Re: [Bug 317895] Re: netboot newuser and ecryptfs fails to login
Whole story: On one laptop, I installed from the mini iso (and chose kubuntu-desktop, the mini iso is the same for all *buntu) and found I couldn't login to KDE fully because it couldn't write configs (rebooted and tried to login multiple times, was driving people #kubuntu-devel nuts trying to figure out if it was KDE's fault because KDE was throwing errors). I logged into the VT and saw that ~ had 500 permissions (while logged in as the only user on there). I did a chmod 700 /home/maco ...and all worked well. On this laptop, I was trying to figure out why that occurred, and here is where I edited the ecryptfs-setup-private script. The first user I created with adduser --encrypt-home was test3. When that user is not logged in the permissions are 755. When that user is logged in, the permissions are 700. Then after what you said I did some more testing. I commented out the if statement I had added (so back to the original code) and did adduser -- encrypt-home test5. When this user is not logged in, the permissions are 500. When this user is logged in the permissions are 700. -- netboot newuser and ecryptfs fails to login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317895 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 333139] [NEW] gnumeric ignores keyboard input
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnumeric This seems to be a new regression in jaunty in the last few weeks. It is intermittent but does occur quite frequently. Sometimes after opening a spreadsheet gnumeric almost ignores my keyboard input. By that I mean I can see characters appearing in the input box above the spreadsheet, but they don't actually get written in to the cells, when I press enter or press buttons next to the input box. Once it's in this mode I can't seem to do anything to make it work again, but sometimes quitting gnumeric and restarting it will make it work. Attached is an example of a file where this occurs. I couldn't reproduce it in about 5 attempts at creating a new file, but it is occurring with several files that I already have, even very simple files. You can see in the screenshot that many of the toolbar icons and the corresponding menu items are disabled. ** Affects: gnumeric (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gnumeric ignores keyboard input https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333139 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 333138] [NEW] errata: Samsung ML-2510 laser printer
Public bug reported: I'm using #! (CrunchBang) and reported this bug. And was referred to ubuntu since #! is derived from ubuntu. The preinstalled ppd and raster files do not automatically work. Also the Unified Linux Driver (from Samsung's website) does not work because it use libtiff.so.3 instead of version 4 (#! uses version 4). You have to follow the direction at http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-ML-2510 -> Unified Linux Driver (scroll 3/4) and copy the ppd and raster files (from Samsung's tarball to CUPS directory). [Bug 331000] Re: Desktop hangs
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => compiz -- Desktop hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331000 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 333008] Re: "X server terminated unexpectedly" when playing fullscreen video after updating to KDE 4.2
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please attach your X server configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the "Attachment:" box below. Could you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf and let Xorg autodetect your display and video card? When you do please also attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => xorg Status: New => Incomplete -- "X server terminated unexpectedly" when playing fullscreen video after updating to KDE 4.2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333008 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 323803] Re: any window opened stays in one corner, cannot be resized, moved or minimized, and window bar at the bottom of screen is gone
I am not using either of those. It was still occuring without the gdesklets.. It is not now because I reinstalled Ubuntu. That worked fine for a day or two then the internet connection suddenly quit working. So until I have more time to deal with that I have given up on Ubuntu for the most part. --- El sáb, 21/2/09, Odd-rationale escribió: De: Odd-rationale Asunto: [Bug 323803] Re: any window opened stays in one corner, cannot be resized, moved or minimized, and window bar at the bottom of screen is gone Para: sseipel...@yahoo.es Fecha: sábado, 21 febrero, 2009 10:51 Thanks for submitting this bug report! More information would be helpful to improve this report. Are you using Desktop Effects or Compiz? Does the problem still occur if you are not running gDesklets? Status in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I tried unsuccessfully to install some gdeskletts. Now every window I open stays in one corner and can't be moved. The top of the window will be gray, not brown, and can not be maximized or minimized. To close it I have to go to file and select quit. The windows selector at the bottom of the screen is not showing any windows even though it is installed. The F11 trick doesn't work on this one.
