I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 and had similar irritating problems synchronising my Palm Tungsten E2 to Evolution via the USB cable link. It kept on timing out because the calendar sync didn't complete properly. I have now found a work around that works every time: -with the computer up and running, turn on the E2; -connect the USB smart cable with the sync button; -start the gnome-pilot PDA service; press the cable button. In Karmic you are using KMS. With KMS the names of the outputs have changed. VGA is now VGA1 and LVDS is now LVDS1. These are the output names you have to use in xrandr commands. So, most likely, xrandr --output VGA1 --right-of LVDS1 --auto will do something now. [Bug 406895] [NEW] Master Volume Control Different values/ too quiet.
Public bug reported: The Volume control sliders show the sliders at different levels however they do move together to a point just below 50%. I get the same results using alsamixer as I do with gnome-alsamixer. I attached a screen grab that explains it better I think. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virt-manager Hi, I have been running a WinXP virtual machine under virt-manager (qemu connection) since the H release (whatever animal that was). Since updating from Intrepid to Jaunty recently, my virtual machine dies with the blue screen stating: STOP: 0x007e (0xc0005, 0x0, 0xf8a8015c, 0xf8a7fe58) I will attach a screen shot. I tried repairing and reinstalling windows with no luck. Looking around for this error, I couldn't find an exact match, but it appears that 0x007e errors are associated with bios mismatches. Any help with getting over this hurdle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping with this bug. Fix released indicates that the bug has been fixed in the latest development release of Ubuntu [1]. To target for an SRU, you can target for release (as lunch did above). However, this bug is not eligible for SRU since it is not a security flaw nor a potential for critical data loss [2]. Gnome-power-manager has gone through significant changes since Jaunty which make it nearly impossible to backport (GPM no longer uses HAL but devicekit-power for backlight control [3]). Unfortunately, this bug will most likely continue to exist in Jaunty, but will be marked fix released since it has been fixed in the latest development release (Karmic). If it reappears in Karmic, please reopen this bug. The second monitor is either a Samsung P2350 or a Dell 2209WA connected to the VGA port. Whenever I run an opengl application on either the laptop screen or the external monitor, the external monitor shows faint flickering horizontal black lines. For instance, when I run Celestia on laptop's monitor, take a window and drag it around the screen quickly, the external monitor flickers. The laptop monitor never shows this flickering (or its not easily visible). The external also flickers when I run opengl apps on it (the external). Hence, it always flickers when an opengl app is running. I've tried switching on and off compiz and vsync (in nvidia-settings and compiz). I've also tried syncing to the external monitor's refresh rate. I've tried forcing the gfx card to a single clock speed. None of these things helped. So I'm still getting the crash with the new code. I tried to pin down the exact crash using g_assert g_warning statements, but wasn't successful. So, one question I have, is how do I easily create a debug version of this code? I tried adding: DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=debug nostrip nooopt to the debian/rules, but the resultant binary doesn't appear to have any symbols? Oh... Ok... I thought it was the same since the crash happened during the mount dismount, i thought this was related to the fonts... As a test, can you try to just use the diskiograph portions of your configuration file and see if that alone will cause any crash? Hi, My bug #388247 was marked as a duplicate of this one. However, I do not believe that mine is actually a duplicate. This bug, #296560, talks about a situation where people drag from a lower window to an upper window. Then the lower window steals focus when it should not do so. That is the opposite of my bug. My bug is not about stealing focus at a bad time. It's about not stealing focus when it should be stolen. Let's say I want to drag something from an upper window to a lower one. The lower window is currently obscured by upper windows. While my drag is hovering over the lower window, that lower window should steal focus, so that I can aim my drag at a specific folder or spot in that (formerly) lower window. Also, if I continue to drag around, any window I hover over for more than a short amount of time should steal focus. If this explanation isn't clear, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification.
