[Bug 333713] [NEW] need different wireless network settings for Telstra Next G card
Public bug reported: I just got a Telstra BigPond PCMCIA/PC Card card. To connect, I had to use different settings that the current Telstra settings that Ubuntu provides. The main problem is that the AT+CGDCONT=... command doesn't work, so instead we need to dial a different GPRS number depending on the plan we're on, meaning we probably need a separate connection template for each permutation with this card. In my case, using a casual internet plan on my mobile phone plan: Number to dial: *99***3# APN: must be empty The list on my card is: 1 telstra.pcpack Data plan with time limit 2 telstra.datapackData plan with download limit 3 telstra.internetPhone plan ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- need different wireless network settings for Telstra Next G card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333713 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 333714] [NEW] pinnacle 72e ultimate edition random crash
Public bug reported: I am watching tv on ubuntu jaunty with the pinnacle 72e dvb stick ultimate edition. This works fine except for the random crashes that occur, I've tested it with gxine and klear. Sometimes sound disappears and after a couple of seconds the image freezes. The only solution than is to restart the application and everything works fine again. This freezes are random, I can watch tv for multiple hours without any problem but it's also possible that it freezes every ten minutes. These seem unrelated to anything else. I first filed this bug against gxine, but because it is probably a driver issue I filed it again here, I hope this is the correct package. [Bug 291752] Re: [regression] cryptsetup does not work on raw encrypted drives
Sven, if you could test this new package in intrepid-proposed that would be great (it should be available on archive.ubuntu.com in about 1.5 hours). Since this reverts the package to the exact state of intrepid final, we can waive the 7 day maturing period here. [Bug 333711] [NEW] AppArmor profile for sbin.dhclient3 should handle connman
Public bug reported: Connection manager ("connman") runs /sbin/dhclient using some specific actions and stores leases in different locations to NetworkManager. The new sbin.dhclient3 AppArmor profile prevents connman from acquiring an IP address and storing the lease, I include a patch to the profile which addresses that. I'm not sure whether AppArmor configurations can extend one another. If so, it may be better to extend the dhclient profiles (/sbin/dhclient3, /sbin/dhclient-script, /usr/lib/connman/scripts/dhclient-script) in a separate apparmor.d file added by the connman package. For the moment this patch just extends the profile added by the dhcp3-client package. ** Affects: connman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- AppArmor profile for sbin.dhclient3 should handle connman https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 208620] Re: 8.04 beta: GeForce4 Ti 4200 + Dell M993c = low resolution
I think we can close this bug as it appears to be due to a hardware fault in the monitor that is preventing the EDID information arriving at the VGA port. Only this monitor has this problem on this computer. I have tested Jaunty Alpha-4 and the problem persists if the M993c is the only monitor present. It appears that if an EDID monitor is not found, the driver assumes an old pre-EDID CRT is attached and limits the resolution to 800x600. If I plug a different monitor into the 1st (alone) or 2nd (with the CRT on the 1st) DE-15F on the video card, its EDID is read and is used to set the maximum resolution (1680x1050 in this case). [Bug 289928] Re: Bad keyboard configuration in gdm since 8.10rc update
Can you tell me a bit more about your keyboard and its setup? I notice that you have no keyboard settings in your xorg.conf, but in the Xorg.0.log it is selecting the "fr" keyboard: (**) AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: xkb_rules: "evdev" (**) Option "xkb_model" "pc105" (**) AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: xkb_model: "pc105" (**) Option "xkb_layout" "fr" (**) AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: xkb_layout: "fr" (**) Option "xkb_variant" "oss" (**) AT Translated Set 2 keyboard: xkb_variant: "oss" One change that IIRC happened for 8.10 is that the Xorg keyboard settings were taken from the console-setup settings you made during installation. Do you recall if you originally selected a French layout? This could explain why your system defaults to that. As to why it is correct in the logged in session, could it be that you switched it back to qwerty using System > Preferences > Keyboards? If you create a new account, what keyboard does it get? Please attach your /etc/default/console-setup file. And see if by adjusting the contents of that file, if it fixes the issue on gdm for you. ** Changed in: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- Bad keyboard configuration in gdm since 8.10rc update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289928 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 332945] Re: [Jaunty] Removal of Update Notifier is WRONG
> Curses, our secret plan has been uncovered! Canonical is indeed trying to > degrade Ubuntu, > make it less secure, and drive average business and personal users away. No one has said that there is any malicious intent. That's just a defensive reaction on your part. But nor do we like the direction that you have taken with this change. > We discussed it publicly at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in December Yes, I was there. Oh wait, no I wasn't. Nor was more than an insignificant fraction of the Ubuntu community. Most of us first got wind of the change when it dropped in our laps, and now we're letting you know how we feel about it. And it isn't just one person complaining. Actually, I'm still trying to find anyone who likes the change. In the e-mail chain, people disagreed with you. In this bug report, we disagree with you. And I certainly do not consider it appropriate for you to mark the report as invalid, anymore than it would be a generally acceptable policy for a reporter to mark their own bug as confirmed. So now lets get away from the irrelevant defensive nonsense and talk about the problem: > It's part of a long-term plan to clean up the notification area > Of course the new behavior is a bit rough around the edges, but the problems > are fixable. The first is fine, and the second is a good starting point for your admission. The unfocused window solution is NOT the desired solution for that "third kind" of notification as C Cooke classified it. And I really don't care what technology is used to get it. The end result is what matters, and I'm sure that a suitable solution can be found. After all, it is all 1's and 0's in the end. But we want some sort of persistent, dynamic, notice. One way of looking at it is that this is a condition, not an event. it may be set & cleared by events, but it is not an event - it is a persistent condition. -- [Jaunty] Removal of Update Notifier is WRONG https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332945 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 278489] Re: vinagre local mouse pointer disappears
Emilio, were you able to reproduce this? It's more obvious if you do a remote connection over the web, since the lag between the remote computer mouse and the vinagre mouse is greater over a slow connection, so initially you will see two mouse pointers, but you only get one when you move the mouse to another (non-vinagre) window and back. ie vinagre must be deliberately setting the local mouse pointer icon to null (or a blank image) when it has focus. It doesn't do this initially, but it does once the mouse moves out of vinagre and back in. -- vinagre local mouse pointer disappears https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/278489 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 325470] Re: Turning wireless switch on causes system to slow down
@Id2ndR, Already downloaded Jaunty, but I can't report if this problem is happening on Jaunty, since wireless connections are disabled. The wireless card is recognized, but Ubuntu won't let me use wireless networks, even if the switch is on, and of course, no slowdown ocurrs, because it's like there wasn't a wireless network card; the Network Applet says "wireless is disabled" and lsmod says that there's not any 'iwl4965' module loaded.
