[Bug 367164] [NEW] "Set date and time automatically" doesn't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace When I check "Set date and time automatically" in systemsettings, that will set the time and date that one time, but the next time I open systemsettings, the option is always unchecked again. Is this thing supposed to adjust date&time automatically in regular intervals? With ntpd? If it's not, the labeling and the interface with the checkbox is misleading and should be changed (like from a checkbox to a button). That would make it more clear that what you're doing is a one-time synchronization, not setting the system up to undergo regular synchronization with a time server. [Bug 347078] Re: runaway Xorg in drmDMA() (radeon)
I did a bit of testing and discovered an interesting point: only Qt4-applications are extremly slow, but not from the start but after about three quarters of a minute to one minute. When I'm using e.g. yakuake or opera, which are both still Qt3-applications, I do not have any problems with GUI-speed, artefacts or anything else. I also had a look into my X.org-Logs. [Bug 367163] [NEW] gpg uses popup dialog instead of cli by default

Follow up to my above comment: Disabling the local cdrom repository in my Synaptic settings seems to have worked around this problem. I did notice my wireless connection (wlan0; Intel PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN [Shiloh] using 'iwlagn' driver ) had trouble right after I did this, and I had to disable and re-enable it in Network Manager before it finally reconnected. [Bug 366262] Re: Desktop is completely unresponsive after Jaunty upgrade
I just did a fresh install today. I can reproduce this error. There is no desktop icons. Right click or left drag on the desktop does not display anything. When there is a CD in one of my cd drives I can not run nautilus (in the terminal I get segmentation fault as soon as I run it). If there is no CD in that drive nautilus runs fine. But I never get my desktop icons or right click back, even when nautilus runs. I'll try making another user and post the results. I'v attached some log files of when nautilus crashes. This is the first time I created these logs, so if there is something missing please let me know how to improve them. [Bug 350776] Re: jockey backend crashed when trying to install nvidia driver
I encountered the same problem in 9.04 after trying to change Appearance settings. Hardware is nVidia 160m in Dell E6500. I've always hated nVidia's stance on open source; this just brings back bad memories. I noticed this in my pstree: ├─jockey-backend─┬─cdrom───mount │ └─{jockey-backend} and top showed: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND 3885 root 20 0 16664 1740 1452 R 24 0.0 8:55.71 cdrom 3790 root 20 0 180m 70m 16m S 14 0.9 4:43.00 jockey-backend 2529 messageb 20 0 22064 1792 808 S6 0.0 2:42.00 dbus-daemon So I disabled 'local cdrom' in my Synaptic settings and retried. At first it didn't work, but then I realized the above 'cdrom' process was still running. So I killed it, and this time it seems to work (at least it downloads and installed). [Bug 366607] Re: Doesn't work, if path to .img file contains spaces.
I have the same problem. I fixed this in the python code by encapsulating the source file in double quotes. This way it passes both the file check as will as the "dd" command. [Bug 366170] Re: Upgrading to Jaunty breaks rt61pci wireless
Okay, I spake to soon. The rt61 drivers work only for a bit then they stop responding. Sometimes I have an IP address, sometimes not. Either way only rebooting fixed it. I managed to find the Windows XP 64 bit drivers out there and used them with ndiswrapper I used this HOWTO: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=564419 And then I had to put this in my /etc/network/interfaces: iface wlan0 inet dhcp wireless-essid myhiddenessid wireless-mode Managed pre-up wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -B -f/var/log/wpa_supplicant.wlan0.log post-down killall -q wpa_supplicant Without the "Managed", it defaults to Auto and will fail to associate with my AP. I found the extractable drivers at driverguide. The filename was: C54Ri_C54RC_DRV_WHQL_V3.01.00.exe Even though an EXE it unzips fine. I used the rt61.inf in the WINX64 directory. So far it is working, hopefully this one stays up. Hopefully the rt2x00 + rt61pci can be fixed and start working again. [Bug 367136] [NEW] xset -r causes loss of control of keyboard
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Using Ubuntu 9.04 64-Bit. "xset -r" or "xset r off" (see man xset) is a command which is supposed to turn off the keyboard repeat. However, when I run this in Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit, it causes an endless stream of enter key inputs instead (as if you just held down the enter key). I've tried this on two different machines with the same results. Here are the steps to reproduce: 1) Open two terminal windows 2) In the first terminal window, enter "xset r" (no quotes) but don't hit the enter key yet. You'll need this command already typed in to gain control of the keyboard later when the X server goes into a loop of enter keys making typing of commands in the terminal at that point otherwise impossible. 3) In the second terminal window, enter "xset -r" (no quotes) and hit the enter key. Observe that instead of the repeat being turned off for the keyboard, a steady rapid stream of enter keypresses occur which makes typing into anything impossible because the enter keystrokes are interfering with whatever you are typing. 4) Now go back to the first terminal window and press enter to execute the command "xset r" which will turn the repeat back on. At this point, you should have regained control of keyboard input again. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xset -r causes loss of control of keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367136 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
