[Bug 401188] [NEW] Failed file transfer interrupts whole installation.
Public bug reported: CD/Version: Ubuntu 9.04 ( Jaunty ), original CD from http://shipit.ubuntu.com When setup fails to copy at least 1 file, I get an error message ( about the fact that it can't find/copy this file ) and it says clean your cd or replace with another one, but, there's no way I could do it. When I click OK ( the one and only choice I have there ), installation exits and Ubuntu boots into Live OS ( LiveCD version ). It's so annoying to do it again and again without being sure that it'll not happen again. It SHOULD give me a choice ( like, ejecting CD and asking for a replacement ) without interrupting installation process. Bug: can't clean/replace my corrupted CD as upon pressing OK button, installation exits. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Failed file transfer interrupts whole installation. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/401188 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 400864] Re: 9.04 PPC: r128 does not detect ATI Rage 128 on G3 iMac
Partial SOLUTION: xorg.conf must contain the line BusID PCI:0:16:0 in the Device section - this will detect the ATI Rage. I had not tried this as I assumed that the lspci (hex-)value should be correct, but apparently, xorg expects decimal. Hence, the installer needs to somehow come up with this. [Bug 241604] Re: Maximum zoom in Evince is 400%
Just to correct you saying: A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10. I ran Evince in resolution 1920x1080 and was not able to read a simple scientific article as the zoom level of 400 % was so small, this effectively renders Evince useless on any system running at a ressolution of 1920x1080. [Bug 398777] Re: No sound on computer,HDA Intel STAC92XXanalog
Okay,I managed to get it going on this laptop with the help of a friend online, who is experienced in Linux. So I thought I would let you peoples know. Once again this is an HP pavilion dv6 1038ca laptop,With the HDA Intel STAC 92XX analog not working with sound on Mint 7 or Ubuntu 9.04. We did this to get it working. First I installed this, from these forums, from another thread, posted by Mark, helping someone else. Mark Rijckenberg said on 2009-06-26: Hi, In System/Administration/Users and Groups , make sure that your user and the root user are members of the following groups: pulse pulse-access pulse-rt Then try this procedure: 1. copy-paste the following command into the Terminal: gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf 2. and add these lines to the end of the file: # Keep snd-pcsp from being loaded as first soundcard options snd-pcsp index=-2 alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5 options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 3. Then navigate to SystemPreferencesSound and change everything to ALSA 4. reboot and retest sound 5. If sound still does not work, then replace hp-dv5 with one of the following 4 model options: STAC92HD71B* ref dell-m4-1 dell-m4-2 dell-m4-3 6. You will have to reboot and retest sound after every model option change to the alsa-base.conf file Regards, Mark ))) I did not have to go further than step 4. Then we did this http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2009/05/09/upgrade-alsa-1020-on- ubuntu-jaunty-904/ After rebooting, system sound worked. On start up I got sound for log in and after had sound as well. However,Rhythmbox doesnt seem to work and also a music player from my local radio station wont either, and we will work on getting those going and I will report back on here. I hope this helps with a solution to this problem in getting a fix,as well as help anyone else with the same problem with the same laptop(sound card) or other wise. -- No sound on computer,HDA Intel STAC92XXanalog https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398777 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The same wording is used in the present Karmic installer too. I agree with the OP about the *First option being unclear* . *Only the First option* needs to be re-worded . [Bug 379123] Re: Ctrl+V shortcut does not work anymore
I experience the problem too, although only the shortcut does not work only the first time I press it, if I press the shortcut twice, it works fine. [Bug 364745] Re: blogtk crashes on start
I'd like to restart BloGTK 2.0 development this fall if possible. The Glade file is going to have to be fixed, as it crashes the latest versions of Glade. There's a number of functions left to be completed, and some backend stuff for offline editing support. Then the usual amount of bug hunting and compatibility fixes. If anyone wants to take a crack at submitting patches, feel free to do so. If there's anyone who would be willing to package and maintain the release, that would be great, as packaging is not something I was especially good at.
