it I have to go to
file and select quit. The windows selector at the bottom of the screen is not
showing any windows even though it is installed. The F11 trick doesn't work
on this one. I have Ubuntu 8.10.

dangit, I spelled it wrong, that's why it wouldn't accept the package
when I tried. thanks

[Bug 153350] Re: prism54 does not work - need to use p54pci and p54common

2009-02-22 Thread duanedesign
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
