[Bug 396792] Re: "gvba" does not write the battery file until the game is closed
Can I at least get an explanation as to why that is the desired behavior? Are there any links to a discussion upstream? As I tried to explain, the essential problem is that "gvba" doesn't save the game batteries when it should: if "gvba" doesn't exit cleanly, or you reset the game within the emulator, the battery file is never created or updated properly. I find this to be a usability problem, with potential for data loss. Think about a word processor analogy, I expect my document to be saved at the instant I click the button that says "save", not when I close the entire office application. -- "gvba" does not write the battery file until the game is closed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 312898] Re: libxxx-dev should be installable with libxxx-unstripped
Hi, I'm not a dev or maintainer, but have an end user example case. From my reading of this thread my understanding is that it'll be fixed in Karmic - woder if you could tell me if that's correct. Kdenlive (video editor) requires libav*-unstripped in order to render and export videos OpenCV (computer vision library) depends on libav* (stripped), so you cannot have both packages installed. [Bug 411249] Re: libpam-krb5 default configuration does not allow login for LDAP users
in your setup, the shadow information is interpreted by pam_unix (not pam_ldap), but, assuming you have no local user, still comes from LDAP (via nss_ldap). Please check if your user has the auxiliary objectclass shadowAccount configured, and check the associated attributes (specifically shadowLastChange, shadowMax and shadowExpire). If I had to venture a guess I would say that changing the password via kerberos works correctly, but then libnss-ldap does not have enough permissions to update shadowLastChange, which fails silently, but causes pam_unix to prompt for another password update. Depending on your exact Kerberos configuration, if your kerberos passwords are stored in the LDAP server anyhow, you might want to consider pam_ldap for password updates. If you do, make sure TLS or SSL works correctly between the user-facing hosts and the LDAP server. -- libpam-krb5 default configuration does not allow login for LDAP users https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411249 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 411688] Re: pulseaudio floods network with multicast packets
If I use padevchooser to specifically choose the internal audio as both default sink and default source, the network traffic is reduces somewhat but not by a lot (about 10%~20%). I can cause pulseaudio to stop flooding the network completely by disabling the rtp-send module using gconf. I'll keep it disabled for now (as I do not have a real need at the moment for audio over the network) unless you want me to debug something. -- pulseaudio floods network with multicast packets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411688 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 48671] Re: Cannot rename by clicking on a file
Controversial and non-trivial; not a paper cut. The proposal was to allow renaming by clicking on a file, not to copy Windows's implementation exactly -- if the implementation is poor in Windows, that doesn't mean it would be in Nautilus. For example, Mac OS X allows click to rename, and I've never heard a Mac user complain that this feature ever does anything but allow users to rename files when and only when they intend to do so. Please do not argue against a feature by pointing at the same feature implemented poorly somewhere else; we should take it as an opportunity for us to do well what they do poorly, and outperform the others in a tangible, measurable way. Throwing up our hands and basically saying "we'll never get it right if they can't" is quite unhelpful. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Milestone: round-6 => None -- Cannot rename by clicking on a file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48671 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 257895] Re: bzr: ERROR: not well-formed (invalid token)
FWIW (which might not be much, this close to blessing 2a as the default format)... Attached is a simple reproduction of what I think is the same problem, using bzr.dev r4596 (which is approximately 1.18rc1, not sure exactly). I'll summarize here. (The attachment contains the requested xml_string and locals() output from the debugger, along with a stack trace.) To reproduce, create a branch (either standalone or shared-repo is fine), add file called "a^Gb" (literal CTRL-G character), and commit. pack-0.92 and 1.14 demonstrate the problem; 2a does *not*; I haven't tried other formats. Once you've got a branch in this state, "check" fails. "log" succeeds, but "log -v" fails. Importantly, "upgrade --2a" also fails. Thus, the fact that 2a itself doesn't suffer from the problem is little consolation to people with older branches that do suffer from it. Here's a clue to a possible fix: "co" fails, but if you remove the file from your working tree (assuming, of course, that you haven't already "remove-tree"ed the latter), "revert" *succeeds* in restoring it. So there appears to be at least one code path that avoids the bug. Bugs 267670, 346471, and 407303 look superficially like duplicates of this, but I'm not confident enough of that to mark them as such. ** Attachment added: "bug.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30130300/bug.log -- bzr: ERROR: not well-formed (invalid token) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257895 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 410379] Re: Tomcat security configuration error prevents proper logging
I also installed a clean default installation of tomcat 5.5 on Ubuntu Server 8.0.4.3 LTS on 8/7/09. I was seeing the same exact behavior, plus webapp I deployed was not starting. I have come up with a workaround, but I do not recommend it for a production environment due to it's hammer approach. A better solution would be much appreciated. 1. Stop the Tomcat server 2. Add the following to /etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d/50user.policy grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; 3. Restart the Tomcat server 4. Check /var/log/tomcat55 and you'll see the logs As you can see, this is a hammer approach to the permissions issue, but I was unable to determine which exact permissions needed to be opened in order to get logging to work. -- Tomcat security configuration error prevents proper logging https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410379 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 411528] Re: evolution bad symlink in man1
Why would you mark the bug incomplete? I provided the error, the directory, and the output - the rest would be for the fix. >From man maddb: : ignoring bogus filename Themay or may not be a valid manual page but its name is invalid. This is usually due to a manual page with sectional extension being put in manual page section . If you compare the other file names in the directory, I suspect the issue it is complaining about is ending with .5.gz vs no number, or .1 for being in a man1 directory. To test that theory (didn't know I had to do that part to submit a bug :) ): # ln -s evolution.1.gz evolution-2.25.5.1.gz # ls -l evo* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1157 2009-07-27 10:48 evolution.1.gz lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2009-08-10 15:00 evolution-2.25.5.1.gz -> evolution.1.gz lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2009-07-27 16:21 evolution-2.25.5.gz -> evolution.1.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 925 2009-07-27 10:48 evolution-addressbook-export.1.gz # mandb -c Processing manual pages under /usr/share/man...
