[Bug 375285] Re: jaunty constant overheating
I have the same problem on HP tx2000 laptop. It seems to be the problem with NVidia videocard (or chipset?). It works fine and temperature is moderate (50~70 C) unless you try to watch flash videos - then it overheats in about 10 minutes. My laptop at work has an intel integrated videocard, and that doesn't happen at all there (of course, I don't watch youtube videos that often there, but still...) I've tried to do a fresh install, and not installing the proprietary nvidia drivers, but the problem is still there, so it's clearly not a driver issue. [Bug 288185] Re: Evolution plain-text email includes formatting "stuff" - should be pure plain text
I can add info to this behavior: It is not restricted to plain-text mode - also occurs in html. The inconvenience is that it become impossible to split lines in the quote, say, to insert a reply. The workaround is to copy the text inside the format box and then past- as-quotation to the end - then erase the entire format box. Examining the page source when this happens shows me that the original email was formatted using a table. Splitting a line in the quote would involved adding additional tags to end the row, the columb, and the table, then restart it again. The formatting seems to be to allow some services to add advertising, or other non-user message, to a footer below the email text. -- Evolution plain-text email includes formatting "stuff" - should be pure plain text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 384697] [NEW] Horribly slow startup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 Let's say I boot my machine, start X, and run Firefox. All well and good. Then I go to Firefox's address bar and type the letter "S". Now I have to wait for thirty seconds while Firefox apparently loads every URL I may have visited in the past year and half which might contain the letter "S", during which time it not only locks up the browser, but the entire X environment, so I can't even switch between windows. When it's FINALLY done I may, thank you very much, use my browser, and the rest of my desktop. The "awesome bar" is a resource-hogging abomination on its own, but if it must remain, *nothing* should *ever* keep me from switching to other windows while any application loads. *Nothing*. I do not think the English language has words to accurately describe how infuriating this is. I realise that the "awesome bar" horsebull is Mozilla's deal, but if a window becomes unresponsive because of some application misbehaving, there is NO REASON the entire desktop should become unusable waiting for it to finish. [Bug 347569] Re: [RS482] glxgears low fps
Updated patch. This one moves one of the TNL lines. Apparently it improves performance, but as the author mentioned it causes lockups for some things. I will test is thoroughly. ** Attachment added: "r300 performance fix" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/27634168/r300_context_tnlcache_fix.patch -- [RS482] glxgears low fps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347569 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This was from a suspend. Hibernate boots a clean kernel every time. rockfx01 wrote: > Micah, do you experience the same issue when trying to resume from > suspend mode instead of hibernate? Okay, this time I managed to have dmesg paged in. [Bug 114212] Re: REGRESSION: fusermount: failed to open /dev/fuse: Permission denied
Nikolaus, firstly, your comment describes a different issue than this bug, as /etc/fuse.conf is very different from /dev/fuse, so it should be filed as a new report. Secondly, you should not mark your own reports as Confirmed. Thirdly, did you forget to add yourself to the fuse group? ** Changed in: fuse (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released ** Summary changed: - REGRESSION: fusermount: failed to open /dev/fuse: Permission denied + fusermount: failed to open /dev/fuse: Permission denied -- fusermount: failed to open /dev/fuse: Permission denied https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114212 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 271706] Re: Volume control wheel on laptop is sticking in ubuntu
Hmm, this is just a random thought, but perhaps you might be able to write a hacked version of xf86-input-evdev based on the "value" returned by the volume key events (it seems the kernel knows something we don't? :D ). I noticed that for the R4000, the volume keys do not generate value = 0 OR value = 1... they ONLY generate value = 2 for volume keys (when i compare it to other key events, i believe it means that the key is being held "down"). Is it possible that this is the same for the U300 ? If it is... then we may have a means of identifying these "problem" keyboards within evdev - compliant drivers. You should test the other quirky machines, for their reported "values" with sudo evtest /dev/input/eventX (keyboard) -- to see if they too only create value = 2 events for volume "keys" -- just a thought for a generic solution :) I'm not sure if these "value" outputs from evtest are the same values seen within the source of input-evdev... but if these problem machines have a lot in common, we may have a way of disabling auto-repeat similar to your hack. -- Volume control wheel on laptop is sticking in ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/271706 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 384692] [NEW] Need option to disable mouse "back" and "forward"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 I, and (hundreds of) thousands like me, need to be able to disable the forward/backward mouse buttons. Other programs use those buttons, and "It's not our problem, go configure your drivers," is the wrong answer. I can do that, but I shouldn't have to. I shouldn't have to turn my computer upside down and reconfigure half a dozen programs when only one is misbehaving. I'm not even asking that you add it to the gui: I'm perfectly happy with configuring firefox to refrain from hijacking my mouse in about:config, if this is an option. A quick google search will show that this is a real user interface problem that annoys the crap out of just about everyone who owns a mouse with more than two buttons and a scrollwheel. Can someone please provide a real solution to this? Thanks in advance.
