Re: [Bug 379157] Re: [i945G] Samsung TV not detected on VGA output (no screens)
From what I have seen from other users, there hasn't been a whole lot of performance change between 2.4.1 and 2.7.1. Many users report significant improvement for 2.7.99.1 which is in Karmic now. It will probably be 2.7.8 by the time Karmic is out, and hopefully it will be with a solution to your problem. So I would suggest that you keep the package that is working for you at the moment. Now, upstream will have to figure out if the best way to solve this problem is to outright revert the problematic patch or do something different. You will probably be asked to test another patch soon, but it may take a little while. You may take a look this bug (which is similar except that a VGA was sometimes detected when it wasn't there) for how things may proceed: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20463 Hopefully, it won't take as long, though. -- [i945G] Samsung TV not detected on VGA output (no screens) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379157 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 384833] [NEW] After locale change, default folders duplicate, crash when changing settings
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Affected: all Versions of Evolution I ever used (currently: 2.22.3.1) Distro: Ubuntu Hardy (with all updates up to Jun 08 2009) Description: I once used Evolution with default (English) locale. Later, I switched from Debian to Ubuntu and began using evolution with German locale. Some time after switching, I recognized that the default section folders in the sidebar had been duplicated. That means: In the Address book section I have a category On this Computer and Auf diesem Computer (the latter being the same as the first in English). Moreover I have Personal, respectively Persönlich Address books in both of them which apparently are pointing to the same physical database. I attached a screenshot for visualization of the problem. In the Calendar and Task list this behaviour gets very irritating because all Personal appointments show up twice in the calendar until I switch one of the duplicate translations off manually. Moreover, I can no longer change settings like Calendar/Task entry colors for Personal section (They are pink, I hate pink :-]). In the screenshot you can nicely see, that one of the Personal localisations has green color icon attached, the other has none. the entries of the Non-color localisation appear in pink (see screenshot). Which one of the localizations is green appears to be randomly changing (probably a race condition at startup). If I try to change settings for the section folder that has no color icon, Evolution crashes. I'd really like to get rid of the On this Computer section permanently but since it is a default section it can not be removed. Even if it could I would be afraid to lose data because it points to the same data as the localized section folder. What can I do to get rid of those duplicate entries in my calendar and tasks? Maybe there is an XML file I can manipulate or anything else? ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: Incomplete ** Tags: gui locale usability -- After locale change, default folders duplicate, crash when changing settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 380650] Re: kvm hangs on AMD
This same behavior is happening for me with 9.04 hosts and vms. Using hardware acceleration on an AMD dual core processor. I had one running over the weekend that started doing this, and I can confirm that the VM doesn't completely hang, it just shoots to 100% CPU (in my case 100% of the one core it's allowed to use) and continues very very slowly (presumably with 120 second timeout for every operation). It does dump error messages to the console, but I neglected to record them before killing the instance. The first VM on the system has been running the whole time with no issues, only the second and third (which are running the same software) are having issues. -- kvm hangs on AMD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 384474] Re: sound-juicer crashed with Segmentation fault after Extract button pressed
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash- file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 236602] Re: No applications available for photo editing if Gnome is not installed
Woohoo, the magics of standards. @Jonathan: That would not change anything because that only updates the ksycoca but not freedesktop stuff (because by spec the installing application is supposed to do that stuff, not the desktop's implementation of the freedesktop standards), fspot being a mono/gtk+ app, doesn't care about ksycoca though ;-) @Milan: The fact that GNOME uses it, doesn't mean that update-desktop- database is a standard, which to my knowledge it is not. It is a freedesktop.org software project, but no more and no less than that. Calling it a standard is like saying Tango is a standard, which would make GNOME not comply with the standard. Anyway. Lets recap. * The freedesktop specifications/standards for desktop files (which list associated mimetypes) and for shared-mime (which lists mimetypes that can be used by desktop files) do not define update-desktop-database as standard of any kind, neither do they reference desktop-files-utils * The freedesktop shared-mime spec however, lists update-mime-database as tool of choice for updating the possible mimetypes (which should be working just fine, because that is implemented in KDE) * The linking of application=mimetype is, just like managing the list of applications, up to the desktop's specific implementation (as suggested in the desktop-entry-spec) * fspot either does not use GNOME's builtin parser, or GNOME in fact uses update-desktop-database as default parser. So, either fspot needs to depend on desktop-file-utils or the GNOME library that is responsible for reading the data provided by update-desktop-database needs to depend on desktop-file-utils. ** Changed in: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- No applications available for photo editing if Gnome is not installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236602 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-meta in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org When accessing a folder over SFTP (or SSH, should be the same) using nautilus, double click on an ODT file opens it in the archive manager.
