Just had the same issue and followed the steps provided by Lost In Tokyo. This did not work for me. I then followed the steps by Kees Cook. Working fine with it disabled. I spent at least 3 hours trying to figure out what the cause of the issue was. My logs are identical, except I am moving the data to another drive mounted on the system. This is on Jaunty. In addition to apparmor disallowing mysql user to write to other directories, it also is preventing the memlock option from working which forces mysql to use additional system memory instead of the disk for buffers, etc, greatly increasing performance. mysql-server: 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2 apparmor: 2.3+1289-0ubuntu14 -- Confusing mysqld startup failure with apparmor (Hardy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201799 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 27463] Re: [needs-packaging] Fedora Directory Server for Ubuntu
I had a chat with David Sugar (I believe he is a staff member from Canonical). He suggests us to form a dedicated team to set up and maintain the 389 directory server. I have just done that and now we have got a new team called Ubuntu 389 Directory Server Team https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-389-directory-server I have added: Timothy Pearson (the Ubuntu packager) David Sugar (Canonical staff(?), also a REVU reviewer) Michele Baldessari (Debian 389 maintainer) to this team. Also this team now has a centralized ppa. So it would be nice if we can port Timothy's ppa to the team ppa, with the correct name changes etc. At the same time, Michele can make sure that this ppa compiles in the Debian testing suite and get 389 accepted in Debian as well. In this way, the team ppa will centralize the development of both Ubuntu and Debian port at once. I have just applied for an email list for this team and it is waiting for approval. David, would you be able to approve the team email list? Cheers, kcleung P.S. Apart from the package name changes, we should transfer the maintainer of the packages from Timothy Pearson to Ubuntu 389 Directory Server Team so that this project is now managed by the whole team. [Bug 393226] [NEW] Impossible to rename a podcast using non-ASCII characters
Public bug reported: In a podcast's properties there's a field named Title, which is available for editing and allows changing podcast's name into something convenient. The problem is, only ASCII characters can be used in this field. Steps to reproduce: 1. Right-click on any podcast (left panel of gpodder's main window), select Edit from the context menu. 2. Put something non-ASCII in the Title field (I use cyrillics, but symbols like ä or å are sufficient to reproduce the bug). 3. Click the Close button. Result: the properties window won't close. It can be closed by clicking X button in window's header, but then the new title does not apply (and doesn't survive gpodder's restart). More than that, the podcast in question can not be updated until gpodder is restarted. Expected behaviour: the properties window closes, podcast has new title in the left panel of the main window. Expected behaviour can be observed if only ASCII characters are used in step 2. [Bug 208548] Re: en_SE locale needed to get correct weekdays in Sweden
If you boil it down, the most glaring issue here is the fact that the Gnome Panel development team decided to remove the possibility to set the first day of the week from the Calendar preferences. Why they did so is anyone's guess, it is a desirable feature and removing is a pretty stupid idea. Then again, dumbing things down too much has always been one of the greater problems with Gnome. If anyone could point me to a place where this can be discussed with the developers, I would appreciate it greatly. In the general case, I hope the GUI tool discussed above will be in Karmic, because this is an issue that affects a lot more people than one would think. -- en_SE locale needed to get correct weekdays in Sweden https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 393115] Re: banshee multiple .desktop files should have different Name=
On Sun, 2009-06-28 at 15:51 +, Nicolò Chieffo wrote: Do you mean that they mimetype based desktop entries don't have to be listed in the open with dialog? This is in my opinion wrong, because open with should list all different actions, not only the default one That's not what I said. The Open with dialog is only really useful as a catch-all if a buggy application doesn't identify itself as supporting a particular mimetype. It already lists every launchable desktop file. All handlers for a particular mimetype should be listed in the Open with- submenu, and there will be only a single entry for each application. With the audio CD case, right clicking on the CD icon should show Open with Banshee in the Open with- submenu. Because the particular mimetype will only appear in one of Banshee's desktop files, then only one entry will appear here. This is correct already - all the user cares about here is opening their audio CD with Banshee. What you're proposing is renaming the desktop files for every single application to make each separate action identifiable in the open with dialog box. So, in the audio CD case, I would end up with right-clicking on the CD icon, and navigating to Open with - Open with Banshee (Play audio CD). That is plain wrong IMO. If you're having to navigate to the Open with dialog on a frequent basis, then the application that you're using is broken, and should be fixed to add the additional supported mimetypes to its desktop file. -- banshee multiple .desktop files should have different Name= https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393115 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file
Reading some of the latest post I got a brilliant idea how to solve this problem. How about introducing a new panel to nautilus which shows some information about the selected file allows for editing the file name. It could be a small panel under the left column or below the main view. A new panel wouldn't need a special setting, just a new CheckButton under the menu View. To be precise: the fade animation takes exactly two seconds. But it does not delay the shutdown dialog as the title of this bug reports says.
