[Bug 402097] [NEW] Shuffle always starts with the same song
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox If you set the play mode to shuffle, then every time you start playing a playlist it will begin playing the same song. To reproduce this bug, enable shuffling and start playing a playlist. Pause playback, then begin playing another playlist. Pause playback once more, return to the original playlist (making sure to deselect all in the song list) and begin playing that playlist again. You will notice that the same song as before begins playing. However, all subsequent songs have a different order. [Bug 402095] [NEW] sun-java6-jre license screen is confusing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-restricted-extras During the installation of sun-java6-jre, as part of the ubuntu- restricted-extras package, a screen appears containing licensing terms, however, there is only an Ok button the bottom of the licence text. Originally I thought there was no way to decline the licence terms, however *after* selecting Ok you are then prompted with the choice of accepting or declining. [Bug 402082] Re: boinc might use /home
The BOINC packages are currently configured on a per-computer basis, not a per-user basis. This has several advantages: * the BOINC client can do work while nobody's logged in * more than one user can control the BOINC instance, as the files are owned by a BOINC user and group * usually, people don't want to have different configurations for different users Per-computer files are supposed to be stored in /var/lib/. Doing what BOINC does on Windows and making a home folder for the BOINC user in /home/ doesn't seem to be the done thing in Debian-based distros. Even in situations, like yours, where putting them in /home seems to make sense, there are potential problems. Jaunty and Karmic's BOINC packages are different versions, and using the same configuration files for those two versions is probably not a great idea. For your particular situation, I'd recommend using the upstream .sh version at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php, rather than Ubuntu's packages. If you run that inside your home directory, it'll install BOINC there, and you can run the binaries it creates from either karmic or jaunty. That way, you'd be using the same version (in fact, the same binaries), and shouldn't have problems. However, since you wouldn't be using Ubuntu packages in this case, it's rather outside the scope of this venue... -- boinc might use /home https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402082 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The title of this bug should be System freezes after returning from hibernate for me but I shamelessly assume the same here.. I have a Toshiba Portege M100 with Ubuntu 9.04 running and also was not able to hibernate (or to be precise: wake up after hibernate). My simple workaround (after a very long debugging process with uswsusp and hibernate): % cat /etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module # The sleep/wake system to use. Valid values are: # kernelThe built-in kernel suspend/resume support. # Use this if nothing else is supported on your system. # uswsusp If your system has support for the userspace # suspend programs (s2ram/s2disk/s2both), then use this. # tuxonice If your system has support for tuxonice, use this. # # The system defaults to kernel if this is commented out. # SLEEP_MODULE=kernel SUSPEND_MODULES=ohci1394 I assume there (still) must be a bug in ohci1394 but I wonder why this module is not blacklisted by default? [Bug 402113] [NEW] Using fd as hostname on installer you will broke your installation because of name collision
Public bug reported: Now this might sound funny but i just installed fresh 9.04 server under Virtualbox using fd as hostname and it did broke my installation because installer will make LVM volume named fd and its already being used elsewhere. I did use fd as hostname because i was doing a new virtual host for a clan named Frozen Dawn i wanted to shorten its name to fd. Of cource server installer wants to default use LVM system to make filesystems so i did choose it and it will happily make a fd named LVM volume. Now, this will break your freshly installed system because fd AFAIK already being used on something else, it think floppy drive uses fd name? Anyway udev brakes on a funny way so file permissions are broken, eg. /dev/null has rights only with root read-write and network wont come up because /var/run/network directory is not beeing created by udev also MySQL servers did broke down, etc. lots of funny and strange errors only because i used fd as hostname. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Using fd as hostname on installer you will broke your installation because of name collision https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 332350] Re: package_hook crashed with IOError in write()
Martin, I'm re-opening this bug after having it occur in a jaunty - karmic upgrade, as reported in duplicate bug 402115. How this occurred for me is, if during the early stages of an upgrade when it attempts to update the apt cache after rewriting /etc/apt/sources.list, if the apt cache update fails for some reason, the upgrader leaves behind log files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/MMDD-HHMM/ and then quits. On a *subsequent* upgrade, if during a package maintainer script there is a failure, /usr/share/apport/package_hook gets invoked with /var/log/dist- upgrade/ as a logdir argument. /usr/share/apport/package_hook attempts to attach everything in this directory as files, which doesn't work so well on subdirectories. ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Triaged ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Martin Pitt (pitti) -- package_hook crashed with IOError in write() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 330573] Re: madfuload doesn't work on Jaunty
I have an maudio ozone (not the academic version) and it always used to work, in former ubuntu versions. Now i am running the 9.04-64bit edition. I got the segfault error at first. After that, I downloaded the source package, made changes like sugested in #12, and ran configure, make, make install. After that I changed the rules for the ozone to ACTION==add, SUBSYSTEM==usb, ENV{DEVTYPE}==usb_device, ATTRS{idVendor}==0763, ATTRS{idProduct}==2808, RUN+=/usr/local/sbin/madfuload -l -3 -f /usr/share/usb/maudio/ma008100.bin -D $ENV{DEVNAME} Note the different location of madfuload, but this is where make install puts it. That should not matter i think. After restarting udev and switching on my ozone, i can see this in dmesg: [ 4654.948012] usb 5-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 10 [ 4655.106378] usb 5-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice No mention of madfuload, not even an error. asoundconf list should show the ozone if it were load, but does not list it. [Bug 401971] Re: Unable to install grub2 onto vfat partition
I just uploaded now a new version to Debian sid which contains this bugfix. But it's strange that grub-probe already failed to detect it as valid fat fs. Could you plesae attach a dump of first 512 bytes of it? You can get it with `sudo dd if=/dev/sda2 of=fat.bs count=1 bs=512'. It's in fat.bs then. Maybe it helps if you would run dosfsck (in package dosfstools) or chkdsk on Windows over it. -- Unable to install grub2 onto vfat partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/401971 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
